SERIE D GIRONE D PREVIEW: ROMAGNA CENTRO VS. PARMA
Date: 20 December 2015 Kick Off: 15:00
Romagna Centro Based In: Martorano Position: 6th Manager: Roberto Rossi Captain: Angelo Gregorio Key Player: Andrea Zamagni Injuries & Suspensions: Alessandro Semprini Last Match: 1-1 Vs. Legnagno Form:
Fans Prediction:”We’re having an okay season, and for a club of our size, maybe we shouldn’t even be doing as well as that. However against a club like Parma, they always have the ability to bounce back, especially from the poor run they are in and I would fully expect them to overcome us here, even if we will give them a good run for their money.”
Parma Based In: Parma Position: 2nd Manager: Paolo Vanoli Captain: Alessandro Lucarelli Key Player: Daniele Melandri Injuries & Suspensions: Giacomo Ricci Last Match: 0-0 Vs. Villafranca Veronese Form:
Fans Prediction:”We’re on a poor run of form over the last couple of games with over one win in five games in all competitions so we really need to try and improve on that here. We were really close to Forli a few games ago and we’ve fallen behind again so we’ve got to at least try and keep close to them today if not close the gap. Hopefully though, Paolo will be able to pull us out of this mini slump and guide us to victory.”
05.12.2015: Parma 1-1 Bellaria - Parma Come From Behind To Claim Point Against Bellaria
48: A. Garattoni
56: M. Guazzo M. Gabrielli
After their defeat last time out, Parma’s promotion bid took another hit as Bellaria turned up to the Ennio Tardini and claimed a point from the title hopefuls. Bellaria took the lead after 48 minutes as Garattoni managed to connect with a beautifully floated Cesselon cross into the penalty area, with the Italian forward connecting well and sending the visiting fans into raptures. However the home side were level again just 8 minutes later as Matteo Guazzo pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area to fire past the Bellaria keeper to level the scores and claim a point that kept them within touching distance of Forli.
12.12.2015: Villafranca Veronese 0-0 Parma - Three Games Without Victory Sees Parma Slide Away From First Edoardo Cecco
It was another frustrating night for Parma as they left Villafranca Veronese with only a point as they failed to carve out any serious goal scoring chances. With Forli winning their game it meant that the gap at the top of Serie D was opened up to four points again leaving Parma chasing top spot in the league after 18 games of the regular season.
20.12.2015: Romagna Centro 2-3 Parma - Parma Back To Their Flowing Best With Win
12: P. Mazzocchi
30: G. Rigoni
65: F. Corapi
80: R. Musetti
86: G. Rizzitelli Simone Tonelli
In a thrilling away game, a change of tactic for Parma saw them earn a 3-2 victory away from home to keep themselves firmly in the hunt for promotion to the Lega Pro. Youngster Pasquale Mazzocchi got Parma off to a flyer after he was played through by deep lying playmaker Walter Rodriguez, to connect with the loose ball and rifle it into the far top corner to give Parma the lead. However after 30 minutes Gianluca Rigoni had fired Romagna Centro level with a simple header at the near post. However Francesco Corapi put Parma back in front after 65 minutes as he was played in by a terrific cross from Francesco Luoni and dinked the ball into the bottom corner to set Parma on their way to victory. Then in the 80th minute, Corapi’s searching cross into the penalty area found Riccardo Musetti who smashed the ball into the back of the net to secure the three points for Parma despite in the 86th minute Gianluca Rizzitelli pulling one back for the hosts.
Player of the Month
After reclaiming his starting XI spot back from Giacomo Ricci, Rodrigo Alborno has had a terrific month really helping the team’s cause, despite the results on the pitch not being the greatest. His work rate and ability to get forward have been second to none and he is really pushing for a permanent transfer to the Ennio Tardini.
Giacomo Ricci. The only major injury in Parma’s squad is a cruel one as former player of the month winner Giacomo Ricci will miss between four and five months of the season with a damaged Achilles tendon.
A big month of fixtures coming up for Parma as they face five games in January in which they will be desperate to get themselves on top of the Serie D table as we approach the second half of the season. First up for the Crusaders is the return game against Virtus Castelfranco in a game that, against a team struggling for form, Parma will be desperate to pick up three points in, before facing mid table opposition in Ribelle and Union Arzignano at home and away. Next up for Parma is the visit of Sammuarense in a game that many will favour Paolo Vanoli’s side in, before the Crusader’s visit struggling Fortis Juventus in their final game of the month.
It’s been a month that’s ended on a much more positive note and the way we played against Romagna Centro was the best we’ve played for a little while so that was really pleasing to see and I am happy for the lads. We’ve still got a lot of work to do but I do feel that Forli have a couple of slip ups in them, and hopefully we will be there to take advantage of that and really cause them some upset. There is a big month of fixtures to come for us next month but I am confident we can go and give it a real crack and get some good results against some good teams.
