Yeah, It was a great month for the side! :) The goalscorers really turned up! Thanks for the comment.

Glad to see that you have turned around your poor start to the season into the stunning 100% last month you just had!

Thanks so much pompey! I'm really enjoying your Portsmouth story too! :)

The Tyne-Wear Derby

Vs.

MT: Hello and welcome back to coverage for the Tyne-Wear derby, between Newcastle and Sunderland. The Stadium of Light is packed today for what will sure be a fascinating match. And presenting it to you today, Martin Tyler and Alan Smith.

AS: Well, the Tyne-Wear derby is always a great game to watch. Newcastle, who haven't lost for 10 games now are 6-4 favorites over the home side, who are just 4 points behind the Magpies.

MT: Yes, It would be hard to imagine Newcastle losing this one, but miracles happen, and Sunderland need one today to take all 3 points. Now, the lineups are in!

AS: Newcastle have gone with their standard 4-5-1 today, and this team is packed with talent. It's been hard to beat the tandem of Javier D'Amico and Karim Rekik in the back so far, but Sunderland need to do it to take 3 points here. The key player for Newcastle today has to be Maninho. The young Brazilian loanee was Premier League player of the month for October, and if he's on good form, then he'll be nearly impossible to stop.

MT: Sunderland have opted for a 4-2-3-1, with Jim Moran and Thomas Caroll spearheading the attack. Moran has been the X-Factor for Sunderland. He moved here for a whopping 34 million pounds but has been unable to find the net more than twice thus far. However, he's one of the worlds best when he's on his game. Now, the match is about to begin.

AS: And we're Off! (1)

MT: Ooh, Roberts steals the ball from Skopljanic and has an effort from just outside the box ot it's an easy save for Alex McCarthy and it's still 0-0. (7)

AS: It's a corner for Sunderland now. The ball is played into the box. Okore with the goal at his mercy! And it's blocked by Simeon Tanev. That surely would have been a goal if not stopped by Tanev there. (23)

MT: It's a goal kick for Newcastle now. The ball is played out to Bruno Fernandes, who wins it in the air. The ball is flicked on to Johannes Sariola who strings a perfect pass into Maninho. MANINHO! He's somehow missed the breakaway! Brilliant save but Butland there. (33)

AS: We're nearing the end of the half now, the ball is in the corner for Sunderland. It's crossed in to Jim Moran at the front post and SAVED by McCarthy. For a second I thought that was in. Finally, the ref blows for half-time. It's been an exciting first half, but at the break, it's 0-0 (45).

MT: Well, It's Sunderland who are in control here at the Stadium of Light. They've had 16 shots to Newcastle's 2.

AS: Yeah, you can see Francesco Totti is frustrated with his team at half time. He's shaking his head and I think we'll see some changes being made.

MT: You're absolutely right Alan, Nicolo Barella is coming on for Yann M'Villa, who's had a poor game.

AS: And the second half is underway! (46)

MT: Thomas Caroll at the top of the box now, he's beaten his marker, and his shot clangs off the bar! So close for Sunderland, who are really pressing. (48)

AS: GOALLL! It's a goal for Sunderland. Jim Moran taps home a cross from the edge of the area and it's 1-0! The stadium is going wild! Goal for Moran! (67)

MT: And that's full time. Sunderland pull of a shock result and beat the in-form Newcastle 1-0. Totti looks furious with his team, who were simply outplayed today!
Great update but unlucky with the result.

December 2019

It was a season of good cheer for many around the world. Kids rejoiced and celebrated the joyous season. Except it wasn't a season of good cheer for us at Newcastle. It was a season of despair, because we couldn't get the points when we needed them. I knew that this was going to happen. I knew that eventually we would fall off the cliff. And boy, fall off the cliff we did. The games we had this month were awful. We played the best two teams in the league in 2 consecutive games, and we were absolutely dominated. That would destroy the morale that was carefully built up through the last 2 months. Everything we worked for in our nice little 2 month stretch was destroyed. Thankfully, the transfer window is right around the corner, so we can get rid of some of the deadwood that is haunting the squad. Maybe that we'll turn around our fortunes.

Analysis

The results speak for themselves, this month was a disaster! Out of a possible 27 points this month, we took 7. For those of you keeping score, that's 26% of the best possible scenario, compared to 100% last month. Let me walk you through another stat, Goals. In 9 games this month, we scored 4 goals. That's .44 goals per game. Last month, that was 2.6 goals per game. Yes, how times have changed. I knew it was going to be a tough month. Manchester City haven't lost a single game, and Arsenal have lost just 2. Chelsea have lost 3. Yes, we played those three teams, all in a row, and it killed morale. Combined, we lost 7-1 in those 3 games, which is nothing less that diabolical. It didn't help that we lost the Tyne-Wear Derby either, a game which the fans consider extremely important. We played as individuals this month, not as a team, and we looked discombobulated out on the pitch. It looked as if we hadn't played with each other at all before our horrible run of form. Before the month, I was certain that we would lose to City, Arsenal, and Chelsea, all top 4 teams. What I didn't predict, was the collapse continued against Sheffield United, Nott Forest, and Hull. None of those sides are higher in the league than 15th, yet we took a measly 4 out of 9 points against them, and we took just 1 out of 6 at our fortress, St. James Park. The game against Shef United hurt the most, considering Elvis Skopljanic had 2 great chances to win us the game right before that devastating 88th minute winner that sent the fans into boos. The only plus this month was the Europa League. Our win against Milan assured that won the group, which means we wouldn't be going up against a Champions League side who finished 3rd. That was a relief for sure. Next month won't get much easier, with Tottenham, Liverpool, and Man Utd all coming up. Yes, our season of misery could continue for a another month. Let's pray that doesn't happen.

We're currently 11th, 3 points behind 10th place Liverpool and 6 points behind 5th place Stoke. It's actually still pretty close. If we can catch fire in January that we can be right back in the race for Europe next year. It's one of the only positives in a very negative month.

The Europa League draw pitted us with Bursaspor, a side from Turkey. If we manage to win that tie that we go on to play either

Dortmund or Dynamo Kyiv.

Player of the Month

Our player of the month is

Simeon Tanev. The Bulgarian center back was the only one who kept games from being complete routs. He played great against Chelsea and Arsenal, picking up man of the match in the latter. Hopefully the Bulgarian can continue to be the anchor in the back I expected him to be when he signed for the club.
Not the best month but its good you won vs milan :)

Half-Term Report Card (Part 1: Competitions)

Barclays Premier League: C

The board wanted me too finish top half this season, and I'm pretty close to exactly there. We're packed in the middle of the table, close to 5th and yet close to 14th at the same time. We're at the stage where anything can happen, and a single hot streak or crash in form can make or brake our whole season. Our exact position is 11th which isn't good but isn't terrible at the same time. We are perfectly ok, and for that, we get a C.

UEFA Europa League: A-

We qualified for the Europa League by means of the F.A. Cup, but that hasn't stopped us from winning Group I and moving on to the knockout stages. Although we experienced some early struggles, we played magnificently and won our last games to win the group on goal differential. That involved taking a fantastic 4 out of 6 points off of Italian Giants A.C MIlan, who currently sit at the top of the Serie A, 4 points in front of Juventus. We'll e playing Buraspor in the 1st knockout stage, a tie we should win easily. That at least deserves a solid A-

Capital One Cup: D

Our capital one cup run was limited to just one game, a 1-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield. . It wasn't a very exciting run of course, but It wasn't an extremely important competition to me, so I wasn't too bothered by our elimination.

Note: The next update will be Transfer grades, which will be the 2nd and final part.
great update! :) doing well progressing in the UEFA Europa League, good luck in the second half of the season :)
