Title Race Hots Up in England!

Finally then Manchester United's unbeaten Premiership run comes to an end, not against a top six side but against Wigan of all teams.

United started with a fantastic 3-1 F.A Cup victory in the 4th round Replay with Andros Townsend, Nicolas Castillo and Jordan Rhodes bagging the goals to set up a tie with Norwich.

United then relied on the ever impressive Steven Naismith to save them against Huddersfield. At half time they were 1-0 up but Rodgers threw on Castillo on the 70th minute to devestating effect. He he a screamer from 25 yards out but then on the 75th minute he won a penalty, where captain Steven Naismith powered it into the top right hand corner to make it 2-1 and keep United firing on all cylinders.

Candreva scores two against Cardiff

Then followed a demolition of Cardiff in 33 frantic minutes where United scored four times with Antonio Candreva and Castillo getting a goal each in the first 5 minutes. Candreva and Mirallas finished the game off quickly and although they scored 2 in the second half United were never in any trouble.

Man Utd then followed it up with a 2-0 victory against Norwich City and it also saw a first goal for the club for Chaker Alhadhur which allowed them to get through into the 6th round.

United then played Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League First knockout Round and it was billed as a very tight encounter between two very in form sides and that is how it proved as it was only a bit of brilliance by Neymar that got the goal. He picked the ball up on the 16 yard box with 3 players around him and he unleashed a fantastic curling effort which De Gea did not get near. United had Clyne sent off for 2 bookable offences too.

Neymar bagged the first leg's only goal in the Champions League

Steven Naismith stepped up to the plate again for United against Swansea by scoring yet another penalty taking him to 6 taken and 6 scored all season. Swansea were 2-1 up at half time but Naismith, who has been fantastic again this season bagged a second half brace after linking up with former Everton team-mate Kevin Mirallas to win the match for Manchester United.

Wigan's former Arsenal striker Park Chu Young ended United's Premier League unbeaten run
Then Wigan ended United's Premier League unbeaten run with a great goal from Park Chu Young.

So even with there defeat against Wigan, United stay top because Chelsea, in Mourinho's words FUCKED IT UP!. Liverpool, if they beat United in the game in hand have have would be just 3 points behind Chelsea. Arsenal and Man City, still manager-less are fighting over the last Champions League spot and a big shout out to Huddersfield and Wigan who are 8th and 10th respectively.

Rodgers Verdict

Well it is still in our hands and that is the main thing. I think all the hostility to me has been resolved because I have shown the fans that I can stick it out, the people who roughed up my Daughter have been arrested and the fans showed me they did not agree what what happened and I am determined to win the title for these fans and this team.

We are in the hunt still for three trophies and I mean three despite the unfortunate loss to Barcelona. I was very proud of them though because I took this young squad away to the Nou Camp, the home of a massive Spanish team and we should have drew because of the offside goal that never was offside by Sandro. But these things happen and me and the team will get revenge in the second leg.

This month coming up is probably the biggest I have ever faced as a manager.

We have Arsenal first but we play Man city at home twice this month. There are two chances to get revenge or the way I am looking at it, two victories to show them that they are the second best side in Manchester.
Damn, unlucky about the loss to Wigan. Can't believe Park Chu Young actually scored, and it ended your unbeaten run in the Premier League too!
Still some good results for you, hopefully you can go all the way and win the title :D

Upset you beat Leeds :( But a great update as always Jason :)

Pompey It is cool because Wigan have been awesome this season and we all have to lose sometimes. I was shocked that Park scored too lol. We will not let this slip!

Jack Meh Leeds are shit :) no thanks for the comment though

Thanks to everyone for there support on this story I am humbled at over 11000 views :)

AAN Thanks dude means a lot and we will hold on for the love of god!

United Repay The Favour!

In what was billed as a close encounter, Manchester United trounced rivals Manchester City by 5-0 where a brace from Steven Naismith helped United to this rampant victory.

We were excellent today and I hope the fans were just as pleased with this result as I was. We did not just win we pissed all over them! said Brendan Rodgers, we want to apoligise for the language too.

Striker Wilfried Bony, given a rare start for United got them off to a flyer by scoring a close range header from a Cleverley cross after just one minute. Cleverley himself doubled Man Utd's lead with a deftly executed finish on the 3oth minute.

Bony ended 17 hours without a goal today with his 1st minute strike

Naismith then scored a 30 yard screamer in the 48th minute to completely crush there opposition to extend the lead further. Winger Andros Townsend then added to the lead with a fine headed goal from another cross from Cleverley who was having his best game in a Red Devil shirt in the 64th minute.

Steven Naismith then netted his 25th goal of the season in the 88th minute from close range. This was a highly polished Manchester United performance where they progress into the semi-final draw.

Mirallas claimed Man Of The Match award

Kevin Mirallas was the best player on the park this afternoon during the 5-0 victory against Man City. Tom Cleverley was close to picking it up but Mirallas looked dangerous every time he received the ball and the Man Utd right winger's incisive running and eye for a pass led to three goals for his team and he worked so well with Tom Cleverley. When he ran at the defence they did not know what to do.

Kevin has made forty-one appearances so far for The Red Devils, scoring seventeen goals.

We played well as a team today and I do feel that Tom deserved this more than me but I will take it. We got our revenge today but we will get more at the end of the month when we play them again! said a happy Mirallas.
1
WOW, that's what I call revenge, still can't believe you got Cleverley to play well and Naismith is a beast.
1
Exceptional result mate, you most certainly got your revenge in that game!
Nice update too :)
A fantastic result which is deserved after your great season so far. You need to make the most of those two games in hand; if you do, surely you will cruise to the league title!
Pompey Awww thanks dude and yes, yes we did

James Yeah its a big time now for Brendan Rodgers :) I want hte title!

Despite being treated as slight underdogs for the match, Manchester United fans are preparing to welcome Barcelona fans traveling 1,382 kilometres from Barcelona in Spain to Manchester.

Sandro is deemed as a key man

Manchester United, who made the final of this competition last season have every chance of turning the tie around and are in some red hot form. They may feel they can overturn the 1-0 deficit at Old Trafford and it will depend on players like Steven Naismith, Kevin Mirallas and Sandro.

Naismith has been absolutely amazing this season and last season since moving to United for £4.4m. For United to have any hope of winning, all hopes will come down to the 28 year old Scotsman. Along with Steven, it is important for Kevin Mirallas to perform. He has been amazing this season and is also the reason why Naismith has 25 goals to his name.

If we are going to win, whoever the gaffer puts out need to put in the performance of there life. I have been very happy with the way I have played but look, it is a team game and I beleive that every player in this squad who has played this season have had a massive effect.

Three big players are out injured for Barcelona

Barcelona are riddled with injuries as Rooney, Fabregas and Daniel Alves are all out injured but captain Carles Puyol, one of the older members thinks his team have a tough match but enough to get through.

What there manager has done is incredible! It is not the most talented side but definitely has the most heart and the most work rate and ethic we have ever come across and they are awesome at home but we hope to keep Steven Naismith quiet and we will do our best to shackle Kevin and either Andriy or Andros.

Rodgers hits 100 games in charge of United this match

It is sure going to be a big match for Rodgers, for a even bigger milestone and that will be a celebration he hopes for his 100th game in charge at United.

With such a big game to prepare though, the landmark is the last thing on his mind right now.

I will not think about it, to me it is just one more big match for us and me. I really, really can not wait to get the game and this milestone over with though.

Brendan Rodgers' has won a runner up award in the Manager Of The Year.

This is sure to be a very, very close match and we can not call it either way.

Big thanks to Arsenal_rulez who did that graphic for me on very short notice! Big, Big thanks
