January Report

Preston North End 2-1 Port Vale
Beavon (29)
Keane (36)
Lopez

[spoiler=Line-ups]

We got off to a dreadful start, with Cansdell-Sherriff giving away a stupid pen within the first 10 mins. It was the first time he has gained a start in a while, I don't know if he was over eager or just plan not good enough for this team. Anyway as time went on Port Vale sat back and aloud us to play... Big mistake, from then on it was all us ending the game with 26 shots 11 on target.. how on earth we didn't put more in the back of the net. Oh well on to the nect game!

Preston North End 1-1 Rotherham
Dawkins (15)

[spoiler=Line-ups]

Played on a gusty Saturday at 0 degrees, We knew this game was going to be a mentally tough game as well as physical & although we dominated the possession and shots again it disappoints me that their goal game from the only shot they had on goal. 2 points lost, however I was more worried about the two injury's we sustained.

Wolves 0-0 Preston North End
Keane

[spoiler=Line-ups]

Pretty much a bore draw, an away day at another promotion contender with players still Championship level... Always going to be difficult, I thought we might of been able to maybe nick a goal on the counter however it wasn't to be. We were pined back quiet a lot of the game.. all in all this was a point well earned.

Preston North End 2-0 Coventry City
Hume (11)
Beavon (50)
Hume

This was all the Hume show he grabbed the 1st goal and then created the other with some beautiful combination work with Beavon all afternoon. With these two supporting Davies I really look at every game and expect us to score especially against a team down the lower end of the table. This was also the debut game for our recent signing Sarr who put in a pretty average performance however I have a good feeling about this lad.

MK Dons 0-1 Preston North End
Davies (69)
Zaliukas

[spoiler=Line-ups]

Another away game against a team always up there looking for promotion so i was glad we could sneak the win, A very good through ball from Lopez and Davies was in for a first time finish drilling it into the opposite corner, On another note Højbjerg made his debut today, he was pretty solid nothing to note as of yet but the fans sure did love him.

Bradford 1-3 Preston North End
Sarr (9)
Davies (36)
Huntington (40)
Sarr

Proud of the performance from Sarr today, he was a rock at the back making some hard but clean tackles. The game was rough and there was a lot of fouls breaking up play which in turn helped us as we could get our big lads from the back up the field. I feel Andrew Davies should be getting a further ban.. His sliding tackle on Kevin Davies from behind had us all up on our feet, disgraceful!

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg - Free Transfer - Bayern Munich

CA: PA:
Whilst scouting around the top leagues released players I spotted this lad had been let go, Well after a few discussions with a trip to Munich to meet his parents I was thrilled to see him sign on the dotted line at the Deepdale office, Not only one for the future but can make an instant impact once he is settled in.

- Out.
Josh Rees - Loan - Alfreton Town

CA: PA:
I was advised to send this lad out on loan as to give him the game time he needs to potentially spark his career. A long came Alfreton offering a 3 month loan opportunity with him being a key play in their team, After a quick chat with Josh he also thought it was good for him to get the experience.

January log.. Status: Excited. Location: Office.

Dear Diary,

My I first just point we that are STILL top of the league it really was a struggle this month to be honest, We have had numerous injury's and the Christmas period/Partying took a lot out of many first team regulars.

*Sips coffee whilst looking over match notes*

Taking a look over the squad I cant help but beem over our newest recruits they are going to be something for sure... and I'm going to make them the players I know they can be. If I had to point out a player that as stood out over this tough, cold January I would have to point out Keith Keane.. I think all his years in the lower leagues played to his advantage as he showed that the bad weather shouldn't stop a team playing well. Again rotation occurred due to colds and flu however the fans aren't to worried about our slight let up.

[spoiler=Keith Keane stats]

After my recent practical joke on Graham Westley he hit me back by taking my manager of the month title!, am sure he will have a proper smug face at hearing that I came second.

Oh how I can't wait to wipe the floor with his smug face, If fit Hume is a certain starter just to prove him wrong!

Graham Alexander
Preston North End Manager.

I'll put my next result up against PNE eventhough its not for 2 months

February Report

Preston North End 1-1 Nottingham
Beavon (6)
Beavon

After getting the early lead I thought we were in a good position to push on and get another but that was short lived as we were tagged back.. from then on it was a pretty boring game. At half time I tried pushing the lads on the attack a bit more but Notts Co did the opposite and parked the bus.

Tranmere Rovers 0-1 Preston North End
Davies (36)
Laird (72)

[spoiler=Line-ups]

In the build up the commentary team fancied us for this game although we wasn't classed as favourites, With the team seeming to have a sluggish start to the year I wasn't sure which way it would swing. Top goal scorer Davies popped in with a tidy finish which eased nerves. Then Laid had the opportunity to bring the points home with a pen however he fluffed it & from then on it was pretty so we had to drop back in the final 10 just to hold the lead.

Pre-Match

MT - Martin Tyler
NM - Neil Mellor

MT - Hello & Welcome to Deepdale for this Johnstone's Paint North Final First Leg were PNE take on promotion rivals Wolves to see who goes through to the Final held at Wembley stadium. I'm joined today by a PNE legend Neil Mellor, I'm sure you would love be down there for this fixture wouldn't you!.

NM- Hi, Haha Most defiantly, these are the game you want to be playing in making a name for yourself but I have to admit there are some big names down there warming up on that pitch!.

*Paperwork rustling*

MT - Their most defiantly is, we have just got our hands on the team sheets here today starting with the away team:

Hennesey
Doherty - Johnson - Stearman - Golbourne
Gomis - Markel - Davis
Ismail -------------- Smith
Doyle

And for the Home team:

Rudd
Keane - Huntington - Sarr - Buchanan
Welsh - Højbjerg
Lopez -------------Laird
Beavon
Davies

Does anything surprise you about the line ups that have been announced Neil?

NM- This sounds pretty much like the formation Alexander has impanted into this PNE team, the only changes that may raise an eye brow or two is Hume being left out of the starting 11 and Graham showing faith in 18 Year old Lopez.

*Both Commentators look over at the PNE team who have begun there team warm-up*

MT - Yes as you said Alexander has ignited this PNE team into fearsome force in this league one division, Neil you know him from your playing time at Preston was he the leader he has shown in this first half of the season?

NM- Most defiantly Martin, He was the one that was left at the end of the day working on extra training... driving others around him to up their work rate. When it was announced Simon Grayson had left the manger post, I think the PNE board got it bang on.. who better to bring in than a True club hero, a natural leader & down to earth person. I have a lot of respect for him and for what he has done to a team very close to my heart.

*Both teams leave the field to a roaring applause of the fans*

MT - I agree what he has done up to date with this PNE must be bring back the fans that have wavered over the past few years.

Looking at the Wolves line up they come here today with-out the pace of Bakary Sako & the work rate of David Edwards. This will surly be a blow when picking a 1st 11 for this game for Sean O'Driscoll.

Wolves come into this game off the back of a bad run of form.. win less in 4 games, The 9000 Wolves fans will be willing their team to turn that around today.

And we have just heard that the teams are lining up and ready to come out onto the field.

To Be Continued....

1 min Kick Off

Wolves line up for the kick off and its Doyle who kicks the game off.

1 min

Davies

Lopez collects the ball on the wing & He skips past Golbourne.

He sprints on into the open space to be met by Stearman, But hes too quick for him.

Lopez swings in a cross looking for Davies

Davies wrestles with Doherty at the back post but had found a yard.

GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL Kevin Davies connects with a thunderous header which goes in off the crossbar!

Not the start Wolves Wanted.

8 min

Lopez again collects the ball on the wing & Plays the ball square looking for Davies.

Davies with a quick first touch finds Beavon with his second touch & Beavon hits it first time.

Parried away by Hennessay.

Great inter-link play by the PNE front two early on.

13 min

These first 10-15 mins have been all PNE beavon manageing to get another shot away.
Wolves just sitting back and trying soaking up the pressure.

17 min

Buchanan

Buchanan upends Ismial As he tries to carry the ball into PNE's half on the counter.

24 min

As PNE apply pressure Wolves show there first signs danger as Beavon loses possession and Golburne fizzes a ball into Ismails feet.

He spins on the ball & tries to play in Doyle on the run however the ball runs through to Rudd.

34 min

The wolves fans in fine voice here, even though they trail here. You cant say they are not a passionate bunch.

42 min

Doyle tries to create something for his team.

and it nearly pays off, He picks the ball up 25 yards out and strikes the ball hard.
Rudd was well beaten but not the crossbar.

Flashes of what Wolves can do & a warning to Preston.

45 min

The half time whistle blows here at Deepdale stadium, Davies's Header separates the two teams.

Half Time

MT - Well.. that was a half of football that was dominated by this PNE team, The early goal settling any nerves & surly destroying any game plan Wolves had in place.

*Mellor Puts Pie Down*

NM - ........mmmm.... I have to agree, the way the Preston midfield have controlled the middle of the pitch has been the dominating factor. From there the front two have linked up marvellous.. I would of loved to have Kevin Davies as my strike partner. He knows how to work the space he has & his first touch is fantastic.

MT - I know everyone is going to be talking about the Davies but my stand out performer of the half has to be young Lopez, he has given Golbourne such a head ache from the word go he has shown no fear and flew down that wing to provide the assist.

NM - Everyone was a little shocked that he got the nod ahead of more experienced players such as Hume however his has proved any doubters wrong.

*Tannoy crackles & announces the teams back onto the field*

46 min

Preston get the game back under way.

52 min

Wolves should of come out firing however they don't seem to be eager enough as a wayward pass from Johnson goes out of play.

65 min

Oh its not looking good now for Wolves.

Johnson & Hennessey argue over who was at fault as a failed back pass is picked up by Beavon who puts it inches wide.

68 min

At seeing this O'Driscoll immediately signals for a double substitution:

Gomis : O'Hara
Smith : Bentley

74 min

Stearman collects a loose ball and moves the ball up to Doyle.

He lays off the ball off to O'Hara.

O'Hara searched out Ismail.

But its brilliantly cut out by Buchanan who gets across and tackles perfectly.

84 min

Laird

PENALTY! Markel Tussling with Keane to the extent that he loses his temper with the PNE man and pushs him.

Laird Steps up and places the ball down.

The spot kick is delayed whilst Hennessey is warned by the ref for cleaning his boots.
Laird steps up.....

GOAL! its in goalkeeper guesses the correct way however it is well taken and actually hits the side netting on the way in.

86 min

Double Substution for PNE teams:

Højbjerg : Wright
Laird : Humphrey

90 min

PNE keeping the ball now, Davies holding the ball in the corner & the full time whistle does!

MT - And that's that, PNE take a solid 2-0 lead to the Molineux stadium and that's me Martin Tyler signing off here at Deepdale.
Don't rub it in ;)

I've got PNE if they win against Shrewsbury in the next round of the JPT
@Cappy13 - I won't rub it in dont worry. ;) am sure you will get your chance to get your own revenge :P because we should def beat Shrewsbury!

Pre-Match

MT - Martin Tyler
RJ - Roger Johnson

MT - Welcome to Molineux, I'm Martin Tyler and I come to you here as Wolves welcome PNE for this second leg Johnstone Paint Trophy. Last time out the fixture fell in PNE's favour with them being able to secure a 2-0 lead heading into this fixture. Today I'm joined by the current injured Wolves Captain Roger Johnson who will by my co-commentator this afternoon!.

RJ - Morning Martin, I have to admit that I'm gutted at missing this game potentially I was suppose to be back by the start of this game but a few set backs have made it so again I have to sit it out on the side lines with the fans!.

MT - Well we welcome you all the same Roger and hope you are back soon, while you were in talking i have just been told the line-ups, so starting today for the home team:

Hennesey
Doherty - Iorfa - Priest - Ricketts
Ismail - Whittail - Gomis - Smith
Sigurorson - Griffths -

And for the Away team:

Rudd
Clarke - Huntington - Zaliukas - Buchanan
Keane
Mousinho - Højbjerg
Lopez ------------- Hume
Davies

Preston come here today with the only job of defending there 2-0 lead from the 1st leg, do you think this Wolves line up can over turn the odds here Roger?

RJ- Well.. hearing them line-ups PNE sound like they are going to come and play, possibly try and control the middle of the park with that extra man. Although I know my team mates and they will be fire up looking to over turn the odds here.

*Wolves fans start to chant & raise there voices for the 1st time this afternoon.*

MT - We all know anything can happen in football & the fact Wolves are at home here means they may well have a 12th man in the fans.

RJ - Yes they most certainly will!, even without players again like myself, Sako & Edwards.

*Both teams finish there pre-game warm -ups and leave the field to a roaring applause of the for the wolves team & heckling boos as the Preston team scuttle down the tunnel*

MT - Lets just hope Wolves have a plan to stop this rampant PNE Team otherwise I could see them nicking another victory away from the home team.

RJ - Looking at the both lines up the teams are very similar and I don't think these home fans will accept another lose the all whites.

MT - Sorry to interrupt again but we have just heard that the teams are lining up in the tunnel.... Lets get this show on the road.

To Be Continued....
