Sissoko scores early on as Newcastle United beat City

A wonder goal from Moussa Sissoko earned Newcastle United their third Premier League win of the season, with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City at St. James' Park on Saturday.

The French midfielder netted an outstanding individual effort early on, and it was no more than the Magpies deserved after dominating the match from start to finish.

Sissoko celebrates giving Newcastle United the lead

Captain Fabricio Coloccini, Remy Cabella, Janmaat, Papiss Cisse and Ben Arfa all threatened but were unable to extend their lead.

Newcastle broke the deadlock inside fifteen minutes. Moussa Sissoko scored a goal that will be talked about for years to come as he beat three defenders before rifling the ball past Joe Hart to send the Geordies into raptures.

Newcastle were dominating possession and despite having the lead were lacking a cutting edge in the final third, and Janmaat took matters into his own hands midway through the half, striding forward from his right-back role before unleashing a 25-yard drive which was straight at visiting goalkeeper Joe Hart.
It took City half an hour to muster their first attempt but Sergio Aguero was going to have to produce something special to beat Tim Krul from 30 yards, and so it proved as his strike sailed harmlessly into the Gallowgate.

The hosts were soon back on the front foot and Cisse forced Hart into a save with his legs from a tight angle, having chested down an angled pass and held off the challenge of Vincent Kompany
With three minutes of the half remaining, the Senegalese striker went close again, this time nodding Mathieu Janmaat's deep cross back across goal and narrowly wide of the upright.

It was more of the same after the break; plenty of Magpies' possession but just struggling to make a real impact in the final third.

It was more of the same after the break; plenty of Magpies' possession but just struggling to make a real impact in the final third.
But on the hour mark they briefly sparked into life. First, Ben Arfa saw a strike from the edge of the area deflect straight into Hart's grateful grasp, before Demichelis almost headed past his own keeper, and Cisse and Coloccini both saw shots blocked.

It was one-way traffic and Ginola called upon Ayoze Perez and Remy Cabella from the substitutes' bench in an attempt to finally put the match out of sight.

However it was City who almost managed to level the score, with only a fine, full-length save from Tim Krul keeping out Toure's 20-yard free-kick.

Ginola made his final throw of the dice on 74 minutes, introducing new signing Neal Maupay, and the French forward almost made an immediate impact, forcing a corner from which Hart saved Cisse's header

Newcastle United dominated til the final whistle blew and took all three points and another clean sheet at St. James' Park.

Remaining fixtures

next up was Arsenal and a trip to the Emirates stadium, the boys were in bouyant mood after beating City in the previous match but had no match for Arsenal as they cruised to a 3-00 win with goals from Oliver Giroud x2 and Jack Wilshere, West Ham followed in a traditionally tough fixture but we came away with the 3 points after Neal Maupay had given us an early lead

Barclays Premier League Table

so after the fist 6 games of the season we sit in third place behind leaders Manchester United and suprise packets Cardiff City, Arsenal currently find themselves flirting with relegation but with 32 matches left they're sure to climb the ladder and challenge for the title

Upcoming Fixtures

our first match of October takes us to Anfield to face Liverpool who are led by German Bernd Schuster, we then welcome Cardiff and Southampton to St James Park to conclude the month, i feel a minimum of 7 points will be a good point tally to take from the month

Nice win against city unlucky on arsenal match though
A decent start even with the gunners loss bud and good to see Maupay off the mark early on.

Newcastle United cruise past Bayern Munich at St James Park

Bayern Munich have been sent back to Germany pointless after Newcastle United put on a great display at St James Park

Newcastle, who had lost their Champions League match to PSG, took the lead through Papiss Cisse's first-half header.

A sizeable number of Magpies fans arrived late at St James Park due to traffic problems, some even missing the opening goal from Cisse, all 47,000 fans packed inside the stadium witness Siem De Jong double the lead not long after the break before Remy Cabella wrapped it all up with 15 minutes to go.

Franck Ribery missed a good early chance to put the visitors ahead, scuffing his shot wide after Tim Krul made a hash of Boateng's cross.

But Newcastle were already looking far more dangerous, with Ben Arfa and Daryl Janmaat facing little resistance as they staged repeated raids down the right.

Cisse celebrates his opener against Bayern Munich

Remy Cabella saw one effort blocked from a Goretzka cross, before Janmaat advanced from right-back and flashed in a shot that Manuel Neuer pushed away.

From the resulting corner, Balanta saw Neuer claw his header onto the bar but there was no stopping Cisse's far-post header after more good work by Cabella.
The French midfielder made his side's first goal with a precise cross and twice almost extended their lead, seeing first a shot and then a cross deflected against the woodwork.

Bayern's best hope of a reply seemed to lie with Lewandowski but the Polish hitman forward was denied by Krul's outstretched leg after a mazy run and faded after the break.

Arjen Robben replaced Ribery and had an immediate impact, forcing a point-blank stop from Krul, but Muncih's frustration continued when Fabricio Coloccini somehow cleared Aron Muller's shot off the line with his keeper beaten.

Ashley was not present but the fans vented their frustration under the current regime, but the Geordie faithful were given something to smile about before the end. De Jong was left alone to slot home from six yards with 57 minutes gone, and Cabella completed the scoring from even closer after Perez's header was saved.

Match Overview

Ginola: funds available to strengthen squad in January

David Ginola has confirmed that Newcastle United are looking to bring in new faces in January and that funds are available to do the necessary business.

The news comes as it’s revealed that the club are trying to insert non-qualification clauses into player contracts should they not qualify for the Champions League. This would see apparently players take a pay-cut for failing to finish in the top four.

Mike Ashley has promised David Ginola funds to bring new players in during January

Speaking on French television after after the Champions League match against Bayern Munich, the Newcastle United manager said, “This winter we will work very hard because we have some funds available. It could happen that we buy two players, but I cannot reveal the names.”

With regard to the player contract issue, an Newcastle spokesperson said, “Each player has an individual contract which contains elements of performance-related payments, which are linked to a player’s individual contribution and also to the club’s progress in both domestic and European competitions.
Hopefully with these funds you can strengthen the squad even more.

Newcastle United leave Italy with all three points in Smash and Grab win

A late goal by Spanish forward Ayoze Perez gave Newcastle United a 1-0 win in Naples on Wednesday (AEST) as the Geordies dream of progression from the Groupstage.

The home side were heavy favourites to beat Newcastle, having beaten PSG and Bayern in their two previous games but despite having more shots they barely tested visiting goalkeeper Tim Krul.

And Newcastle United young gun Ayoze Perez forced a shot past Rafael on 81 minutes to end hopes of a third successive win in the group stage. The hosts had had ample warning before the solitary goal was scored, but they failed to clear their box and when Clement Grenier's shot was blocked, Perez did brilliantly to scoop the ball over Rafael, who was left clawing at air.

Raul Albiol, who had almost gifted Perez a second, clattered a header just wide of the post from close range, Napoli came close to an equaliser as Marek Hamsik looked on in disbelief as Krul superbly saved his stoppage-time shot from eight yards.

Although they seldom found any fluency in the opening 45 minutes, Napoli could easily have been in front early on when Zuniga's cross was diverted inches wide of his own goal by Alvarez Balanta.
And, even in the midst of the heavy first-half pressure from Napoli, Siem De Jong should have done better than head wide from an Remy Cabella's corner.

Both chances came against the run of play, with Matuidi and Behrami dictating for the hosts.
For all their possession the team in blue only occasionally threatened Krul, with Hamsik forcing a nervous-looking save, which came back off Higuain and, fortunately for the keeper, back into his arms.

But Ginola and Newcastle United were to have the last word, as Benitez and Napoli count the cost of failure.

Match Overview

UEFA Champions League groupstage

after that amazing away win against Napoli we currently sit atop our group on goal difference ahead of Napoli, Bayern Munich and PSG trail the group on three points apiece. A win against Napoli in the return match next matchday could all but secure our place in the next round

Great stuff!!!
That Champions League group is ridiculous

Liverpool and Newcastle United shared the spoils in an entertaining goalless Premier League draw at Anfield.

Newcastle United boss David Ginola will be pleased with a return of 17 points from the first 9 as his side - for now - sit fifth.
He will also take comfort from the blossoming partnership at the heart of his defence between Fabricio Coloccini and Alvarez Balanta.

However, it was the hosts who spent long periods of the second period on the front foot and will consider themselves unlucky not to have taken all three points.

For David Ginola, the wait for a first Premier League goal of the season for Papiss Cisse goes on but he will be encouraged by an impressive cameo from the bench by the senegal international.
but he did came closest to winning it when he latched onto Ayoze Perez's through ball with a minute left but saw his low effort well saved by Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina.

Both sides had chances in an open first half but were let down by wayward finishing.
With Liverpool lft back Jose Enrique a menace from left-back, Newcastle went closest through impressive midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa, who curled a long shot narrowly wide.

Right-back Daryl Janmaat twice went close for Newcastle after the break with a header and a fizzing drive.
Magpies centre-half Coloccini hit an air shot from Cabella's looping pass before substitute Cisse almost snatched the three points.

Newcastle manager David Ginola: "I thought we had had control today, particularly the second half where we absolutely dominated but couldn't find the moment. You could almost see HBA trying too hard to force the moment.
"We had some great chances. Cisse had a massive chance at the end. I am pleased with the team. We know we need to threaten but there were a lot of good things today. We haven't scored and that will be hanging on us now.

"We've got our fingers on the pulse on transfers. Whether we can get anybody in or even two,in January I don't know. I think there will be some movement. Maybe one or two going out, we'll see.

"I don't think there will be a problem with Cheick Tiote. I don't envisage losing him."

Remaining fixtures

Up next was a home match against Cardiff City and despite registering 24 shots at goal, we couldnt manage to find a breakthrough. Cardiff managed to score late to send the away side home with all three points, 4 days later Southampton arrived in at St James Park but had no answers to our fluid attacking play and succumb to goals from Ben Arfa and club Captain Fabricio Coloccini

Barclays Premier League Table

After nine matches of the season gone we sit 5th, on 17 points, 6 points behind leaders Manchester United who are looking very strong at the moment. Cardiff City still holding on strong but will not expect to be there come the latter stages of the season

Upcoming Fixtures

We begin November with three consecutive away trips to Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and West Brom respectively, before we finish the month off with a home clash against current champions Chelsea

Quality stuff to be still be in contention to qualify your Champs League group, let alone win it! Hard fixtures ahead with the away games but 3 wins could really get you towards United, keep it up mate! Howay the lads!
