League Table
Player of the Month
Pasquale Mazzocchi
The youngster has really burst onto the scene this month as Parma have appeared revitalised. The winger has made 5 appearances, scoring 1 goal and assisting 3 to really help push Parma into the promotion race. A lot of hard work has gone into turning the youngster into a first team regular and the midfielder has repaid his manager’s faith with some quality performances.
Injuries
Francesco Luoni. The right back, suffered a back strain part way through January, although he will only miss the next 8 days before being available for selection again.
Matteo Guazzo. Unfortunately for the forward, he is once again in the treatment room with a sprained ankle, and will miss the next 5 weeks of the season in a big blow for Paolo Vanoli’s men.
Next Month
After moving towards the top of the table, Parma are in with a real shot at pushing for promotion being 6 points clear. With four games against mid table or relegation threatened sides, and one against promotion chasing teams, Parma start the month at home to relegation threatened Legnago, before surprise package San Marino Calcio play hosts to Paolo Vanoli’s men. A week later, Ravenna will visit Parma in a big game at the top with the visitors hoping to close the gap on league leaders Parma. The next two fixtures against Mezzolara and Altovicentino will be slightly easier with Parma hoping to take six points from the two games.
Other News
24.01.2016: With his side sitting 19th in the Serie D table, Mezzolara took the decision to sack Fabio Bazzini as their manager in hope that the new man in charge can move the club away from the threat of relegation.
Manager’s Thoughts
A really good month, where the only blemish on our record was that poor performance against Union Arzignano. Other than that though we’ve been brilliant in January and we have moved ourselves into first place and now, hopefully, we can really start motoring away towards that promotion place and the chance to compete for the Scudetto. The players are all desperate to do well this year and they’re working extremely well together which is brilliant to see and watch. The new player Simone Edera has settled in really well, which again is pleasing and hopefully if he impresses enough for the rest of the season we can start looking to bring him in on a permanent deal. However that is a long way off at the moment. There are still 14 games left to play, but if we can take each game as it comes and get a positive result in as many of them as possible then we can really start to look forward to life in the Lega Pro next year.
