TaT Yes it is, I should be able to bring someone in now hopefullt :D
Shame that you lost some money, but at least now you have some cap space and hopefully it allows for another key signing or two! :)
Jason Yeah, it was a bit of a loss but I didn't buy him myself so the 100k was actually a nice deal for me haha.

Sydney FC Pre-Season Fixtures Announced

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zpsb29eb328.png.html

Sydney FC have released the fixture list for their 2016/17 pre-season, organising 6 friendlies before the first A-League match of the season against the Newcastle Jets.

Over the course of 6 weeks, the Sky Blues will travel to the capital, Canberra before making brief trips to Adelaide and Wollongong to finish in Sydney. Their ease-in first game will be against the Australian National University, before travelling to play Campbelltown City and Port Kembla on the following 2 weekends. From there they begin the run-in to the season proper with 3 games in Sydney; Bonnyrigg White Eagles, Nepean FC and Sydney Olympic FC.
No A-League opposition? Risky.
Mvan I always prefer to play smaller sides, keeps the morale up

Sydney FC Land Usai

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps6df7d73f.png.html

After a disappointing defensive record in the 2015/16 season, Sydney FC have bolstered their goalkeeper stocks with the signing of 26 year old Sebastian Usai. The journeyman has signed for multiple clubs but has announced his intentions to stay with the Sky Blues for the long haul.

A graduate of the Queensland Academy of Sport, Usai spent his early years playing the Queensland State League before getting a brief stint in the A-League for the now defunct North Queensland Fury. From there he signed for Blackburn, before moving to Sweden and finally getting his break with Scottish Championship club Cowdenbeath. After being sold to Serie C1/C club Avellino, opportunities dried up and after being released he has signed for Sydney FC.

Usai will compete with Vedran Janjetovic for the mantle of No.1 keeper, but at this stage it is unknown who will get the nod. Over the pre-season, Usai will be looking to impress the gaffer and replace Janjetovic between the sticks.

Brendan Dragas today made a shock move to Sydney FC after it was revealed that the transfer had been in the pipeline for several months. The 18 year old centre back, slated as the next Lucas Neill, has been purchased for £3,210 from Blacktown City FC.

Dragas was already dominating the state leagues at the age of 16, and was beginning to garner the interests of Ajax and PSV Eindhoven. However Sydney FC acted fast, and the lure of home persuaded Dragas to sign for the Sky Blues on a 2 year contract.

Brendan Dragas is already one of the country's best tacklers, and possessing incredible physical ability at such a young age. Such is his proficiency that sources inside the club have suggested he may have a role in the first team this season.

This is not the only time Sean-Paul Lodovico has snuck a European-grade wonderkid into his squad. Earlier in his career he signed the obscure right back Zoran Chote from New Zealand, and the world quickly took notice. The youngster lasted just 1 season at the Jets before being sold to Schalke 04 for £600,000- a 1100% profit. Lodovico will be hoping Dragas can fetch a similair price.

Dragas will have a chance to prove his hype when the pre-season commences in late August.

Youth Intake At Sydney

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps8689b8cd.png.html

Today 16 bright young faces were given their chance to shine at the annual Youth Intake. 15 New South Welshmen and a young Western Australian have been admitted into the youth setup at Sydney FC, with manager Sean-Paul Lodovico taking the time out to speak about a couple of potential stars.

"I really feel that Peter Frame could be something special, he's a great defensive player, local boy as well, and I'll be keeping a close eye on him. I'd say Liam Oikonomidis is a pretty good prospect as well, in fact he's a ready made player up front. James Kleinhans and Nick Taylor would be the other 2 I'd recommend, but all in all it's a great intake. Get ready to see some more of these players in the coming years."

The youth candidates will play the current youth team on Sunday afternoon.

Pre-Season Wrap-Up

It's tantalisingly close to the beginning of the new season, and I feel like we have had a brilliant pre-season to propel us. Here's a full recap of the pre-season results.

Results

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zpsfc6c4420.png.html

We began our 6 week run with a short trip to Canberra, to play off against the Australian National University. An own goal early on coupled with a Dimitrijevic goal meant we jumped out to an early lead, and Seb Ryall sealed the deal with an unlikely brace, giving us a 4-0 win.

Next we travelled to Adelaide to face Campbelltown City. They stunned us with an early goal but the magic of Heskey kicked in. By the 61st minute he had single handedly hauled us in front and an unlikely goalscorer in Bruce Mailer gave us a 3-1 win.

The last of our non-Sydney matches was in the coastal town of Wollongong, where we would play Port Kembla. The gulf in class wasn't obvious after the first half, where we held a 1-0 lead thanks to Heskey. However, after half time the floodgates opened as Heskey doubled the advantage after just 3 minutes. Next was new signing Ander Bergara, followed by an own goal and then a penalty, slotted by Heskey to give him his hat trick. A resounding 5-0 win from the lads.

We got more than we bargained for against Bonnyrigg White Eagles, thanks to a thrilling 2 goal comeback. Nikola Petkovic scored from the kick off and Bergara doubled the advantage just 11 minutes later. I believed we had it in the bag, but 2 second half goals from the Eagles meant we eventually drew 2-2 in a disappointing display.

Nepean FC was next, and we quickly showed our dominance with 4 goals in the first 22 minutes. Bergara and Irvine both scored whilst Heskey hit 2 as we burst out of the blocks. The second half was a bore, but we got a dominant 4-0 win in the end.

Our last game was a chance for me to rest my first XI, and instead I sent my youth team out. We got an early lead but eventually succumbed to Sydney Olympic FC, losing 3-1.

Player Of The Pre-Season

Emile Heskey was a goalscoring machine in the pre-season, netting 7 goals in 5 games to perhaps show a glimpse of things to come. I felt Ander Bergara was very, very impressive as was Sebastian Usai in goals.

So now the pre-season is over, a very successful pre-season at that. Some promising results coupled with a new look squad means we're ready to go for season 2016/17!
Emile Heskey.... goal scoring machine?!?!?

Nothing new there B)
