Football Manager 2023 Tactics - 4-3-1-2 Football is a Simple Thing
After three-peating the UCL with my super-team Bayern Munchen, I decided to resign and take over the Man United job, doesn't look challenging but they where 12th in the Prem.

As anyone would, I loaded my Bayern tactic, thing were going great until I realized that wasn't really enough, so I changed everything.

Inspired by Carlos Bianchi, Ramon Diaz, and Felipão, my Manchester United side started playing in a 4-3-1-2 shape, with little importance being given to possesion, the results were great.

Starting a new save, so far I have tested the tactics with 3 teams.

Dimensão Saúde (This one is obscure and in the shadow realm of the Brazilian piramid)
Oriente Petrolero (Average team from Bolivia)
Newell's Old Boys (My current team, when I started they were 27th, now we are 4th)

The main goal of the shape is to be a reliable way to attack the opposing side with speed and style, with the CWB's acting as wingers and the Strikers going in between the opposition's full backs and CB's, so they can receive long passes and cross or finish.

The midfield is a playmaking machine.

Why narrow ? I tested and this is the best width so far, feel free to change it and give your opinion.

The overlaps and pass into space is self-explanatory

Work ball into the box is for the moments when my midfield gets inspired and decides to play like prime Brazil.

The tempo/directness is just standard for everything I make, it just looks great in game.

The goal is to:
- The full backs to develop their full potential, essentially playing as wingers.
- The midfield to receive and facilitate plays, as well as creating chances with long passes.
- The strikers to exploit spaces between the oppositions Full-backs and CBs
- The shadow striker to exploit spaces between lines + the space created by the strikers movement in the middle.
- Th CBs only exist to initiate play and receive the ball from the CWBs if they don't beat their matchup or straight up doesn't want the attack to develop that side of the pitch.

Design to develop fast counter-attacks.

The amount of balls we steal with this is astounding, the trident is really nice in pressing, and at the end of day the opposition just ends up hoofing the ball forward, which if we can win the second chance the attack is essentially unstoppable.

The goal is to:
- The trident of AFs and SS to create high pressure in the CBs and DMs.
- "Wide" DLPs to dificult the ball to get to the middle through Full backs passes.
- Strikers to pressure the full backs to force that kind of pass
- CBs and center DLP to win the long ball and start the counter.
- When the ball is recovered, a fast and precise counter-attack insues.

Sadly I can't give you the results and stats for Dimensão Saúde or Oriente, but I can give you my Newell's performance, just I reminder I took the job with only 14 games in the Argentinian League left, and the team in 27th, being eliminated from everything, I only had the league to play :(

Great attacking play, where's the defensive stats ?

38 conceded in 27, yeah not that good but whatever.

This concludes the tactic discussion, please try it yourself, and tell to me what you would change!
