Keegans Notes

Once we had gone 29 games unbeaten I asked for two big friendlies to play so they got me Scotland who are 22nd in the World but first a match against Germany, the old enemy.

So I went to watch John Stones 3 times and decided to call him up. I also decided to call up Davy Gordon as he had performed excellently for Man City. He will also get a debut at some point.

Squad to play Germany and Scotland

I attended the World Cup draw this week too and I was not happy with the draw.
We were pulled out in group B, ranked 2nd in the World we have a serious chance of World Cup glory and are 29 games unbeaten.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/819/wu2s.jpg/
Uruguay ranked 22nd in the world finished 4th in there World Cup Qualifying campaign, behind Argentine, Brazil and shock winners Chile. They will be hoping that Carlos Gomez, who moved to Inter from Corinthians will fire them to the win.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/268/upro.jpg/
The U.S.A, ranked 27th in the world finished 2nd behind Mexico in there qualifying campaign with Canada also qualifying for the world cup. Aaron Hayes, 23 is worth 24m and plays right back. This is our tricky game of the group.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/689/wbtf.png/
Romania, 19th in the world qualified for the World Cup by defeating Ukraine in the playoffs, they will be hoping that 26m striker Gabriel Lancu who plays for A.C. Milan can fire them into the next round.

There could have been worse groups but we are definitely in the pick of them. I then arranged friendlies against Croatia, Mexico, Turkey, Al-Ahli(QAT) and Slovakia to warm up for the tournament and I am very happy with these arranged friendlies.

Now to the German match!

Last time we played them it was Ruud Gullit's last match and they won 5-0. I started Will and Thomas in the midfield and gave Davy Gordon his debut, against the Germans this is huge for him. Tom Ince got the nod to play in this rather troublesome left midfield role.

Team to start against Germany

The Germans had said that they were going to be the team that stopped England becoming 30 games unbeaten, which meant they thought they were going to win. However hilariously that backfired straight away as they left Charlie unmarked after 5 minutes, where as usual for England he put his free header away after a wonderful cross by Luke Shaw.

Germany however equalized after 21 minutes when Roling played a delightful through ball to LLiadis slotted it in to make it 1-1 then 4 minutes later and the Germans had the lead when Roling who has been amazing this half hit a shot from 16 yards that hit the post and went in.

Half time I told them that we can not lose to our winning streak. on the 49th minute Alex, who was on as a sub delivered the perfect corner for Steven to head in for 2-2 and we were back in it. 8 minutes later and we were in the lead when Austin chipped the ball into the path of the Barcelona winger Oxlade-Chamberlain who powered it home and we were winning. Then Charlie who had been impressive all match then finished off a delightful 1 touch move into the top corner. 4-2 and Germany were disposed and we are 30 games undefeated.

Then we went to Hampden park to face a Scotland team who also had won the last 5 matches. I gave Clyne a start at left back and Stones also alongside Phil. Nixon and Austin started up front for us too.

Team to play Scotland

This was one of the most entertaining matches of football I have witnessed. Wilshere teed up Nixon to score a piledriver followed by 7 minutes of madness as Will and Jack scored two free kicks. 3-0 up and cruising but Scotland have Jordan Rhodes! He won and converted a Penalty and then won a free kick which led to a corner in which he headed in. Rhodes really, really impressed me.

Half Time I told them to get tighter onto Rhodes, so we did. Ross scored a free kick and we had made it 31 games undefeated, are we ever going to get beat!!!?!?!?!?!
@Hort - thanks for your comment hort im starting to think you want phil jones in bed looool
1
Great results and great streak!

Keegans Notes

I love these times of the year. It is officially now the start of the build up to the World Cup in Qatar. We start with a very difficult match against the country that won the European Championship's against us, Croatia.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/yi2l.jpg/
Zaha in for the injured Smalling

I only changed two faces for this squad and Tom Carroll lost out to Harry Kane along with Sam Byram out for James Ward-Prowse. Chris Smalling got injured in training so I replaced him with Wilfried Zaha, who was in good form for Manchester United and is one of the guys most likely to be at the centre of a tug of war at the end of the season.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/834/l1oe.png/
Squad for friendly for Croatia

This game is big for me because they beat us in the European Championship Finals. I chose to start Nathan, Ross and Danny.

Team to play Croatia

I was encouraged from the start of this as Steven hit the post from a 2nd minute corner and then Croatia did the same thing. Wayne Smith who is now the permanent right back for me hit a wonder cross but for once Austin could not convert it.

Then in the 23rd minute we deservedly got our breakthrough when Ward-Prowse danced through the defence and made it 1-0. We celebrated like it was the World Cup final because amazingly we went into this game as underdogs! We were playing like stallions, we then hit a second goal in the 41st minute when Barkley won a free kick and then scored it but he definitely didn't mean it either. I told them at half time that they were playing brilliantly and in the second half we hit the bar 3 times. We had won and made it 32 games unbeaten and this is getting like a dream now!!!!
Loving this story fam, wanna see a repeat of 1966 ;)

Keegans Notes

I had done a lot of research before naming my preliminary squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Preliminary 30 man squad

The Goalkeepers will be going as I only named 3 of them. Joe, Jason and Jack will be going to the World Cup. Chris Smalling has incredibly missed out and this is only because his form has been shocking! I expect Phil and Steven to be in the final 23 man squad.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/3607.jpg/
Jones is expected to be on the plane to Qatar

Wayne Smith also has a good chance of making the squad and Eric Dier is back in the England fold after impressing for Liverpool this season. Bertrand and Shaw look dead Certs to make the squad too.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/28/uwbn.jpg/
Bertrand will probably go to his last World Cup

The midfield is also a big area of interest. Ross, Alex, Nathan, Jack and Will should all be there which means there are two places up for grabs. Tom and Raheem have won the Ukrainian Premier League with Shakhtar so will be pushing for a place in the 23. Davy Gordon has been good for Man City and George and Wilfried are also playing well for there clubs too. It is a fierce battle for these two places.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/191/osy7.jpg/
Sterling is leading the vote for the fans choice to go to the World Cup

Striker wise I already have my idea of who to take. Charlie will be going to what will probably be his last tournament, Danny Welbeck will too I would think. Alan Nixon has been a regular feature but Saido, Harry and Marc Whitfield will be fighting for the 3rd spot or a 4th spot if i do decide to take 4. Expect Danny and Charlie to be there though.

Harry Kane is going to fight tooth and nail for a place at Qatar 2022

Keegans Notes

Today I went onto Sky Sports News to announce my 23 man squad for the forthcoming World Cup to Qatar and it was a strong squad full of experience and a bit of youth involved too. I am going to name this squad with a picture, Name, Age, Club and Caps and Goals and then explain why.

So lets start with the Goalkeepers.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/b6lp.jpg/
Name: Joe Hart
Age: 35
Club: Manchester City
Caps/Goals: 125/0

I chose Joe because he is still in my view our best Goalkeeper. He has overseen this Nation becoming one of the most feared in the World and people say that with him in goal we have a genuine chance of lifting the World Cup.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/199/kmei.jpg/
Jason Steele
31
Celtic
6/0

Jason is unlucky that Joe has been awesome for the last 3 years. That is when Jason become good and deserves to go to the World Cup and I would not worry about sticking him in goal.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/809/7oe1.jpg/
Jack Butland
29
Stoke
4/0

Jack has been solid whenever I have called on him and he is a deserving call to go to the World Cup. I can not wait for these three keepers to train with England.
I have made sure that the Keepers have international experience so lets move onto the Defenders.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/d8lq.jpg/
John Stones
27
Newcastle
5/0

John fully deserves this call up. I pick my squads on form and this guy hit form absolutely on time so easily has played his way into the 23 man squad for the World Cup.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/203/3mpx.jpg/
Nathanial Clyne
31
Arsenal
41/0

Clyne is a regular under me and I fully expect the 31 year old, who probably has one more tournament in him to start in Qatar. He has been in brilliant form for Arsenal this season.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/838/1x62.jpg/
Phil Jones
30
Manchester United
60/1

Phil has been a stalwart for me for around 3 years now and he will start in Qatar with Chris Smalling missing out. I hope he will add to his 1 goal he has scored for England too.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/841/oojx.jpg/
Luke Shaw
26
FC Bayern Munich
54/6

Luke is still my first choice Left back but not by much. Ryan is pushing him but the Bayern man has really picked up his form in the second half of the season and his spot in the 23 was never in doubt.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/19/2qla.jpg/

Steven Caulker
30
Manchester United
59/7

Caulker, who has 59 caps to his name is now very experienced and will probably be his last World Cup, because I mean he is 30 now. I am excited to see him at the World Cup too.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/823/8fo0.png/
Wayne smith
23
Manchester City
10/0

Wayne has been the undisputed right back and will be again. This youngster is one of the best youngster's out there at the moment and he will experience his first taste of an International Tournament.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/827/fv9f.jpg/
Ryan Bertrand
32
Swansea City
13/0

Ryan is a experienced pro who has not won enough caps, but with Shaw playing so well, he might get a game or two. Does deserve to be there though.

So that is all the defenders and I have a experienced bunch. I think this generation of players need to win a world cup or it will have been for nothing.

The midfielders:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/13/lcka.jpg/
Adam Forshaw
30
Norwich City
2/1

Adam has been pretty unlucky because I gave him his debut against Brazil 2 years ago but because of the midfield talent I have if you are not in form you don't get picked...... good job he is now then because he goes to the World Cup and I am so pleased for the lad.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/836/rwe2.jpg/
Nathan Redmond
28
Chelsea
19/3

Nathan is one of my favourite players, I gave him his debut in 2018 and he scored against wales for his first goal in 2019. He is one of the main challengers for that left midfield role for the first match in the World Cup.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
28
Barcelona
95/27

Alex is one of the main key men at the World Cup. 95 caps and 27 goals makes him a hotshot midfielder and I would be silly not to start him on the right. He played every match for Barcelona since moving there for over 31m.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/24/pd0m.jpg/
Raheem Sterling
27
Shakhtar Donetsk
12/0

Sterling is the peoples choice and makes the squad because of that. He was part of the winning Shakhtar squad who wont the Ukrainian High League. He is challenging for the left midfield birth too for the world cup.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/xrcd.jpg/
Ross Barkley
28
Manchester City
38/13

The England Vice Captain, who has only 38 caps to his name is probably going to challenge Will, Thomas and Jack to the central midfield position. He is there on merit and is a World Class player.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/21/cbmn.jpg/
Thomas Carroll
29
Shakhtar Donetsk
12/2

Carroll is a late bloomer, signed by Shakhtar for around 8m he was a member of the first team who has just won the Ukrainian title. Him and Sterling are doing well in the Ukraine and he has just signed a new deal worth 89k a week. Fully deserving call up.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/829/rygb.jpg/
Jack Wilshere
30
Arsenal
92/20

Surely a sure fire starter according the the media. Jack is the model professional and the guy who I always know will give his heart and soul to the cause. If i had not had took Jack I would have been shot I think!!

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/14/3n9m.jpg/
Will Hughes(Captain)
27
Manchester United
49/11

Will is the complete footballer and I am proud to have helped make him become the England player that I new he would and sits on 49 caps. He WILL start the first match and probably every match as he is my captain. I look forward to him leading out the team.

They are the midfielders and I think my strongest area of the squad. I am excited though about my attackers too. Daniel Sturridge missed out due to injury.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/abls.png/
Alan Nixon
23
Arsenal
9/4

The Arsenal hotshot youngster was a definite pick as his Arsenal form is awesome and helped them win the Premier League again! Nixon who was given his international debut against N.Ireland in 2020 scored on his debut and he has not looked back since.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/853/kgbg.jpg/
Harry Kane
28
Norwich City
4/0

Some people were shocked that I picked Harry ahead of Saido but I do not see why as he was one of the most inform Strikers this season scoring 20 premier league goals.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/513/rth9.jpg/
Danny Welbeck
31
Manchester United
104/59

Well Danny's record speaks for itself! he averages a goal less than every 2 games. He is vastly experienced and with Charlie they have one of the most unlikely but deadliest partnerships for any country.

And last but not least
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/9/z6vx.jpg/
Charlie Austin
32
Fulham
32/19

Charlie, since I bought him in has made himself undroppable. He grabbed 4 on his debut and has a couple more hat-tricks too so has to come with us to Qatar as without him and Danny we would not be going.

So that is the 23 man squad and I can not wait to get them to Qatar now and also to play these warm up games. Let me know what you think and thanks for reading Keegans notes!
Hopefully they are conditioned enough for the weather.
Good team that you have, Your squad is a tad old though, Good luck in Qatar
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/191/dzk2.png/

Keegans Notes

So after playing Mexico, in which we won 6-1 in a friendly the inevitable happened and we got defeated. Turkey were our conquerers but to me I thought we needed that defeat to show them we were not unbeatable.

The media got right onto my back saying that my team was too old and dated to make a run for the world cup. We went on to beat Al-Ahli and Slovakia to get our confidence back just as the World Cup was starting.

The first match is against Romania and go for Will, Jack and Nathan to start in the areas where I am blessed. Will obviously captains the team.

Team to face Romania

We started poorly and Romania raced ahead into the lead. Good work by Torje and Stanciu set up William to drill it past Joe, but when we thought it could not get any worse it did! Nistor scored what would be voted the goal of the tournament when he skinned the English defenders like they were not there. He then executed a deftly chip over Hart to make it 2-0 and we were in dissaray. I got the boys in at half time and had a right go at them. Me and Nicky (Butt) went bazerk. I made no changes and the shouting worked as on the 48th minute we were back in it, when Danny latched onto Charlie's ball and BANG! top corner of the net.

8 minutes later and Will had drawn us level with a smashing free kick which the Keeper made a hash of and let it spill into the back of the net. I had made two subs as Alex and Jack came off for Adam and James. It was Adam that set up Danny for the 3rd goal. He skinned the two wingers before drilling in a early cross for Danny to latch onto and score easily. We held on to make it 1 out of 1 although the Romanians scared us and I told the team not to perform like that first half again.

The second match was against Uruguay and I made a couple of changes, bringing in James and moving Jack to attacking midfield. I felt he had more to threaten the Uruguayans than Will did.

Team to play Uruguay

The match got underway, 48,000 fans were there and 3/4 were English and they did not have to wait very long for the first goal as a corner from Redmond met the head of Caulker only to have it diverted for an own goal by Seb Diaz. 3 and a half minutes played and 1-0. But Uruguay are a good team and they fished and fished for the first half and got a justified reward when Cavani flew past a static English defence and rounded Hart to score the equaliser. Half time I told the lads they were in control and should still win.

On the 54th minute, subsitute Harry Kane delivered a delightful ball for Charlie to smash home to make it 2-1! Then 2 minutes later and Austin had his second goal of the match via a penalty given away by Diaz. Finally on the 88th minute Charlie Austin scored his hat-trick and scored a bullet header from a Sterling cross.

I am very pleased with the first two matches really and can not wait to play the U.S.A.
Fantastic start to the World Cup and great comeback vs Romania, good luck for the next game!

Keegans Notes

We need to make sure we win the group unbeaten! That is what I said to my players before this crunch match with the American's. Nathanial comes in for Wayne and Ross and Jack in the middle of the park.

Team to play U.S.A

This was a hell of a performance by our men. U.S.A are deemed to be one of the up and coming nations. Claude-Gyau scored the first goal in the 11th minute when Marcum and Altidore combined to allow Gyau a free shot and it nestled sweetly into the back of the net for 1-0 U.S.A.

Now 5 years ago we would have quit and allowed the Americans to run riot but that was not the case this time as in the 21st minute Nathan drilled in a corner and Steven Caulker got us back level with a header any centre back would have been proud of. Ten minute later and Danny Welbeck had scored to make it 2-1 at half time. He threaded a ball through to Charlie who had hit the post, only for Danny to grab the rebound.

I subbed Charlie and Jack at half time for Harry and Will to devastating effect. Will set up Danny to smash home a volley for 3-1, then curled a free kick into the top right hand corner for 4-1. Will then delivered a pin point free kick onto Harry Kane's head for 5-1, Omar Gonzalez scored an own goal for 6-1. Ross Barkley then scored a low driven free kick to give England a SEVEN goals to ONE victory and an easy passage to play Columbia in the 2nd Round.

I decided to plump for Wayne at Right Back and recall Will for Jack. I love managing this squad and before this match I turned down the FC Bayern job and stalled on the Nottingham Forest Job.

Team to Play Columbia

I was excited for this match and we made a flying start to this match. We seem to have a lot of own goals scored for us. Iburbo scored an own goal on the 14th minute to make it 1-0 to us. Iburbo then went up the other end and scored a header from a corner then Ross scored yet another free kick to send us in 2-1 up. We had started really well and I was very happy at half time with what I was seeing. In the 48th minute James Rodriquez then hit a scorcher to make it 2-2. Charlie, Jack and Raheem then hit the bar and it was forced into Extra time.

In the 103rd minute Charlie fed the ball to Raheem who hit a cross field ball to Nathan and the cross was headed clear then Welbeck smashed the volley home to send the fans into raptures as England won 3-2 because we held on and I told them that Chile would be a lot more tougher than Columbia was.

Damn 7-1 nice result
Absolutely storming!
