Sky Blues Triumph After Late Scare

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zpsa0a0231d.png.html

Celebrations carried on long into the night in Sydney after Sydney FC defeated arch rivals Melbourne Victory 3-2 to make the Grand Final. Manager Sean-Paul Lodovico was on the brink of tears as the failure-plagued coach will finally have another shot at the championship after 4 years.

The Sky Blues got off to a dream start, when Josh MacDonald dribbled past the keeper and slotted home a second minute goal. Victory couldn't capitalise on chances and Sydney held a 1-0 lead going into the break.

A moment of indecision from Anthony Duzel saw a costly turnover in the box, resulting in an easy goal for Ander Bergara. Just 2 minutes later, Bergara's free kick found MacDonald who doubled his tally and gave Sydney FC an unassaible 3-0 lead.

But Victory didn't give up. After Matthew Jurman was double booked and Sydney reduced to 10 men, they created multiple opportunities but lacked the finish. The breakthrough finally came with Anthony Durand and when Christopher Cristaldo made it 3-2, the Sky Blue defence locked down. With Petkovic and Grant pulled back to make a 5 man defence, Sydney hung on to record a momentous victory.

For the most part of the night, Sydney dominated proceedings and even with 10 men they managed to retain possession. The 2 late goals scared but didn't unsettle the Sky Blues, and the final score of 3-2 was perhaps a tad lucky to the Victory. A dominant victory for Sydney FC, this will see them have a chance at their 4th A-League Championship. They will play Wellington Phoenix in the final.
Great result mate, best of luck in the grand final!
Ziechael Thankyou Ziech :)

A-League Grand Final Official Preview

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps9c3f2a85.png.html

The pinnacle of football in Australia, the Hyundai A-League Grand Final, will take place on Saturday between league winners Sydney FC and the pride of New Zealand, Wellington Phoenix. The trans-Tasman clash will be contested at Allianz Stadium in front of a sell out crowd and both teams are determined to give their fans some silverware.

Sydney FC narrowly won the regular season, and the Sky Blues will be looking to add to their 3 Grand Final wins. Meanwhile Wellington are no strangers to success recently, having won 2 A-League titles and contesting in an unsuccessful Grand Final in the past 3 years.

Playing a familiar 3-5-2, Sydney FC will line up without injured stars Matthew Jurman and Daniel De Silva, which is a huge blow. Meanwhile the Phoenix have a very strong line up, including the brilliant striker pairing of Tom Campbell and David Browne. The Sydney FC defensive trio of Ryall, Ognenovski and Batten will have a tough time dealing with these 2, whilst the Phoenix also have to be wary of rampaging wing backs Nikola Petkovic and Rhyan Grant.

The match will be refereed by Rick Queffelec, with the Canadian becoming the first non-Aussie to umpire the A-League Grand Final. It is expected to be a mild autumn day, with an expected temperature of 19 degrees to be enjoyed by the sell out crowd.

These 2 teams are fairly evenly matched, although Sydney FC have the depth and class having shown it during the league season. After a fairly dominant display in the semi final, I think Sydney FC will win this one. Predicted score 2-0.
Don't screw up :*

ALLIANZ STADIUM, 29.IV.2017
A-LEAGUE GRAND FINAL

I'm not much of a coach. Heck, I'd rather go into physiotherapy than try my hand at teaching the game. I'm a born and bred rugby league player, but I've always been able to analyse the play in pretty much every sport. That's how I came to be a football manager. That's how I came to be here today.

Welcome one and all, my name is David Basheer and this is the A-League Grand Final, live and exclusive...

There it is, sitting on the pedestal, flanked by a couple of A-League officials. The toilet seat, the A-League Championship trophy. My arms lock with the captain, Emile, as the Australian anthem blares. My team, my squad, looks forward with intent, with purpose. We have come here to win. The double shall be ours.

And there's kickoff, MacDonald rolls it to Chianese and we're underway....

The first few minutes are tense, nervy. Neither team wants to concede.

Fenton with the throw-in for the Kiwis, Campbell collects. Back to Fenton, it's a nice cross but Irvine's there. Butler gets the loose ball, Phoenix are back on now, good ball to Fenton sprinting into the box he's a machine the young lad, rolls it in to Henderson....

It was a beautifully struck shot, and Usai had no chance. Wellington had drawn first blood and there was nothing I could do about it.

Bergara had a 'sure' goal just 8 minutes later, but it was extremely narrow. Not sure what all the fuss was about, we need a far better chance. Half time came quickly and the boys were physically and mentally exhausted. I could do nothing but try to spur them on, but it would be a hard task.

Half time and I've got to say the Kiwis are looking very potent at the moment, Sydney FC need to lift their game....

Substitutes came and went. Chances were stifled, opportunities missed. Nothing we did could break the deadlock. We were psychologically beaten, and I do not have the power to cure that.

Wellington are passing it around the box again, Henderson is free and CRAIG HENDERSON SCORES AGAIN! The game is almost out of doubt, Craig Henderson with another great strike from 13 yards. 2-0 Wellington.....

Coulter restarts with the goal kick. It's heading towards the penalty box, Sydney will have to be wary of Wellington's pace here, speaking of which it's Ridenton, RIDENTON!!! Rubbing salt in the wounds, it's a 3-0 lead to Wellington now but truth be told the game was over in the first 15 minutes.
