Manager’s End of May/End of Season Review

With the title already gone and second looking like an unrealistic finish, the pressure was off for the final three games and that proved to be an advantage to us as we picked up 7 points and Arsenal slipped up twice and we managed to finish 2nd. We won our final two games at the Etihad Stadium, and a draw away at Burnley days before the FA Cup Final proved to be vital to us finishing second.

The month came with a massive boost to the Club as we won the FA Cup with a convincing performance in the Final against Aston Villa that finished 3-1. We played brilliantly at Wembley and after a good Cup run we deserved to lift the trophy.

My player of the month goes to James Milner. Milner proved why he manages to force himself into every squad this month and capped a brilliant season for him with a spectacular 25 yard strike in the Cup final against his former Club.

Now for my end of season review, in terms of the Premier League I can’t help but be disappointed, we’ve lost too many games this year and not been clinical enough in front of goal on many occasions and failing to find the net at all. Despite not having the best year we’ve still had some great moments in the league, we won the last derby at the Etihad 1-0 thanks to an Aguero penalty and we broke records in beating Villa 12-2 in an unbelievable game, with Aguero bagging a hat-trick and Cavani scoring five.

In the domestic Cup competitions I couldn’t be any happier, we won the season opening Community Shield 1-0 against Arsenal and we then went on to beat United in the Final of the Capital One Cup 2-1 and then beat Aston Villa 3-1 in the Final of the FA Cup, so we will be bringing three trophies over to the Al Mubarak Arena.

In Europe we had a disappointing exit in the Quarter-Final’s, losing 4-2 on aggregate to a very good Juventus team. We cruised through the group stages with 5 victories, including a 7-0 win against Maribor and then eased through the First Knock-Out Stage with a stunning away win at Lyon but we have to be disappointed not to go further than the Quarter Final’s and we will have to improve next year.

My player of the year is a tough one this year, Wellington Nem had a great year again, Aguero and Cavani linked up well up front, as did De Rossi and Toure in the middle of the park, and Kompany was a dominant figure at the back but for the second year running I am going to give the award to Matija Nastasic. Matija has been a rock alongside Vincent and both of them deserve this award but Matija just edges by the fact he has scored 11 goals this season, including some bullet headers and a couple of tap ins. Defensively I can’t fault him at all, he has never made a mistake and rarely puts in a poor performance, he wins everything in the air and is composed on the ball.

Mourinho Replaces Ferguson At Man United, Is Kinkladze Set For Madrid Move?

Jose Mourinho has today been announced as the new manager of Manchester United, replacing the retiring Alex Ferguson. Ferguson is the most successful manager to ever be involved in the game, and many see the task of replacing him as impossible, but if anyone can do it many are convinced Jose Mourinho is the man.

After a successful period in England with Chelsea, Mourinho moved to Inter Milan where he won two Serie A titles and the Champions League. From there he moved to Madrid to take on his biggest challenge yet, Real Madrid. Mourinho enjoyed many battles with Barcelona and in his time at Real , where he managed to win two La Liga titles and 5 Spanish Cups.

Following Mourinho’s departure, speculation has begun as to who will replace him at the helm in Madrid. Many top managers have been linked with the more, including Carlo Ancelotti, Antonia Conte and Slaven Bilic but it is believed that Manchester City manager Georgi Kinkladze is their main target and some expect him to leave for Madrid to avoid battles with the charismatic Mourinho.

When asked about the recent speculation, Manchester City manager Georgi Kinkladze refused to comment, fueling speculation that he is tempted to move to Madrid this summer.
Great update, as always ;)
Can't wait for your desicion!

Is Kinkladze Set to Swap Manchester for Madrid?

It has now been a week since Jose Mourinho swapped Madrid for Manchester, as he was the man given the responsibility of replacing Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, leaving behind his job as manager of Real Madrid. And as reported last week, Manchester City boss Georgi Kinkladze is the man Real want to replace Mourinho but will he swap his beloved Man City for Madrid?

Sky sources have today revealed that Real Madrid have made an official approach for the City boss and City have basically told Kinkladze it is up to him. City have agreed to letting their manager go but at the same time have told him he is more than welcome to stay. In fact the Club hope he stays as they believe he is the man to win back the Premier League crown and possibly bring the Champions League to City.

We have been trying to get in contact with the usually chatty Kinkladze and have been unable to speak to him fuelling speculation that the City boss is ready to go. Kinkladze has had a successful period at Manchester City and has won everything domestically in his three year spell at the Club, but as of yet the Champions League has eluded him and some think he will have a better opportunity of winning Europe’s biggest prize if he left for Madrid.

City fan sites have exploded with messages asking Kinkladze to stay, just like in the 90’s when as a player he looked set to leave, with many of them saying they want him to be the manager who opens the Al Mubarak Arena. One fan’s message simply read, “Once A Blue, Always A Blue. Kinky is going nowhere!” Others have called for Kinkladze to show his loyalty and stay at City, with some become angry at the speculation, “About time Gio ended this speculation, either say you’re staying or pack your bags and go, sick of us being in the papers everyday!”

Whatever Kinkladze decides to do, he has not harmed his reputation amongst the City fans during his spell at the Club as manager and would be welcomed back in the future. For now Georgi Kinkladze is still the manager of Man City, the question is for how long?
I really do hope that you stay at City, but you are the manager after all! :)
Stay or I delete the story :P ;)

Kinkladze Statement

Sky Sports News has just received the following statement from Manchester City manager Georgi Kinkladze, the letter is addressed to Manchester City fans.

“Dear All Manchester City fans and followers across the World,

I am releasing this statement as I feel you deserve to know what is happening regarding all the current press speculation.

As many of you are aware Real Madrid have made a formal approach for my services and upon receiving this, Mr Al Mubarak contacted me to say the decision was all mine but he would like me to stay. I am honoured to have been approached by a Club like Real Madrid, they are a massive Club with a huge fan base across the World but in my eyes no Club is bigger than Manchester City.

I have spoken to Mr Al Mubarak and told him I have no intentions of leaving Manchester City this summer, or any time soon. Manchester City is a Club I hold dear to my heart, they gave me a chance as a player and three years ago gave me this chance and I feel I have unfinished business at the Club.

I would like to thank you all for your continued support and I fully intend on bringing the Premier League trophy back to Manchester City next season and I look forward to seeing even more of you at our new Stadium this coming year.

“Once A Blue, Always A Blue”

Yours faithfully,

Georgi Kinkladze

Manchester City Manager”

There we go, Georgi Kinkladze will not be leaving Manchester City this summer and he fully intends on bringing the title back to City next year, so where will Real Madrid turn now? Many reckon Antonio Conte will be high on there list, along with Slavan Bilic so only time will tell. It is expected that whichever one of those two joins Real Madrid, the other one seems likely to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

Already people have responded to the news on Twitter, with City captain Vincent Kompany tweeting “Great news about the gaffer, great man to lead the Club #wewantourtitleback!” City front man Sergio Aguero has said, “Happy Mr Kinkladze is staying, his passion for City is amazing!”

One interesting tweet came from former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand who had this to say, “Brave move from Kinkladze, thought he’d have run away from Mourinho, he is no match! #BraveOrStupid”
You're staying :D :D :D

Probably Brave. :P
2013-04-28 12:43#95859 Blue : You're staying :D :D :D

I am :) it took me a whole day in work thinking about what I was going to do! Was a tough decision but my blood is Blue, i did actually type up a leaving statement too!

I have also got the save with me joining Real as well so I might begin to post that in another thread somewhere!

City Sign Two Prospects

Manchester City will not only be delighted at the fact their manager is staying at the Club but have today announced the signing of two young players who will boost the squads youth system, Ruben Dario Gaimaro is an Argentinian who joins from Boca Juniors, while Marc Renard is a central defender signed from Genk.

City will no doubt be excited by the signing of Gaimaro, for whom a deal was agreed two years ago but due to his age he couldn’t join City until this summer. Gaimaro is tipped to have a great future in the game and City fans will be excited by the 18 year old who has already made 23 appearances from Argentina’s Under 20s, scoring 2 goals, he also played 25 times for Boca Juniors last season so has plenty of first team experience.

City boss Georgi Kinkladze was also happy to unveil his new assistant manager, follow the retirement of Brian Kidd. The man who has been given the role at City is Colin Calderwood. Calderwood enjoyed a long playing career and has worked at plenty of top Clubs in England since retiring, and has joined City from a similar role at Norwich.

De Jong and Lescott Leave City

Manchester City have today agreed a deal that will see Luuk de Jong join Southampton for a reported £10m. It is a massive loss for City who paid over £20m for de Jong three years ago but with the arrivals of Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez he found it very difficult to get anywhere near the City first team. In three season at City, de Jong only managed 36 appearances in the Premier League and only scored one goal, although he did score a few vital goals in Cup competitions. It is also believed that City will continue to pay de Jong over £16,000 a week until the end of his contract in 2017.

City also saw long serving defender Joleon Lescott leave for Aston Villa for £3.5m. Lescott was a key member of City’s side that won the 2011/12 Premier League trophy and had been at City for 6 years. Lescott had found opportunities become limited with the emergence of Matija Nastasic and after a conversation with Kinkladze it is believed Lescott asked to leave to play first team football.

Kinkladze said about Lescott, “he is a model professional, he comes in and does his job and never complains. Joleon deserves to be playing football and I am delighted for him and wish him all the best in the future.”
