Fantastic signings from both Laudrup's, especially Thiago :)
Thiago is quite the capture. A very, very high quality player who probably could be even better if it weren't for injuries.
What a signing!
OllieGrocott: Thanks pal, hopefully they all perform as I hope they will! :)

Walter: He is definitely a star, he is the highest paid player at the club now. I sincerely hope he can be a difference-maker for us, can't wait to see him alongside Koke! :D

Jonte-23: Cheers!!

JI AND AUBAMEYANG SHOWN THE DOOR AT DORTMUND

An attacking exodus has begun at Signal Iduna Park as Borussia Dortmund have announced the sales of two strikers, South Korean Ji Dong-Won to Aston Villa and Gabonese international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to AS Monaco. This signals the potential arrival of new strikers in the coming weeks.

Brian Laudrup has begun his transformation of Borussia Dortmund's front line with the sales of two strikers, Ji Dong-Won and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Korean, who spent the entire season with Borussia Dortmund II, has completed a €7.5M to Aston Villa, while Aubameyang has completed a more high-profile €17.5M move to French moneybags AS Monaco.

Ji ends dismal Dortmund spell

It's been a tough twelve months in Germany for Ji Dong-Won. After moving on a free transfer to Borussia Dortmund last summer, many people were wondering if Ji would be the next Asian star in the Bundesliga. However, he fell thoroughly out of favor with Brian Laudrup and spent the whole season with the reserves, where he scored 13 goals and added 8 assists in 21 games. A €7.5M move to Aston Villa will give the striker another chance in the Premier League, where Ji will hope to kick start his career and make good on his potential.

Aubameyang sent packing to France

Some fans are surprised to see Pierre-Emerick sent on his way. The attacker, who can play on the right or up the middle, scored 19 goals and added 8 assists in 39 appearances last season, not a bad return, and caused many defenses problems with his burning pace. However, AS Monaco have signed him on a five year contract after agreeing a €17.5M fee. Some pundits are suspecting the money Monaco offered was what prompted the transfer, but fans are hoping that instead this sale signals upcoming arrivals of a new strike force.

New strikers headed to Westfalenstadion?

With Ciro Immobile the only remaining first-team striker left at Borussia Dortmund, Brian Laudrup is likely on the lookout for one or two new attackers. So far, the Dane has remained silent on potential targets, but two names lead the list for der BVB. 2014's European Golden Boy Mauro Icardi is the frontrunner to make the move to Germany after scoring 28 goals for Inter last season, while another Barcelona youth product in the form of Munir El Haddadi is also being touted as a potential signing for the Germans. Who will come? Only time will tell.

Surprising to see Aubameyang leave the club, but I'm sure you'll find a more then apt replacement. May I add, great signing with Atletico in getting Thiago, a high quality player who will fit right into your side!
Really nice to see Ji-Dong Won leave at that fee, and I have a reason to believe that Icardi will be the signing for a nice fee for Inter, too.
Thiago was a class signing, would love to see Icardi move over as well but the fee will be steep.
Icardi would be fantastic signing and Thiago is class
pompeyblue: Perhaps a puzzling sale, but all will be explained in due time. As for Thiago, I hope he fits in as you predict and makes a big impact! :D

Pauker: Ji earned me a good bit of profit, since we signed him on a free. And, if we do sign Icardi, he certainly won't be coming cheap :P

Feliks: I really hope Thiago comes up big time for us! As I told Pauker, Icardi will be expensive but hopefully worth it! :)

mo_123: Two huge players, hopefully if I capture Icardi both players will be superstars!

RAUL GARCIA AND JOSE GIMENEZ MAKE STADIO VICENTE CALDERON DEPARTURES

  • The Spanish attacking midfielder completed a €23.5M transfer to SS Lazio
  • Promising young Uruguayan center back makes surprise move to Manchester City
  • Atletico had to accept the offer after City met his €11M release clause

  • There has been quite a bit of business being conducted in the red and white half of Madrid this past afternoon as two of Atletico Madrid's players have completed overseas transfers. Raul Garcia and Jose Gimenez, two good players who were rotation options last season, have both opted to move on and clear up space in the Atletico squad.

The first to go was attacking midfielder Raul Garcia. The Spaniard had made 195 La Liga appearances for Los Colchoneros over the seven years he spent at the Estadio Vicente Calderon and, especially under Diego Simeone, was a big fan-favorite for his physical attacking performances. Garcia scored 9 goals in 28 appearances last season, not a bad rate, but struggled to get extended runs in the first team.

However, with the likes of Angel Correa and Arda Turan ahead of him. With the highly touted youngster Oliver Torres coming back from loan and Thiago Alcantara having moved to the club, it is no surprise that Garcia has signed a five year contract worth €75k per week with SS Lazio in the Serie A after the two clubs agreed a €23.5M fee.

Garcia will hope to celebrate many goals in Italy with his new club, SS Lazio.

Jose Gimenez is ready "to take the next step" after his outstanding year in Spain.

Jose Gimenez was the second man out the door. The 20 year old central defender was the third string last season, behind stars Joao Miranda and Diego Godin, and made 28 appearances while racking up a 7.43 average rating. The youngster often struggled with his composure in big games, however, and has now been moved on to Manchester City.

Gimenez had an €11M release clause in his contract that Manuel Pellegrini quickly met, leaving Atletico no choice but to accept. Michael Laudrup, despite saying he initially wanted to keep Gimenez at the club, said ultimately the team would be fine. Toby Alderweireld has returned from loan at Southampton, and fellow young Uruguayan Emiliano Velasquez has returned from his loan at Getafe. The duo will likely be able to fill in for Gimenez with relative ease.

Thiago seems like a good signing, but he's extremely injury prone in game. Also, the loss of Gimenez is a huge blow to Atleti, as he becomes a beast in the later years of the game. However, I'm confident that Thiago will prove me wrong and Gimenez's replacement at Atleti will improve the side even more. Good Luck! :D
Alderwield is really good, has like 7.50 + rating every time. Why didn't you offer Gimenez a new contract tho :/ ? Very good fee for Raul Garcia, on the side of Atleti, that is. Looks like you have your team set w/ Manquillo coming back next season to replace Juanfran :P
Big departures from both teams in Aubameyang and García. Good fees received, truth be told, but will you be reshuffling your tactical approach to suit their replacements? :P
JasonRM: Keeping Thiago fit is going to be a big priority, as he is undoubtedly one of the world's very best young players. It was definitely a shame to lose Gimenez, but I feel fine with Alderweireld and Vasquez as the new backups :)

Pauker: The Belgian is my third choice, currently, but he should get plenty of time game time rotating in for either Diego Godin or Joao Miranda. As for Gimenez, I did offer him a new contract once I realized his release clause was so low, but by then he chose City over me :(

Justice: Not too much of a tactical shift, no. Instead I'll be looking to upgrade the quality of the players, not necessarily so much the style of the players. You'll have to wait and see, though ;)
