Doing well there mate, the play-offs await you though because obviously Hibs will win the league :P, only joking you should win the league with ease.

P.S. should your banner not read THE Rangers ;).
@PompeyBlue - Cheers mate! :D

Hibee1874 - Haha nah mate Hibs have given me some trouble this season but look at next update to see what happened to your beloved Hibs!

December - A Very Merry Christmas!

A fantastic Christmas period for Rangers ensured they would remain top going into the new year. Hibernian had a month to forget including a 6-0 home defeat to Livingston which has given The Gers a strong lead

On the results...
I couldn't have asked for a better month! Hibernian had a shocker and only won once or twice in the month so the gap pretty much grew every week. The away victory against Ross County was particularly pleasing seeing as they are one of the so called "Big 3" in the league. We also got revenge over Queen of the South after they beat us earlier in the season.

On player performances...
Two people in particular who impressed me this month were Leigh Griffiths and Nicky Law. Griffiths managed to hit his 100th league goal in this month in his career and by the way he's going he can target 100 for our club within the next few seasons. Many of his goals have come through the efforts of Nicky Law. He's got the most assists since I have taken over and now he's starting to add goals to his game. He would be my vote for Player of the month.

On transfer window opening...
It's always an exciting time for any club. We are well stocked at the minute and I can't see to many deals being done unless we get some injuries. Maybe I will look into the possibility of resigning Lewis Macleod on a permanent deal even though that would mean we would make a substantial loss but in hindsight it was a big mistake letting him go.

On league position...
After only being 2 points ahead last month, we now find ourselves 12 points ahead of our nearest challengers Hibs. People had started to question if we were ready to go up this year after our defeat at Hibernian and this month we have answered them. Granted, Hibs have had a poor month but that's none of our concern, if we play like we have this month then we will be facing Celtic regularly next season
Really good writing and results! well done keep it up :)

Great update and great month :)
@Team Lift - Thanks mate appreciate it! :D

@Pompeyblue - Cheers mate! :)

The transfer window had just opened yesterday and after opening a 12 point lead going into Christmas, I figured it would be a good time to start thinking about promotion, or at least the playoffs. We have crawled ourselves out of our financial mess, but I never got a takeover I would have liked. At the minute our transfer budget stands at a measly 550k so I thought I'd pay the board a visit. I have done well enough at the club so surely they would back me up. We don't want a mid-table finish next year if we go up, and with the current squad that's what we would probably achieve.

Tuesday was like any other day, we started training early, had a quick meeting ahead of the game against Hibernian and then I let the lads go back to their families. Usually then I would stay to have a chat with my assistant but instead I went straight to my office and put on my bets suit. I had scheduled a meeting with the board for 2.00am so I wanted to be there 10 minutes early.

Dean Byrne - Rangers Manager
Richie Wright - Rangers Chairman

Ah, Dean your early. Well sit down then and enlighten us about what this is all about.

How are you Richie? Yeah I have something I would like to discuss with you which I feel is very important for our club going forward

If I had a penny for every time I told you there are no feeder clubs about! Just focus on your job.

That's not what I've come here to discuss Mr.Chairman. You know as well as I do we should be up with Celtic next year and we have the squad of a team like Inverness! I need more cash with the window opened.

Can't you wait until summmer? We're doing fine in the league and I see no immediate reason to spend money that we don't have.

Of course we have the money, we have been profiting monthly! We have Celtic in the cup in two months then you will see the difference in quality. Do you know how our fans feel every time we lose to them? If we don't spend now and let the squad gel before next season we will be in big trouble

How much are you looking for? You have to remember we already have the biggest budget in the league

If we want to challenge next year I would be looking at the £10.000,000 mark. This is what we would be looki-

10 million bloody pounds! Sorry to cut across you there but we don't have that money. I have the same ambition as you Byrne but we need to be realistic here. How about 2?

I honestly thought you cared about this club as much as I do but clearly you're more interested in profits. Well you can keep your money and perhaps we will sell our best asests? Good day Richie

I was raging, how were we going to compete next season with 500k? I downed a some scotch and dreamed of what a takeover could have done for the finances of the club. I flicked open the computer to check some of my emails, I had heard that a lower league club had asked about taking one of our players on loan. However another email had caught the attention of my eye.

Good to see you persuaded them to bump up the budget!

Nice update, too
Cheers mate! :)

Two New Arrivals At Ibrox

Marek Cech

After impressing on a loan spell at the start of the season, Marek Cech has agreed a deal to join Rangers permanently at the end of the season for around £85,000

The 32 year old Left back had previously been with Bologna but had found match opportunities limited with the Italian club. Dean Byrne had taken him on loan at the start of the season to act as cover to Lee Wallace but after some impressive turnouts, Lee Wallace was pushed further up and Cech has become a regular at left back.

The Slovakian has enjoyed a career which has seen him play in many countries around the globe, including spells with West Brom, Porto and Sparta Prague. He has been capped 54 times by his country and continues to force his way into the side.

"We're delighted to sign Marek permanently from Bologna. He's impressed me with his contribution this season and his experience will serve us well in the coming years"

Johnny Russell

Rangers completed a season long loan of Derby County's Johnny Russell with an option to buy for £2,000,000 at any stage of the loan

The former Dundee United striker has so far found it difficult to adjust to Derby's style of play and was allowed to leave on loan. It is believed that Rangers are keen on making the loan into a transfer but are waiting to see what he performs like.

Russell, who enjoyed arguably his best years at Dundee United, is a proven striker at the highest level in Scotland and managed 46 goals in 120 games with Dundee.

"It's another fantastic signing for us and improves our firepower even further. Leigh Griffiths will still be our main striker but now we have variety and can play 2 up top if we wish. We'll try him out wide to get him settled in, he has a great burst of pace so he will scare any fullback in the country"

a good signing their and a loan signing! both look very good mate:)

Wow, 2m sounds like a lot, at least when you started :P. Good luck, and hopefully both of the players perform! Will you be looking to sign Russell at the end of the loan?

@AaronJFT96 - Cheers mate :)

@Pauker - Yeah i was skinted at the start :P If he plays well then yes, I tried to get them to knock down the price but they were having none of it!

January - A Big Win

Rangers managed to defeat 2nd place Hibernian en route to enjoying an unbeaten month. Although 2 disappointing draws may have dampened their joy.

On the results...
We avenged our 4-2 home defeat to Hibs with the same scoreline in their backyard! They led twice so we showed good character to fight back and win the game. We had a bit of a poor spell with two draws in games we should have won but all in all it was a good month.

On player performances...
Both new signings were on the scoresheet this month with Marek Cech and Johnny Russell both scoring against East Fife. Once again Nicky Law was the standout player. He contributes so many assists it's actually unbelievable! Both Leigh Griffiths and Lewis Macleod had good months too

Scottish Premiership outfit knocked out a Rangers side who had much of their big names on the bench, perhaps resting for the old firm in 3 days time

On the result...
We put up a better fight than I thought we would. This is a cup I would have liked to win but after seeing the Old Firm was just days away, I decided to rest some key players. A 93rd minute winner hurts though, but we need to focus for the semi final against Celtic now
Very nice updates :) shame about the draws
