Groupstage draw

The draw for the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League has been drawn and at first look all groups seem to be fairly evenly matched with at least 3 teams from each group looking like theyll be able to reach the next round. Group G looks to be the strongest group of the lot with Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Zenit St Petersburg and Espanyol all looking like they have the squads capable of challenging the big boys of the competition.

Group D is where we find last seasons suprise packet Anderlecht, they have been drawn against current UEFA Champions League holder Bayern Munich, PSV and Red Bull Salzburg which is looking like a very interesting group, Bayern look certain to qualify with the other 3 teams vying for second place
whos your tip for the UEFA Champions League Title?
who will win the Golden Boot?
Pretty easy group apart from Bayern, I think you'll be able to finish fourth in that group
You have a pretty tough group, where any team can make a big surprise! Bayern is clearly the favorite!

David Villa hasnt had the best start to his Anderlecht career and is currently without a goal in his first 5 appearances for the club, this equals 450 minutes of football without a goal.
though David is a world class striker surely he'll have to start scoring soon or he could find his place in the starting lineup under increasing pressure, and Neal Maupay is waiting in the wings if David does get dropped

Fabio Cannavaro did have this to say about David and the situation ahead of him

"David is such a good player, he means so much to our team, and so on a personal level it will be great for him to break his duck but the reality is that anyone who ever questions David or anyone who doesn't see what he brings to our team doesn't understand football,” Fabio said. “I’l tell you guys that right now. This guy does so much despite his age and he’s given all the teams hes played in the past some very big games so you can’t help but laugh when now he goes through a few games, and he doesn’t get a goal or two, and people start to look and want to throw all the rest out the window.
“Trust me, as a former player i know we cant always have great games but believe in the big games, this is a guy you want on your team every single time.”

As for the notion that David's lack of goals had shaken the team’s confidence in him, Fabio shot that notion as well.

“The confidence in him as always been there, regardless of whether he scores or doesn’t score.”
He will be fine, he is just suffering from an MLS infection.
Hopefully he can end the drought
I think you can end on the second place in Champions League group! David will recover!

Anderlecht announce plans to further expand Constant Vanden Stock

Roger Vanden Stock has today announced that Anderlecht will undergo another stadium expansion which will take the capacity from 31,254 to 36,167 which will commence at the end of the current season and will only take 3 months to complete which means the new look stadium will be ready to go in time for the 2016/17.

Roger Vanden Stock had this to say to the press this morning regarding the news. " As part of our proposed stadium redevelopment project, we have unveiled the detail of our ambitious plans for an expanded Main Stand and Vanden Stock Road stand and are embarking on a consultation process which will shape and inform our planning application.
"We started this journey just over 18 months ago and a lot of work has already been done, there is still an incredible amount to do, but good progress has been made so far and we are proud to be able to unveil our plans."

"this shows the leaps and bounds this club has made in recent years as we look to improve the look and size of the stadium as we plan to become a bigger force on the European stage, Anderlchet football club will continue to give Fabio Cannavaro all the resources he needs to succeed
Who has the biggest stadium in the country?
Griffo before the expansions Standard Lieges stadium was the biggest with a capacity at 30,023, but we have now overtaken that with our new 36,000 seated stadium,

the biggest stadium in Belgium though is King Baudouin stadium with a capacity of 50,024 but is only used for the National team
nice increase but why is there a F1 car on your pitch, surely it'll ruin the turf for you :P:
F1 car on the field? XD Nice to see your developing further, not just on the football field. Pleasing stuff!
Walkinshaw and Pokarioboy I just thought it would provide a good talking point and it seemed to have worked :)

thanks for noticing

September

the fixture list was very kind to us in the month of September with only two matches scheduled, we started off with a 6-1 win over newly promoted Mouscron with Mitrovic and Kouyate both getting a brace, Denswil and Kljestan both scoring there first goals for the club aswell. The only downside to the match is the fact that we conceded, next up was our main title challengers in Standard Liege and we ran out 2-0 winners thanks to Mitrovic and Matias Suarez, Suarez scored a delicious lob in the 62nd minutes to finish off the match

so we sit 3rd at the end of September but with 2 matches in hand we could move top and pull 4 points clear if results go our way. this has definitely been a much stronger start then weve seen in previous years from Anderlecht, lets hope it continues

6th Round

we took on Cercle Brugge in the sixth round of the Cofidis cup and had next to no trouble in dispatching our Belgacom league leaders 4-1. Tielemans and Mitrovic putting Anderlecht up 2-0 very early, Mitrovic then made it 3-0 before halftime, Dennis Praet wrapped it all up in the first minute of the second but Cercle Brugge did get a goal late on but it was nothing more than a consolation

7th Round Draw

our draw for the next round has been very kind as weve been drawn against 3rd division side Hoogstraten, we will definitly be looking to qualify and this opponent shouldnt prove much of a resistance in us doing so

weve seen a decent start so far in our Champions League campaign, it kicked off with an expected loss against Bayern Munich though we did have our chances to score more goals than we did, Bayern were just to strong and always looked in control, Red Bull Salburg were next in a match we wanted to win so it didnt see us drop further behind in the group and my players responded with a 2-1 win with David Villa scoring his first goal in over 15 hours of football allbeit from the penalty spot.

Group D table

so after 2 matches we currently sit in second place behind Bayern Munich, with a double header against PSV coming up i believe 4 points will be a positive outcome and should really see us through to the next round
In a good position in all competitions, good stuff!
