Racing Santander have confirmed that new signing, Xavi Marques will miss the following matches against Huesca and Ponferradina in the Liga Adelante. Xavi Marques has been the first injury casualty of the season at El Sardinero, with the midfielder asked to be withdrawn against Huesca in the Copa del Rey.

His manager, Raul, said,”It’s a shame that Xavi [Marques] had to leave the pitch, as he was having a good performance. Even though he went injured during the first-half, during half-time, Francis said that we should win this match for Xavi. We were inspired, and Zabal had to make amazing saves to keep Huesca in the game.”


The defensive midfielder will miss about 3-5 weeks of action.

Racing have confirmed that their first-team goalkeeper, Mario, has signed an additional 2 years in his contract. The Spanish goalkeeper was handed out a new contract, ahead of speculation of a move to Liga BBVA side, Celta de Vigo. The club also have confirmed that Mario will miss a month of action, ahead of crucial matches against Deportivo, Sporting in the Liga Adelante, and Cordoba in the Copa del Rey.

Celta de Vigo, who finished 6th last term, will be competing in the UEFA Europa League this season, and have already added the likes of Edu Bedia and Kiko Femenia in the summer. When Raul was asked about a potential deal involving Mario, he said,"Celta will have to pay a good amount of money for a player that has proven himself in all of Spain's professional divisions, and is a key player. The chances that we'll sell him in the winter transfer window are really low."


Mario, who will miss the crucial match-ups against Sporting de Gijon and Deportivo, believes that team-mate Daniel Sotres, will be more than capable of replacing him while he's injured. Mario said,"Daniel [Sotres] is a very, but very, talented goalkeeper. I know that ever since Raul has arrived, he has struggled to break through the team, and I think that this is his chance to prove Raul wrong."

Racing fans might be in a treat, after Racing confirmed that they have Polish goalkeeper, Pryzmelaw Tyton, on a 4 week trial. Tyton, was released by PSV Eindhoven earlier in the summer. These news come as a surprise, as Mario recently committed himself to the club by adding 2 years to his previous contract, after Celta de Vigo expressed interest in his services.


Pryzmeslaw Tyton is known for being back up to Wojciech Szcezny, Arsenal's #1, in the National team. He is also known for coming off the bench and saving a penalty when his country hosted the last Euro, in 2012. Tyton was also caught speaking with Angel Lavin, Racing's chairman, on deadline day earlier this season, but the move never went concrete. Tyton, however, will have the chance to sign for Racing, if he impresses Raul, the current manager at El Sardinero.


As the news spreaded throughout Santander, the press spoke with Daniel Sotres, who will have to cover the next couple of matches, after Mario got himself injured in training. Sotres said,"Competition for the goalkeeper spot are awfully hot during this period, and I'm ready to prove the boss [Raul] that I can be the 'go to' guy if it's needed. We all know that I've had almost no chances this season to prove myself, but I think I can put in a good performance." Sotres also was asked what was the current relationship with Mario, after his team-mate had praised him, ahead of Racing's match-up against Deportivo la Coruña tomorrow. Sotres said,"Me and Mario? We are almost inseparable, we have our own pro's on FIFA and we see who concedes the least! I'm sure he'd tell you who's better!"


On such news, Racing's fans have both positive and negative views on Tyton's arrival. Juan, an avid Racing fan who is at El Riazor today, told the press,"Tyton might be good, at least if Raul decides to sell Mario, who can bring some type of profit to the club." Nick Sherwood, a touristt and fan, said,"Tyton? Who's that guy? Bring in Heurelho Gomes, he's better than any of those crapp 'keepers." He also commented,"Christian Eriksen is the new Gareth Bale and Luka Modric. Whether Nick Sherwood is a real Racing fan, is unknown.
