January Update
Justin Credible... Just Incredible? That's right
we are doing unbelievably this season, this month has been absolutely epic! Although the teams around us have a few games in hand, it's still an awesome feeling to be 3rd in the league:
Transfers
OUT
A number of prominent individuals left Rochdale this season, and it was the perfect time for Adam Barton and Plaisir Bahamboula to leave the club to save their careers as they were surplus to requirements. Although it was very sad to see them leave, especially Bahamboula who has been a key player in our rise to the top division, they have joined teams that need them the most and I hope they enjoy better careers at their new clubs. Having said that, we did make a sizeable profit on Adam Barton's sale, and possibly in the future, both Barton and Bahamboula could be offered jobs to work here as coaches if they're good enough. Ignacio, who is a young gem in our youth ranks was sent on loan to Osasuna but was recalled after a number of days as he was unhappy in the Liga Adelante, and has now been loaned to Liga BBVA side Getafe until the end of the season. Mamadou Niang's contract was terminated as his wages took a hike to match Cesc Fabregas' high wages, and that was something I wasn't going to risk so he had to leave. He is now a free-agent. Jermaine Grandison and Esteban Lopez were sent on short term loans to regain match fitness as they had been out due to injuries.
The run we've had in January was just awesome, in fact I have ran out of words for it to be honest. Never again will anyone see a run like this by a team that's enjoying their first season in this league:
Rochdale AFC 0-0 Liverpool (H)
Barclays Premier League
Hugo Mallo (Liverpool) --

Match Review
I'm really happy with this result as it was only two days after the Manchester City match and we had to field a weak team. I still cannot believe how Liverpool didn't manage to score a single goal in this match.
Rochdale AFC 3-2 Brentford (H)
FA Cup 3rd Round
Adam Armstrong (5')
Justin Schmidt (11')
Adam Reach (28')
Scott Hogan (53')
Jordan Obita (64')
Adam Armstrong (Brentford) --
8.3
Match Review
This competition is not too important for me as I want to fully focus on the league and possibly gain access to Europe, but I was not happy to go down 2-1 in the 28th minute. So, at half-time I put Scott Hogan on and the magical comeback began.
Swansea 0-2 Rochdale AFC (A)
Barclays Premier League
Ashley Richards (o.g. 40')
Tom Huddlestone (o.g. 45+2')
Rhys Bennett (Rochdale) --
7.9
Match Review
This match is easily one of the funniest, but also the luckiest I have played this season. Would you believe it? TWO own goals by Swansea secured us the three points!
Rochdale AFC 4-0 West Brom (H)
Barclays Premier League
Jeremie Boga (pen 21', 38)
Cesc Fabregas (39')
Mehdi Yildrim (56')
Mehdi Yildrim (Rochdale) --

Goals GALORE! We are finally a force to be considered in the Premier League and this victory shows that we mean total business. I mean, if you face the squad which has Fabregas and Schmidt in the lineup, with in form Boga providing the sparks up front, why would you not fear them? Even better, this was Yildrim's debut and he scored and picked up an assist already. Also, this was Fabregas' return to English football and he also scored his first Premier League goal since leaving Arsenal for Barcelona.
Portsmouth 0-3 Rochdale AFC (A)
FA Cup 4th Round
Will Keane (15, pen 53')
Riccardo Improta (30')
Reece Brown (Rochdale) --
8.6

We scraped a 2-1 victory over Derby, and continued our awesome run well into the new year.
Rochdale AFC 1-0 Ipswich (H)

Yet again we were too good for the opponent, even though I fielded a moderate side, home advantage ensured that super-sub Boga came on and scored a late winner to clinch the three points from last season's Championship winners.
Stoke City 1-2 Rochdale AFC (A)
Barclays Premier League
Ryan Shotton (68')
Will Keane (75')
Reece Brown (83')

Match Review
This match is a perfect example of how complacency can snatch three points away from you. Stoke became complacent after scoring a late goal, and we scored two goals to counter their lead and take the points for ourselves.
Player of the Month
The PoTM award goes to Jeremie Boga. The young midfielder is totally one that I want to sign on a permanent deal from Chelsea after a series of mindblowing performances this month.
Here are the fixtures for next month:
Author's Notes
We were 8th last month. Now we are 3rd. This is impossible.
