Squad Objectives
Short Term
Fill Gaps In Squad: As we have seen in the previous part, there are some major gaps in our squad. We don't have enough players, in general, to cover us for the season and we lack players in key positions. We have no natural central defenders, which is a major issue, and we have just one wide player. If we want to achieve anything on the pitch, we will need to fill these gaps.(Priority Status: Critical)
Improve Quality Of Squad: There is absolutely no point in signing twenty players to fill the squad if they don't improve our chances of reaching a high league finish. We have enough players for a starting eleven and so we must ensure that any signings we make will be of a quality that improves the standard of our team, and will help us to reach our objectives. (Priority Status: Medium)
Medium Term
Build A British Core: With Brexit on the horizon, there will be some sort of restriction on squad rules. We do not yet know what the restrictions will be but we do know that we will need some sort of British core of players in our squad in order to comply with regulations. As a result of this, it will be important for us to have a long-standing British base of the team. (Priority Status: Important)
Long Term
Develop Self-Sufficiency: An ideal for football clubs is to be able to develop players through their own academy for themselves. This would be an ideal for us, in the future. This does not mean that every player in our squad has to be from our academy but if we can get some sort of portion of our squad from our own academy, it will save us millions in transfer fees (with us not having to buy anybody in for those spots), and it will improve the image of the club. (Priority Status: Medium)
