Transfer Business

Capped Brazilian international Dudu joins Rangers for a fee believed to be around £12.75mil. He makes the journey from Dynamo Kiev after impressing a scouting team sent by Dean Byrne.
Dudu who has been compared to the likes of Willian, is a huge boost to the attacking options available for The Gers and admitted that playing in the Champions League was too good to turn away.

Young Canadian Emilio Rotiroti was snapped up on a free transfer from Montreal Impact in the MLS. Although not yet ready for first team action, Emilio looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

Having fallen out of favour at Manchester City, Fernandinho was allowed to leave on loan to Rangers until his contract expires at the end of the season. Fernandinho adds experience to the young Rangers midfield and is eager to impress his new boss.

Aston Villa agreed an undisclosed deal with Rangers allowing Spaniard Iago Falque to head north of the border. The former Spurs midfielder was given limited opportunities at Villa Park last season.

Another BPL arrival at Ibrox in the form of Josh McEachran. The Englishman joins from recently relegated Leicester City for a fee believed to be £6mil.

Smashing the clubs transfer record was Ivan Leal, who signed for Castilla, Real Madrid's B team for around £25mil. The Young Spaniard was sought after all across the world but it was The Blues who tempted him away from Madrid.

Rangers once again utilised the option of signing free agents, with Matt Phillips agreeing personal terms shortly upon his release by QPR.

The final free transfer of the summer was Ravel Morrison who was deemed surplus to requirements at West Ham United. The Englishman's attitude has constantly come into question, but it seems that Dean Byrne is willing to take a gamble on the playmaker.

Dutch defender Tom Van Es ended one of the busiest transfer windows seen in recent times. The reliable youngster was a regular at FC Twente, before a £7mil move was agreed with the Scottish Champions
Van Es and Mceachrean are awesome aquisitions :) good business
@Qwertyman - Good to be back and see someone new following :)

On Season so far

On League Form...
We going quiet strongly in the league, winning 19 of our 24 games to date. Celtic are grinding out results week in week out and it shows in the goal difference. I have tried to plug in the holes we have at the back by spending big, we just need Celtic to take their foot off the gas

On Champions League...
What an achievement for Rangers Football Club! This has been my greatest feat to date and I'm sure we have shocked a lot of people. We were bullied in most games, especially the home win against Bayern but we managed to sneak a goal! We ended the group poorly but just about got into the knockout stages by goal difference!

Newcastle approach Byrne

Newcastle United have reportedly opened talks with Rangers boss Dean Byrne about switching Glasgow for Tyneside.

Newcastle have been disappointing in the Premier League this year and sit 11th with 29 points from 23 games.

Owner Mike Aahley axed Alan Pardew last week after a crushing 4-0 home defeat to Spurs. Ashley had said that he expected to appoint a successor to Pardew within 2 weeks.

A clause in the Irishman's contract states that the Rangers board must give him permission to speak to any Premier League clubs that may show an interest in him, although it is unknown as to if Byrne has any interest in taking the job.

A statement on the official Rangers Football Club website confirmed that Newcastle were prepared to start talks with Dean Byrne, although they too are preparing contract talks.

Dean Byrne has been in charge of The Gers for 5 years now, leading the side to the top of the Scottish Premiership and also collecting a Scottish cup
dont take it they are a poisened chalice

Rangers to face Barcelona

The draw for the last 16 of the Uefa Champions League pitted suprise package Rangers against FC Barcelona.

Rangers just about managed to qualify from the so called "Group of Death" beating both Bayern Munich and Zenit to the next round on goal difference

Barcelona on the other hand had no such trouble, beating all before them in their group whilst only conceding on two occasions. They so far have the most goals in the competition with 19, and also the meanest defence.

Rangers boss Dean Byrne was present in Zurich during the draw, question marks still linger over his future at the club, with the Irishman having made no comments since Newcastle confirmed their interest in him.

Rangers were the first to be plucked out of the draw, made by guests Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luis Figo, meaning the first leg will take place in Scotland. This too is just days before a vital league game away at Celtic.
It was what your best drawing. But I wish you luck.
If you can beat Bayern, you can take Barcelona.
Thanks for the comments guys :)

February

A huge month in the title race as Rangers lost ground on leaders Celtic, falling to a 1-0 defeat in the old firm derby.

Tipped as a title deceider, Rangers headed in on the back of 3 straight wins during February, and just two points off their old foes.

Celtic had suffered defeat to Patrick Thislte leading up to the game, and with Rangers defeating struggling Ross County, the gap closed to 2 points.

However it was not to be on the day for The Gers, with out of sorts Callum Paterson heading into his own net midway through the second half.

Rangers looked the most likely team for the most part of the game to grab a winner, but they drew a blank for the first time in the season, allowing Celtic to retain their 5 point advantage

A brave Rangers were defeated by an unconvincing Barcelona at Ibrox in their last 16 tie

A full house was on show in Glasgow, with the home supporters hoping rather than expecting from their side.

However it was the Glaswegians who got the breakthrough 3 minutes into the game, with Brazilian Dudu pouncing on a goalkeeping error to fire into an empty net

The Catalan giants seemed shell shocked, but found their flow about 15 minutes into the game, with the midfield starting to get on top

After waves of pressure, their equaliser did come on the 37th minute mark, with 6 time World player of the year Lionel Messi placing a fierce shot into the bottom corner.

Just 2 minutes later they were ahead, Tin Jedvaj managed to beat the Rangers offside trap, and deftly lobbed the ball over an onrushing David Ospina to send the travelling fans into ecstasy

Barca looked to secure the tie, with Alessandro Florenzi heading home from close range shorty after the restart

Rangers did however pull one back, through young Canadian Emilio Rotiroti who too managed to power a header in from a corner

Rangers will now head to the Camp Nou knowing that they most win the game and score at least two goals, which is daunting to any team facing Barcelona.

Byrne Extends Rangers Post

Rangers Chairman Richie Wright has just announced that sought after Dean Byrne has put pen to paper on a new 2 year deal with the club

The current Rangers boss was approached by Newcastle last month, and had refused to comment on the situation

The Magpies had held off appointing a new manager as Byrne continued to ponder on the situation.

The Irishman has never shyed away from the fact that he wants to manage in the Premier League one day, but admitted earlier that Rangers was still his club

I'm delighted to extend my contract for at least two more years at this fantastic club. It's a great working enviroment and the fans are up their with the best in Europe

I'd like to thank Newcastle for showing an interest me, it was truely flattering, But Rangers are my club and I couldn't leave, not at this moment.

I'm am completely focused on the rest of the season, and especially closing the gap on Celtic. We need all our fans behind us, you are the 12th man.

Rangers are still fighting on all fronts this season, with two domestic cup finals vs Celtic to look forward to, aswell as an away trip to the Camp Nou

Rangers do the double!

Rangers have retained their Scottish Premiership after clawing back a 5 point gap with Celtic during the last two months of the season

Aswell as snatching their crown away from The Bhoys, A comprehensive Scottish cup final win added insult to injury, gaining revenge for the final defeat the previous year

Celtic led the way for the majority of the season, and even did so with just 3 games remaining until falling to defeat at Motherwell allowing Rangers to take advantage.

It had proven to be an amazing final two months for The Gers, apart from being crush at the Camp Nou by a superior Barcelona side.

Record signing Ivan Leal was in fine form for the remainder of the season, and managed to collect the golden boot award, piping teammate Matt Phillips by just one goal

In an impressive season, Rangers managed to beat their 107 goal tally last season, reaching 113 this year, 33 more than their nearest challengers Celtic managed

A leaky defence had been the cause of concern in recent years, but The Gers blocked the holes, and conceded 12 less than the previous year, with goalkeeper David Ospina collecting the golden golve award
