AS Roma - Overview

Hello dear friends of FM Scout. As you may have gathered from the title, I am doing a save and story with AS Roma. I feel Roma are a club that have never really had much success but I also feel that I can bring them success and become a club legend.

The Title Explained

So why are Rome going to re-conquer Europe when they have never ever won a European competition? Well basically if anyone knows there history, they will know that the ancient Romans conquered Western Europe and would've likely conquered the entire world had they not been stopped at Hadrians wall. So this is my attempt to conquer Europe albeit in a slightly less violent way!

So Who Am I?

I am ex-Juventus captain Fabio Cannavaro. I have chosen to be him as he has an expansive knowledge of Seria A and Italian football in general. Also it adds controversy due to the fact he was an ex Juve player.

Budget

I have gave Roma a budget of £50,000,000 on the editor due to the sales of Bojan Krkic and Marquinhos. I feel this is a fair budget and I feel with this budget I can bring AS Roma success.

AS Roma - The Briefest of Brief Histories

Associazione Sportiva Roma commonly referred to as simply Roma, is a professional Italian football club based in Rome. Founded by a merger arranged by the Fascist regime in 1927, Roma have participated in the top-tier of Italian football for all of their existence but one season in the early 50s (1951–52). For their 61st season in a row (80th overall), Roma competed in Serie A for the 2012–13 season.
Roma have won Serie A three times, first in 1941–42 then in 1982–83 and again in 2000–01, as well as winning nine Coppa Italia titles and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. On the European stage Roma won an Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1960–61, coming close to European Cup victory in 1983–84 (lost the one-legged final played at home against Liverpool after a penalty shootout), and finishing as runners-up in the UEFA Cup for 1990–91 (two-legged aggregate defeat against Internazionale).

Home games are currently played at the Stadio Olimpico, a venue they share with city rivals Lazio. With a capacity of over 72,000, it is the second largest of its kind in Italy, with only San Siro able to seat more. In September 2009 the club unveiled plans to build a new 55,000-capacity stadium in the western suburbs of Rome. Its design was modeled after English football stadiums with the objective being to give fans a closer view of the pitch. In September 2011, it was announced that the new president, Thomas DiBenedetto, had reached an agreement with the mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, to have the new stadium completed by 2016. Like the previous plan by Sensi, this new stadium is to be modeled after English stadiums.

Key Players

There are a lot of great players in this Roma side but having looked at the team report and scrutinized it thoroughly I have come to the conclusion that there are 3 players who will be key to the success of the club.

Francesco Totti

Daniele De Rossi

Erik Lamela

Club Legends

Also AS Roma have numerous club legends but for me there are a few who stand out from the crowd.

Francesco Totti

Bruno Conti

Agostino Di Bartolomei

So yeah, thats it! Next update will be the unveiling of the new AS Roma Kits!
I can see where you come from in deciding the budget, but Bojan left because his loan ran out.

Double Signing for Fabio

Breaking News - AS Roma snap up TWO players

AS Roma is currently where its all happening at as they signed two players for their squad for the 2012/13 season.

The first of the 2 is 16 year old former Nice player, Neal Maupay. Maupay has joined Roma in a deal thought to be in the region of £5 million and is said to be delighted at signing.

In an interview with our correspondent Mike Brown, Neal said this

"I am delighted to be signing for Roma! I am excited about playing alongside the likes of Lamela and De Rossi and can't wait to be managed by Fabio Cannavaro! Also my idol, Francesco Totti, plays here and to play in the same team as him is a dream come true!"

The other player to join Roma in a multi million pound move is Portuguese and former Sporting Lisbon stopper Rui Patricio. Rui, who had played for Sporting his whole career up until now, has signed for a fee of approximately £15 million. Rui is also said to be happy about the move and when interviewed by our correspondent Phillip Terry, he said the following:

"I honestly cannot wait to play for AS Roma. I really loved my time at Sporting and I thank the fans and the club for the warm atmosphere that was generated. However I felt it was time for a change and joining Fabio Cannavaro's AS Roma is exactly what I needed. I hope to stay here for many years to come.

We at Sky Sports feel Fabio has signed 2 exceptionally talented footballers. One who has immense current ability, so to speak, and the other with what could be a fantastic future!

Roma Sign TWO more players as Fabio Continues his Spree

More news breaking from the Stadio Olimpico is that AS Roma have sealed the signing of two more players. Both young full backs from France, Fabio has branded them the future of the Roma defence. They are Sebastian Corchia and Lucas Digne.

Fabio said when asked about the two signings:

"I feel these lads are going to be the best 2 full backs in the world in time. I feel they will both soon be France regulars and I feel with these two in my side I have a good chance of keeping many clean sheets as both are apt defensively whilst also incredible going forward."

We caught up with both players at the same time as our reporter Phillip Terry found out why the 2 very good friends had joined Roma.

PT - Phil Terry
SC - Sebastian Corchia
LD - Lucas Digne

PT - So lads, what prompted you both to join AS Roma?

SC - For me in Fabio Cannavaro I saw a visionary, a man who could bring success to Roma and I knew that I just had to be a part of the uprising of this superb team.

LD - I just joined for the money! I get paid 5 times more here than I did at Lille! Just kidding! But really I joined partly because of the money but more because my great friend Seb joined and I have always wanted to play with him at club level as we both grew up together and played for the same junior team.

PT - Superb, so what do you both hope to achieve with Roma this year?

SC - Champions League qualification would be great! Winning the league would be unthinkably immense!

LD - Yes, I think the ultimate aim should always be to win the league but the realistic aim here is Champions League Qualification.

PT - Yes that's realistic targets from both of you! So now for a couple of less serious question, what is your favourite movie?

SC - I really like the film Gladiator

LD - I'm more of a Pride and Prejudice guy myself! Jokes, I like the Devil wears Prada!

PT - Great choice Sebastian! Wouldn't say I'm a big fan of yours though Lucas! So you have both attended a couple of training sessions, so who is the hardest worker at the club?

SC - Francesco Totti without a shadow of a doubt.

LD - Yeah definitely Totti, he is the oldest player but still works his socks off and doesn't stop till he drops!

PT - Thanks for your time Guys!

LD and SC - No Problem

So there you have it, another two signings for Fabio Cannavaro as he continues to attempt to make his Roma side a powerhouse. We will continue to follow him on this journey as he attempts to become a club legend.

Next Update : Three More Join AS Roma

Louis made these kits for me and everyone else has loved them so...

And on the Cannavaro front, the point is controversy. I will be able to develop a storyline out of it...
