March update, a revamp and… football!

Looking ahead for the next couple of weeks and beyond

SI released their final FM2011 patch that includes the January transfer window update and several fixes and tweaks. It was a good chance for a site update and normally minor updates will follow more frequently for the rest of the month, including final Genie Scout 11 version and also new versions for FMRTE 4, FM11SX and Scoutmeister among other things. They will probably be the last 2 most important weeks for FM fans until FM2012.

Moving on... I've been thinking of the next major site revamp for the past weeks and gathered plenty of good ideas to be implemented. There are a lot of things I want to change towards a vastly improved website with a focus on usability and speed. User management is going to be a priority, from personal dashboard to advanced site preferences. The purpose is that you get more control and new cool features which are currently missing; a better overall user experience.

We will be introducing regular columns written by a few of our respected members as well. I admit we failed to contribute the content we would have liked for the community, and it remains high on our to-do list. A major FAQ area needs to be prepared, because at the moment there is no such place around and I really think this is quite valuable. Everyone likes Yahoo Answers and Wikipedia, right?

I received some requests for adding real football sections to talk about and more related services such as the live scores area. We will evaluate our options and act accordingly; perhaps a marketplace with current offers on real football and gaming merchandise could be nice (e.g. Amazon), like tickets for football matches (e.g. TixDaq).

There is no fixed deadline for this revamp, but it should take shape slowly, feature by feature and not at once. I want to repay your continuous support by improving this place every year as usual. We had a successful season together and for that I’m grateful.

Have a great weekend!
