Amorim To Face Gil Vicente?




In what could be the biggest shock selection this season, Azevedo has confirmed that his Under-19 striker, Jorge Amorim will start against Gil Vicente in the Liga Zon Sagres.

Amorim has had a very successful season so far in Group 1 of the Portuguese under-19 leagues and in the under-19 Champions League campaign which Braga unfortunately came bottom of.
Amorim is the top scorer in his under-19 league and Azevedo obviously has lots of faith in him to put him in from the start in a competitive game.

This is not the first time Azevedo has pumped his confidence into the youth team, though. He gave a chance to winger/striker Federico Pardini back in August to, coincidentally, Gil Vicente, and the risky decision paid off as the Italian, who played left-wing in that game assisted Jimmy Briand's goal in the 32nd minute which was ultimately the winning goal in that game as it finished 2-1 to Braga with the other goal from center back Alex.

January Update


The best month this season without a shadow of a doubt. We didn't lose a single match and played extremely well against top teams like Sporting and Benfica. On top of this, we've earned ourselves a semi-final draw in the League Cup against Benfica after a flawless Group Stage campaign.

A very tough month ahead for us in February with League Cup matches, Champions League matches and tough league matches. We play Sporting and Benfica before the big game against Manchester United in the knock-out round of the Champions League, the furthest we've ever got in the tournament and we won't be wanting to stop here. We want to win against Man Utd.



Player of the Month

Jorge Amorim



He's only played three matches for us this month but the fact that he has adapted so well so early is great. He's scored 2 goals in 3 games which any striker would be happy with as a 17 year old coming into the first team. He's linked up so well with Federico Pardini, this shows because whichever game Amorim scored in, so did Pardini!

1000th Posts - Thanks FM Scout!


As this is my 1000th post on FM Scout, I will take a look back at my time on FM Scout, and most importantly, at Braga. First of all, I have some people to thank here on FM Scout.


I've made a lot of stories on FM Scout, many never really got going but a few have been quite successful on here. Here are some of my best stories!


Braga


579 days into my job at Braga, lets take a look back at Armando Azevedo's career in management!

Azevedo was just a normal fan, watching his team from the stands. Until he received that call from the chairman of his team following a night out with him. He went from a nobody to a worldwide success story as you find out.


It all started a bit rough after an opening day defeat to Marítimo. People were starting to worry if the chairman, Salvador was drunk when he hired Azevedo. What followed shocked the footballing world...

Wins in the Europa League took them all the way to the Quarter-Finals where they unluckily drew Manchester City, the ultimate runners-up and lost 5-0 on aggregate. But on the 11th of May 2014, Azevedo changed the clubs history forever. Going into April, it was almost certain Braga were to win the league after such a consistent season, a loss to Pacos de Ferreira changed that completely. On the final day, Braga were only leading on goal difference and were playing one of the toughest teams in the league, Sporting. A nightmare side to play against.

26 minutes in... Jimmy Briand gets down the line for Braga... He meets the halfway line and punts it forward towards Afonso Alves... Perfect ball! He's taken it around Patriciooooooooo!!!! ALVES!!!!!!!!! GOL GOL GOL GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLASO!!!

44 minutes in... Éder delivers the corner for Braga... Rojo nods it away, Alves on his chest inside the box... THUMPED IN BY ALVES!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A GOAL AND ALVES MAY HAVE JUST WON BRAGA'S FIRST EVER LEAGUE TITLE!!!!!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Them two minutes defined Azevedo's career so far.

February Update


Another great month, I think we've taken the new year as a whole new change! We haven't lost since the end of December! Not only have we been dominating teams but we've put one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals as we beat Manchester United 2-0 at Estádio AXA in the 1st knock-out round.

We face quite a laid back start to March as we play Marítimo and Setúbal before we go into the huge Champions League tie against Manchester United. At the end of the month, we face runaway leaders FC Porto in the Taca de Portugal semi-final as we try and regain our title we won last season.



Player of the Month

Jorge Amorim



You may be thinking 'is he really good or is he just playing well for his age?'. Well the answer to that is no, and his goalscoring record shows that as he has scored 4 goals in 5 games in the league, picking up a 7.96 average rating with this. Lets not forget he has made the biggest jump from under-19's to the first team and he has handled the pressure so well, scoring a hattrick against Pacos de Ferreira to cap off his last few games. He really is one to watch.

VM: Whaddaya think, Neal?

NH: Vitor?

VM: Yeah?

NH: You do realise the game has kicked off right?

Vitor turns to face the pitch, Neal pours ice cold water down his back

VM: FOR FUCK SAKE NEAL

NH: Hahahahaha!

VM: Right, stop now. The games about to kick off.

Braga kick off.

1 minute in - NH: Here's De Gea with the goal kick for Man United. He's given it to Fabio. Sorry, Rafael. I always get those two mixed up lol. Bender, who, as we all know is in fact a bender, gives it to Rooney, not in that way either. Carrick to Bender, Januzaj on the wing here. The man of many countries, Rooney here, finds van Persie in the box! Costil saves! Januzaj on the rebouuuuuund!!!!!

VM: That was absolutely wank! HAHA!

NH: He's missed! That was shit!

21 minutes in - VM: Mata with the corner here. Sadio Mané heads away, it's fallen to the feet of Januzaj... Out wide to Mata once again. Cross intercepted by Mané who's hoofed it up towards the young Jorge Amorim. Tackled by the captain, Evra. Evans with control now. Carrick to Bender. van Persie in the Braga half here. Januzaj, van Persie, Adnan. Sprints down the line like a cheetah. On steroids. Played across the face of goal! Mata hits it straight at Costil!

NH: Half-Time at Old Trafford. Been terrible so far

VM: Completely agree, wouldn't surprise me if Braga parked the bus now.

49 minutes in... NH: Rafael throws it to Mata, crossed into Giggs! It's there! 1-0 Man United!

VM: Choking on water Goal! *cough* *cough* Why score then? Anyway, a good tactical sub by Hiddink then.

56 minutes in... VM: Evra takes a throw in. Giggs, back to Evra. Tries to switch but finds Mané's head. Vargas now for Braga. Tries a pass to Amorim but cut out by Dante, a strange Brazilian name. Carrick to Januzaj, takes a shot!

NH: OH MY GOD IT'S IN! WHAT A GOAL FROM THE ADNAN HIMSELF!

VM: WHAT A FINISH, TAKE A BOW SON!

64 minutes in... NH: Costil with the goal kick. Carrick heads away, Soares heads it straight to Giggs.. Mata tries to pass but just generally fails. Costil boots it out. Amorim gets there but it's straight to Evra. Giggs, to Januzaj... Januzaj hits it!!!

VM: ANOTHER FANTASTIC GOAL BY JANUZAJ AND IT'S 3-2 MAN UNITED ON AGGREGATE!!!

NH: OMFG HOW.

VM: Soares comes off injured, Ignjovski replaces him.

70 minutes in... NH: Mata with the free-kick into the box, finds Dante at the far post! GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL

VM: Man United can't fuck it up now, can they?

85 minutes in... VM: Ignjovski commits a foul. Free-kick, van Persie shoots, it's on target! Costil's spilled it! Mata!!!! GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL

NH: Fuck me, Braga have been given a new one! They're getting torn apart!
