My fault for parking the bus...or trying to. But...CHAMPIONES CHAMPIONES OLE OLE OLE!!!

#19: Freund & Xavi Shot On La Liga Champions Parade | 17 May 2015

I can't really put into words what has happened tonight. I am writing this from the waiting room at Barcelona General Hospital, where my assistant manager Steffen Freund and legendary midfielder Xavi lie battling for their lives.
I remember the elation, the ecstasy and emotion of parading our league title through the streets of Barcelona - sharing our recent triumph with the loyal supporters. We were waving, the fans were singing my name, and then gradually making their way through the whole team with a song or chant about each and every player that had contributed to this success. It was beautiful.
We had been aboard the bus for perhaps an hour, it was getting dark and the atmosphere was continuing to grow. Thousands upon thousands of people crowding the streets to get a glimpse of this magnificent team. When it all went wrong. Let me just say, I haven't stopped sobbing for hours, I can't stop. My heart is wrenching, it physically hurts to be alive at this moment in time. It seems when their is such joy, their must be a disgrace, and that is what happened.
Over a megaphone, growing louder and louder, was the distinctive chant "HALA MADRID!" - this was wrong. The Real Madrid fans should have left us and respected us as we would for them had they won the title. But no, we could see fans fighting, Barca and Madrid, everything turning sour.
That was when Steffen took the microphone on the bus from me, I had been saying a few words of appreciation to the fans for not only accepting me as their manager but thanking them for their incredible support. Steffen stood at the front of the open top bus, trophy in hand.
"Please, we beg you to stop fighting. May we celebrate in peace and alone, let us enjoy our moment. Real Madrid fans should not..."
That's where he finished. He finished because a Madrid fan in the rabble had opened fire. Steffen lay on the ground - blood soaking his club tracksuit, he was motionless. The players ran down their stairs to what they thought was cover, most of us made it, but another gunshot sounded and this time it was Xavi who had been hit. He was grabbing players heroically and throwing them to safety, organising in such a heated moment, that summed him up. He stayed upstairs just a second too long - he was badly hurt. I looked out of the window screaming words I cannot even remember, there was a Barcelona fan who had come out to enjoy the day, being guided away by friends after seemingly taking a royal beating from a Madrid fan. This was the most disgusting thing I had ever seen in life, not just football.

Things seemed to calm down, a mass police presence and paramedics calmed the scene, even the fire brigade arrived to spray water on the violent fans and help disperse the crowds.
Now, I am sat here, in the waiting room, praying for good news. I feel sick to my stomach, my mind racing. The players are sat across in the waiting room, all of them crying or consoling one another. This just wasn't right.
"Mr Mourinho?" I looked up to see a doctor wearing a long white coat, a grim look upon his face.
"I am so sorry, he hasn't made it. He could not fight his injuries..."
My players started to cry vociferously.
"Please no," I howled.
I regained my composure.
"Steffen, was it Steffen or Xavi?"
Not Xavi! Please not Xavi! What dicks those Madrid 'fans' where! Such a fantastic update, wow!
