Great stuff!

7th Round

Hoogstraten were our next opponents in the Cofidis Cup and with odds at $12.00 they werent expected to provide much of a challenge but of course odds dont win matches and Hoogstraten made our team work for the victory

The first 20 minutes saw Anderlecht dominate play with slow possession based football in a bid to get control of the match and not let the minnows have a sniff at a chance and after half an hour Anderlecht would take the lead after former club captain Olivier Deschacht headed home from a Nabil Jaadi corner, soon after though Anderlecht were reduced to 10 men when Gillet was shown two yellow cards in a space of two minutes leave the Belgian champions work to do despite being up.

As the second half kicked off Hoogstraten took the initiative and fired off a warning shot at Jasper Cillessen just to let him know they are still in with a shout and in the 63rd minute Hoogstraten would equalize when Glenn Claes capitalised on mis-communication in the Anderlecht defence to put the ball into the empty net as Kouyate tried a header back to the keeper which left Cillessen in no mans land, But just as the away fans thought an upset was on David Villa latched onto a deep free kick from Abrashi to volley home an unstoppable effort which left Davy Roef rooted to the spot wondering what just happened.
Anderlecht would hold onto the win and book themselves a place in the next round

Quarter Final Draw

Anderlecht have drawn Standard Liege in the next round of the Cofidis cup which is surely going to be a fiery encounter with no love lost between players and managers over past matches. Anderlecht will go into the match as slight favourites because of Lieges poor league form this season, in the other matches Club Brugge face second division side Tubize and Lokeren play Westerlo. weve already had one match played this round with AA Gent and OH Leuven playing out a 1-1 draw in the first leg
Big game against Standard there, the winner of that tie will surely win the cup :)
Huge game! I agree with Niko, whoever wins should be favorites to go on and triumph! I think that will be you!

Anderlecht welcomed Red Bull Salzburg to Vanden Stock for Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League knowing a draw would secure their place in the UEFA Europa League.
The first 45 minutes proved to be a war as Anderlecht were playing on the border of the rules giving away foul after foul in order to stop Salzburg playing the slow tempo game, though not easy on the eye the tactic seemed to work Salzburg did not muster a single shot in the first half, Anderlecht only managed the two shots which hardly troubled the keeper, it was a boring first half to say the least

Onto the second half as Anderlecht came out firing and nearly took the lead as Matias Suarez had a crack from distance which whistled against the crossbar, it proved to rattle Salzburg. Anderlecht then made a change bringing on Aleksander Mitrovic after his month layoff and that man gave Anderlecht the lead 5 minutes later with a real poachers after a scramble in the box the ball rolled straight out to Mitrovic who blasted the ball home from now more than 5 yards out.
Anderlecht smelt blood and went for it sending players forward trying to find that second goal which would wrap it all up and on 77 minutes that goal would come after a sublime touch from David Villa controlling the long ball sent from Youri Tielemans which defied his age left him with acres of space just one on one with the goalkeeper and he made no mistake at all lifting the ball over the keeper and into the empty net, 2-0!!!
the fans knew there team had won it which would see them into the draw for the UEFA Europa League

this win put us in 3rd place in Group D which has seen us enter the Europa League, Red Bull Salzburg exit Europe for another season
Hoogstraten ran you close there mate!nwell done on sneaking into the Europa League, winnable competition for your boys!
great work, hopefully you can do better in the Europa league!
I'm telling you, Europa will be great for the club!
You have a very strong squad mate, I am sure that you can do well in Europa League!

Anderlecht draw English giants Liverpool

The round of 32 draw for the UEFA Europa League has been revealed and Belgian champions Anderlecht will face English powerhouse Liverpool in a match that promises attacking footbsll. Fabio Cannavaro and Brendan Rodgers are both advocates of total football and will no doubt be telling their troops to go on the attack to give themselves the best chance of pregoression

unlike Anderlecht, Liverpool do have history in Europe claiming 11 titles dating back to 1973,
titles include
- European Cup/UEFA Champions League - 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 2005
- UEFA Cup - 1973, 1976, 2001
- UEFA Super Cup - 1977, 2001, 2005

Liverpool progress sealed progression to the knockout stage after a very convincing groupstage that seen them top their group which contained Bordeaux, Jablonec and Club Brugge, Liverpool finished with 15 points, Luis Saurez leading the way with 3 goals from the 6 macthes

Europa League Round of 32 knockout round draw

weve seen some pretty juicy matchups in this draw with at least 5 of the sides left capable of challenging for the UEFA Champions League, Ajax and AC Milan will battle it out in the clash of the fallen giants, Manchester United face Fiorentina whilst Borussia Dortmund will play Dnipro of Ukraine. heres a full look at the draw

whos your tip for the title, correct answer will get a story shoutout, VOTE NOW!
very very very unlucky! hope you'll do well against them!
I really hope you destroy Liverpool!

December

December started in the worst possible way with a loss to third from last Heist, the football on show from us was appalling to say the least with schoolboy error defending and misfiring strikers it truly was a miserable day at the office. Our next three matches resulted in 3 wins and 11 goals scored, David Villa was in redhot form scoring 6 of them, we finished the month with a bore draw against Mouscron which showed neither Anderlechts title credentials nor Mouscrons ability to survive the drop

After a fairly solid month we still sit atop the Jupiler League by two points over Standard Liege. with 9 matches left til the table splits into three, we look pretty comfortable and really should win it from this position
Solid month, keep building!

Joel Campbell signs for Metalist Kharkiv

Metalist Kharkiv are pleased to announce to signing of Joel Campbell for $9,000,000, Joel seemed surplus to requirements at Vanden Stock leaving Metalist the chance to snap up the young Costa Rican

Joel Campbell leaves Anderlecht without having made any real impact on the club, most fans were happy to see the back of Joel aswell with his noted lack of workrate not helping the situation.
in his two seasons at the club Joel Campbell only managed to score 4 goals on 35 appearances and for an attacking midfielder that really wasnt enough
