The First Division of Uruguay is going to suffer a couple of changes. It is no longer that tournament of openings, closings, intermediates, finals and finalisimas. 16 teams, 30 dates, the first 4 to Libertadores, the next 4 to Sudamericana and the last 3 are relegated to B.
The Second Division has the promotions adjusted to the 2022 season and in addition, 4 teams from the interior have been promoted to make a 16-team tournament, with 30 dates, 2 direct promotions, play-off for the third promotion and 4 direct relegations.
In the first two divisions there are playoff rules and, precisely in case of a tie in points in continental, relegation or championship positions, a playoff game will be played. There is also a minimum capacity in the stadium to raise the level.
Regionalization starts in the 3rd division, where the second B Amateur is played in 3 regions: Montevideo, South and North. One of each is promoted directly and the second and third teams qualify to a one round playoff league for the fourth promotion.
The Primera D has 6 internal divisions on a regional basis. Montevideo's Primera D is promoted to Montevideo's 2da B. Use a certain preference in the capital because of the number of teams in its ranks.
The North of the 2nd B is divided into two geographical zones:
Northwest (Artigas, Salto and Paysandú).
Northeast (Cerro Largo, Durazno, Tacuarembó and Rivera)
The South of the Uruguayan 2nd B (or C) will be divided into 3 geographical zones:
South Central (San José, Florida and Canelones).
Southeast (Maldonado, Lavalleja, Treinta y Tres and Rocha)
Southwest (Colonia, Flores, Soriano and Río Negro).
Each with two promotions to 2nd B South.
After that, each of the departments of Uruguay has its own departmental tournament, almost all of them are in league format with only one promotion. The rare case is Montevideo with two promotions and the third by play-off.
The departments that do not offer direct promotion but with groups and play-offs are: Canelones, Colonia, Florida and Soriano.
The Uruguay Cup is played by the teams of all the divisions above the Primera D, including the Primera D. The final is played at the Centenario Centenario. The final is at the Centenario Stadium while the third place is at the Charrua. The Supercopa is a single match at the Centenario.
