One of Australia's brightest prospects has left for Europe in Brendan Dragas. The 19 year old centre back has been sold by Sydney FC for £1.5 million to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

Dragas has been touted as the next Lucas Neill, and after a disappointing first season at Sydney FC he decided to put himself on the market. Bids of £1.5 million were accepted from Internazionale and Leverkusen but Dragas chose the latter. The youngster will surely develop in his new environment and Socceroos fans will be relishing in this news.

The sale also benefits Sydney FC, who have been going through some financial hardships of late. The colossal £1.5 million fee should alleviate it a bit, and also sees them make a huge profit on Dragas after purchasing him for just £3,210 last season. The dual sale of Dragas and Frame sees the Sky Blues pocket a handy £2,375,000 and with potential superstar Daniel Batty joining the club they will be optimistic for even more money.

Dragas will meet up with his new teammates (including fellow Aussie Robbie Kruse) shortly.
Sad to see a hot prospect leave, but good money for him. Hopefully he turns out a bit better than just a Lucas Neill!
I bet you shed a tear when Heskey retired didn't you haha great updates and im gonna miss this story
Xander Hopefully :)

Jason Yes, I did :'(
can't replace a character like Heskey
Great profit on that dodgy looking character, after only a season as well! Great business but a shame to lose good young player.
Ziechael His determination was a bit low, I'll just hope he doesn't develop too much or I'll be ruing this decision!
tomtheone You can't :(
Tough to lose such a good player, but at least you made a very healthy profit! :)
Neal Yeah, it was very good indeed :)

Brand New Leadership Team At Sydney

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zpsaba164d4.png.html

With the retirement of Emile Heskey and Sasa Ognenovski, the previous leadership team, Sydney FC have today announced the new team. Milos Dimitrijevic will take the captain's armband, whilst Rhyan Grant will be the vice captain after filling in as captain for most of last season.

Dimitrijevic is a fan favourite at Allianz, and the 33 year old Serb is also a popular choice among his peers. The central midfielder has been an on-field leader for his 4 seasons at Sydney and should slot seamlessly into the captain's role.

Meanwhile Rhyan Grant is coming off a breakout season and as one of the hardest working players in the league he is a great choice as vice captain. The 26 year old is a great role model for the younger players and has the experience after taking the armband for the latter half of last season.

The pair have been a popular choice among both fans and players, and Sydney FC will hope these 2 can lead them to glory once more.
Nice choice hopefully their influence and determination proves a catalyst for a more improved team morale!
A new regime could be the difference between coming first or second overall, i just hope you didn't piss anyone else off with this decision, there are some very touchy players out there!
Walter Thanks man :D

Ziechael No negative reactions luckily, as both the captain and vice captain retired so I wasn't replacing anyone.
