Good result, and the next round shouldn't be to hard against Lokeren. Good luck nonetheless!

Matchday 2

VS

Anderlecht fans piled into Stade Constant Vanden Stock to see their club play English powerhouse Chelsea in matchday 2 of the Champions League, Chelsea were heavy favourites going into the match with odds @ $1.40 for them to beat the Belgian club with Anderlecht at a measly $6.20 to snatch a win

it all started pretty slow in the first half with neither team really able to assert there authority on the match with some scrappy play going on in the middle of the park. Anderlecht then slowly started to take control with 60% possession but without firing a single shot at petr Cech and Chelsea would make them pay for not taking there chances through Diego Costa as he played a beautiful one-two with Eden Hazard as he was slipped in behind the Anderlecht defence to put Chelsea ahead in the 25th minute.

Chelsea then took total control of the match having shot after shot at Silvio Protos goal to no avail as Anderlecht struggled to stop Eden Hazard and Oscar. as it went into extra time Cheickhou Kouyate deemed to have push Gary Cahill to the ground after a tussle in the box from a Chelsea corner and the referee pointed to the spot to the disbelief of the home fans as they booed and jeered at referee. Eden Hazard capped of a wonderful display by dispatching the penalty into the bottom right corner to send [Chelsea home with 3 points

Matchday 3

Anderlecht arrived at the freezing Arena Khimki knowing a win would put them in the box seat to finish second place in group D and progress to the knockout round, but CSKA Moscow are anything but easy to beat in Russia and would pose a difficult test for Fabio Cannavaros men

CSKA Moscow started the match with a high tempo of football which unsettled Anderlecht who may well have been still getting to grips with the freezing wind blowing through the Arena Khimki, CSKA did take the lead in the 13th minute through a Vitinho goal as he turned Kouyate and fired the ball bast the onlooking Proto, but Anderlecht responded and took control of the match creating a few chances but nothing to really worry Igor Akinfeev. Neal Maupay then silenced the home fans when he latched onto a long ball from N'Sakala to tuck the ball under the goalkeeper to bring the match to 1-1.

into the second half where Anderlecht completely dominated the match and could have scored 4 or 5 more but that goal wouldnt come until the 72nd minute when that man again Neal Maupay hit an unstoppable shot past Akinfeev as he stood motionless as the ball flew past him and into the goal. the score stayed that way until the end leaving Anderlecht on the brink of qualification

Groupstage

with two matches played this month the group is really starting to take shape as Chelsea are only a draw away from guaranteeing qualification while Anderlecht are only a win from ensuring the same feat. if Anderlecht do qualify this will be a great achievement for a club who was tipped to struggle in this years competition
Chelsea's clear favorite group! You can get the 2nd, congratulations CSKA victory !
Unlucky with the Chelsea result but congrats on the CSKA result! Keep up this momentum and you may surprise a few people ;)
Get around Maupay!
Great result away against CSKA, and nice to see you comfortably in 2nd in your group!

November

November was a mixed month in terms of results with a record of 2-1-1, we got off to a flying start with two wins on the bounce than once again decided to undo all the good work bt ending the month poorly wit ha loss and draw with our 8 match unbeaten run coming to an end. we really need to start showing alot more consistency by beating the teams around us in the table, doing so will push us closer to the top of the ladder where we belong

despite a fairly inconsistent month we still manage to sit 6th and only 5 points off top spot, a good sequence of results next month could well and truly see us move up toward the top of the ladder. while our defence isnt to bad so far this season its our attack thats constantly letting us down especially against the smaller sides in which our top players tend to go AWOL. this needs to be sorted sooner rather than later if we are to take advantage
What is your current job status?
@Griffo my job status is still very secure do to my Champions League form thus far
not the ebst season so far..you need to improve mate!
You can improve, I think. And you're only 5 points away from the top!

Matchday 4

there was a sea of purple as you walked into the Stade Constant Vanden Stock as Anderlecht played CSKA Moscow knowing if they avoided defeat it was all but guarantee there progression to the next round, on the other hand a loss for CSKA would end there season in the Champions League[/center]
things couldnt have got off to a worse start for the homeside though as CSKA took the initiative and obviously looked in a hurry to score and the travelling fans didnt have to wait long as CSKA's hitman Seydou Doumbia was bought down in the box by Olivier Deschahcht, Alen Dzagoev stepped up and made no mistake blasting the ball to the keepers left and right into the corner sending the away fans wild. CSKA continued to dominate until halftime and could have been further ahead

into the second half as Anderlecht still struggled to get there foot into the game as they were made to play on the counter, CSKA continued to dominate and the stregnth of Doumbia was causing the defence all kinds off problems but with time running out and Anderlecht fans starting to worry if theyve thrown all that good work away Francis N'Sakala equalised for the home side after a scramble i nthe box the ball rolled out beautifully for N'Sakala who buried it,
the noise from the home side went absolutely mental as they knew there club was on the brink of there first Champions League knockout round in years

Matchday 5

Maccabi Haifa walked into this match with next to no confidence as there Champions League campaigh had been a disappointment seeing them knocked out in the previous matchday, Anderlecht on the other hand were on the brink and full of confidence

Anderlecht took the lead after only 58 seconds as Neal Maupay was found in acres of space and the young frenchmen made no mistake tucking the ball away in the bottom left corner, Olivier Deschacht doubled the home sides lead in the 36th minute with a fine header from a Tielemens corner. Igor Cheminava did pull one back on the stroke of halftime but just as the ref was about to blow the whistle for halftime that man Maupay popped up again this time with a well placed header the flew past the Maccabi goalkeeper. the teams went in a 3-1 at the break and that would prove to be the final score

would that prove to be enough for Anderlecht to progress?

Anderlecht have done it!! progression to the next round with a match against Chelsea still to come, this is a massive effort from the Belgian giants as they were tipped to struggle alongside Maccabi Haifa but the have proved again that Belgian football is on the rise and they will be no pushover
Congrats for the qualification!
Nice job on finishing 2nd in that group!
Congrats for the qualification! Good luck !
