Newcastle United splash out $27m on Neal Maupay and Layvin Kurzawa as David Ginola wastes no time bringing in new faces

Newcastle have splashed out $27 million on Neal Maupay and Layvin Kurzawa in a statement of their intent to challenge for the title this season in the Premier League.
United will complete the $12.5m transfer of French youth Striker Maupay on Friday just 24 hours after wrapping up the $14.5m purchase of Monaco left back Kurzawa.

Chairman Mike Ashley has signalled the near $28m outlay in a bid to wrap up the signings quickly and avoid a repeat of last summer's transfer sagas and does not intend to stop there, with at least two more signings in the pipeline.

Maupay scored 16 goals in 29 appearances last season at Nice

Although Nice were chasing a massive $29m for 17-year-old maupay, United have struck a deal for 12.75m due to the player being desperate to leave and he will undergo his medical at Benton today before signing a five year deal.
Stylish left Back Kurzawa officially completed his move yesterday despite a late attempt from Monaco to say they had rejected United's offer.

Kurzawa played a key part in Monaco's push for Ligue 1 last season

Kurzawa met with David Ginola and declared: 'It is a dream come true. I have never played at St James Park, but all ive heard is how passionate these fans can be.
'Having arrived on Tuesday I'm excited to now be living in Newcastle and I can't wait for my first game in United's famous black and white shirt.'

Monaco, meanwhile, are considering a cheeky approach for Arsenal left back as Kieran Gibbs replacement.

Gamba Osaka, Newcastle United announce partnership as J-League, Premier League clubs link up

On Friday morning it was announced that Premier League side Newcastle United and J-League outfit Gamba have become ‘football partners’ and are now linked as both aim to grow their brand globally.
The Toon Army and the Black and Red together as one.

According to a statement on Newcastle United's website, the partnership “will see Newcastle United FC and Gamba share coaching and business expertise, alongside promoting each other in their respective markets.”

The release on Newcastle's website states the following, as both teams will give one another a helping hand:

"Through the global reach of the Barclays Premier League, Newcastle United will help to promote the Gamba brand in over 200 countries. A cumulative audience of a phenomenal 4.7 billion makes the Barclays Premier League the most watched sporting league in the world and provides a perfect platform for Gamba Osaka to engage with a worldwide audience.

Gamba in turn will work closely with Newcastle United FC to help the club increase its presence across the vast Asian continent. The two clubs will also work together on joint initiatives in both the UK and Japan, with the Premier League outfit supporting Gamba as they look to maximize the use of their proposed new stadium from a football and business perspective".
Nice update, and a good club to link with!
Do you have the Japanese leagues loaded?
Griffo - ueah I downloaded the japanese leagues and and loaded them up
Nice choice to link up with - good chance to develop players.

David Ginola reveals Newcastle's target for the upcoming season

http://i4.chroniclelive.co.uk/incoming/article1353564.ece/alternates/s615/david-ginola-752906655.jpg

Newcastle United manager David Ginola has revealed his side’s target for the upcoming Premier League season. The French manager wants his team to aim for fourth as their minimum expectation for the season.

Last season, Newcastle United werent far from their first ever Premier League title with the side left to rue those dropped points against the so called 'smaller' sides. Ginolas’ aim for next season seems reasonable, given the strength in depth and resources of Newcastle’s rivals.

Ginola stated:“We’re still a work in progress really. We made great strides last year and the expectancy for us is to improve again. Our task is to make sure we’re in the Champions League again next year. Our first target is fourth and then we’ll look to push on from there.”

Newcastle United will have to battle hard to maintain their Champions League status this season, especially with a Manchester City side looking to improve on last season's poor effor under Manuel Pellegrini and Tottenham looking more settled under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

To make matters worse for Newcastle United, their spending so far in the transfer window is far from concluded. The club have invested heavily in two player thus far, Layvin Kurzawa and Neal Maupay, who joined from Nice, but Ginola desperately needs a centre-midfielder, The club do though have a shortlist of players they have been keeping an eye, watch this space
fourth can be quite a tough target, but with some quality signings, i'm sure you'll be there or there abouts :)

great udpates, and good luck!
I don't expect you to be as successful this season, how are you doing keeping the clubs away from HBA?
Griffo - there have been no offers for Ben Arfa so far, but there is still 5 weeks of the transfer window left, im sure we will have plenty of offers before then
4th is a good target, easily reachable.
A solid goal, and if you managed to keep Hatem in the squad... I don't see it being impossible at all.
