Preseason Recap
A long, long preseason was in store
Season eight has begun. And to get prepared for another season in the top flight we'd need to be match fit and confident before we even set foot out on to the pitch for the first game of the season. Instead of me rambling on with the same things I say every year let's just look at the results.
Preseason Results
Yet again we can look back on our season's preparation with positivity. We collected wins in nearly all of our games and we managed to score a lot of goals in the process. In only our second game Pedro Monteiro managed to bag five of our six goals which really looked promising.
We were invited to a four team friendly cup, our most notable opponents being
Sheffield Wednesday and
Atletico Rafaela of England and Argentina respectively. We progressed through a long and tough shootout against the Owls before facing Atletico Rafaela in the final and easily beating them 3-0.
A 2-2 stalemate at Italian outfit
Catania followed before we travelled to South Africa to play Patrick Kekana's former club
SuperSport United as part of the transfer arrangement. We easily won 6-0 and Kekana managed to score himself.
A big win at
Atalanta really lifted the confidence inside the changing room and another victory over an Italian side, this time
Genoa, also helped us as we rounded up preseason. The final game was at home to
Oliveirense and Sergio Liparoti, who scored his first ever Oriental goal here, gave us a 1-0 win.
Europa League Draw

We were drawn against Macedonian side
Shkendija (I think that's how you spell it). In all fairness we should be able to get into the group stages - let's just hope we can put all doubt to bed and progress.
Marítimo is our first league opponent of the season and we'll be hoping for a win to kick off our season!
