Parma have today confirmed their latest batch of new recruits as Fabiano Santacroce and Giammario Piscitella become the latest players to join Paolo Vanoli’s team. With Vanoli preparing his team for a campaign in the third tier of Italian football, the Lega Pro, the signings of Santacroce and Piscitella will add top flight experience to the squad at the Ennio Tardini and both Vanoli and the Parma fans will be hoping the players can make a big impact on the clubs affairs in the upcoming season. Santacroce is expected to become one of Vanoli’s first choice defensive pairing and Paolo Vanoli will hope the defender can hit the ground running when Parma return from their pre season break in 6 days time.
Santacroce is a familiar face to Parma fans having made 35 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2014 whilst the club was still in Serie A, having previously played for Napoli in the top flight of Italian football. His new manager at Parma in Paolo Vanoli was delighted to have the player back at the club.
”He is a player that left after the disappointment of what happened to the old club, but he is back now, and ready to make a big impact on the teams fortunes, starting with our bid to get out of the third tier of this countrys footballing pyramid. It’s not going to be easy for him, but I am sure he can settle right back in at this level and become a big part of the team.”
The player himself was also delighted to be back at the Ennio Tardini, declaring
”This is a wonderful club that last year worked its socks off to get back into the third tier, and now I have been given the chance to prove myself at it again. I want to hit the ground running and help this team become a strong force in Italy once again.”
Piscitella was once deemed a potential future star for both Genoa and AS Roma, and although the midfielder’s star has faded a little, resulting in him playing third division football for Parma now, manager Paolo Vanoli was still confident there was still a brilliant footballer waiting to be unlocked.
”He is a wonderful footballer, he has proven that in the short time he has trained with me and the other new signings this month. He was one of the first players to say he wanted to return early so we let him come back and he has looked really solid so far. There is a brilliant footballer in there waiting to be unlocked and really come to the foreground and show Italy what he can do.”
The player was delighted to have been given the chance to prove his worth at the Ennio Tardini.
”Parma have given me a big opportunity to prove myself at this huge club. There is a lot of people pulling in the right direction at the minute and we are on our way to another successful season if we can all pull together. I just want to force my way into the team from now and there is a long pre season campaign to prove my worth to this team.”
