Very equal form and only place between you, hopefully home advantage can give you that important edge you need!
It is THE big game in this title race, bring all three points home!

Player of the Month

Simone Corazza

The revival in Parma’s form during March came because of Simone Corazza whose goals fired Parma to victory against Vicenza and against Trapani and even when the team was out of form, Corazza’s performances were still very high. Unsurprisingly the teams defeat against Cesena came with Corazza failing to get off the bench and Corazza is going to be a key player in the final 9 games as Parma search for promotion to Serie A.

Next Month

Six of Parma’s nine remaining fixtures in Serie B will be played during April making the set of fixtures absolutely massive. The reverse fixture of Parma’s first defeat of the season against Hellas Verona sees Parma visit the relegation threatened side before Frosinone visit the Ennio Tardini. Casertana away from home and Bari at the Ennio Tardini are the next two fixtures, before Paolo Vanoli’s side meet Pescara and Brescia in the final two games of April, with Parma desperate to still be in the top two of Serie B come the end of the month.

Youth Intake

The annual youth intake is upon us and for Parma it doesn’t represent the best of futures with no players really standing out as a potential star of the future.

Other News

24.03.2018: Davide Ballardini was sacked as manager of Spezia Calcio, as a result of the club’s lowly league position. With the club sitting in mid table, having predicted to be competing for promotion this year, the club’s board took the decision to change the face in the managerial hot seat in hope that they could have better campaigns in the future.

Manager’s Thoughts

We’re still in the top two. Less than ten games to go and we’re still in it. If we can keep edging games and picking up three points then so be it, we will be promoted to Serie A. The game against Cesena should have been a better result for us because the game was even before Alessio Innocenti was sent off so there are major positives from that game despite the result. The other performances this month have been better and we’ve got enough points to keep us in the top two. However I do think we need to start picking up more wins and being more consistent because we want Serie A football next year rather than having to play another year of second tier football next year.

SERIE B PREVIEW: PESCARA CALCIO VS. PARMA

Date: 24 April 2018
Kick Off: 20:30

Pescara Calcio
Based In: Pescara
Position: 20th
Manager: Andrea Camplone
Captain: Ledian Memushaj
Key Player: Gaston Brugman
Injuries & Suspensions: N/A
Last Match: 0-0 Vs. Virtus Lanciano
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We’ve been really struggling this season and we’re in real danger of being relegated. However the positive for us is that Parma have been woeful lately and have slipped well out of form so if we can spark some sort of revival by nicking an early goal and just defending as best we can, they don’t seem to be able to offer too much of a threat at the minute and I think we can grab a victory to be honest. Here’s hoping.”

Parma
Based In: Parma
Position: 3rd
Manager: Paolo Vanoli
Captain: Raffaele Di Gennaro
Key Player: Norbert Gyomber
Injuries & Suspensions: Francesco Corapi, Niccolo Belloni
Last Match: 0-0 Vs. FC. Bari
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”The team has had some sort of meltdown in this calendar year, where one defeat has sent them spiralling downwards and the form has just gone. So has the confidence and we look a shadow of our old selves at the minute. Simply put, Pescara are a team that need a victory at the minute and if I’m being honest, they’ll get it against us, because we’re playing some shocking football and I really think we’ve blown our chances of automatic promotion.”

Solid month and a decent gap between you and the teams below. Shame about the youth intake. Good luck vs Pescara neither of you look in to good form right now
I genuinely believe the Serie A will be yours next season if your players can avoid a meltdown! Huge 10 games mate best of luck :)
The final run of games for the season will surely be intense! Best of luck against Pescara, show them hell!

Not in the best form at all man but we have proved we can cut it at this level and if we can just get some confidence back we'll be okay!

League Table

Player of the Month

Mattia Minesso

After a dreadful month for Parma which sees their automatic promotion hopes hanging by a thread, Mattia Minesso wins this award purely for his performance against Brescia where he turned the team from a team not worthy of competing in the fifth tier, to a team that looked like Serie B contenders again. His performance was brilliant as Paolo Vanoli reverted back to the 4-4-1-1 system that had served the team so well for last season and most of this season, meaning Minesso was reintroduced to the side, and it helped stop Parma’s awful form and got them somewhat back on track.

Injuries

Niccolo Belloni. The winger who has been pivotal to Parma’s season so far has missed the majority of April with a thigh strain and his return in around a weeks time is long awaited.
Francesco Corapi. Much like Belloni, Francesco Corapi has been key to Parma’s promotion chances this year, but in picking up a hip injury, Corapi will miss the next two months ruling him out of the rest of the season after missing the majority of April.
Denis Baumgartner. Another of Parma’s key players will miss the rest of the season with a calf strain, ruling him out for 5 weeks so the Slovakian forwards season is over.

Next Month

Finally the final three fixtures of a long season. With the visit of Calcio Catania and the trip to Lecce, Parma face opponents that are struggling towards the bottom of the table and should, in theory, be games that Parma look to take maximum points from. Doing so will almost certainly keep them in touch with Empoli, who they meet on the final day of the season, with the winner, if all goes to plan for both sides, securing promotion to Serie A next year and the other having to play in the Play Offs to make the leap up a division.

Other News

17.04.2018: Spezia Calcio took a big step forwards, by appointing their new manager, with UEFA Champions League winning forward Filippo Inzaghi being unveiled as their new man in charge. The former Milan forward had previously managed the Rossoneri and will be hoping of taking Spezia forward and into Serie A.

Manager’s Thoughts

On the whole a completely appalling month. The victories against Hellas Verona and Brescia need to be put aside for one moment. Our performances in every game bar those two this month were absolutely dreadful and it was form that wasn’t worthy of a team in the fifth division let alone Serie B. We didn’t deserve promotion to Serie A based on those performances alone. Hopefully though they are behind us now and we have three games to put in our absolute best to try and seal promotion back into Serie A ahead of next year. The game against Brescia was a great watch, at least for 48 minutes, although I did fear they were going to pull it back, but ultimately they didn’t and we won the game and closed the gap on Empoli to just two points. We play them on the final day of the season and if we win the other two games next month and then beat Empoli we will be promoted to Serie A. But then, I wouldn’t put it past us at the minute to lose all three games.

I SAID NO MELTDOWN GRIFFEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME!! Best of luck man you still have the initiative :)

PARMA SECURE DEAL FOR YOUNG BRAZILIAN

10 May 2018

19 year old Cesar has made 8 appearances for his club side Gremio in this years Copa Libertadores.
________________________________________
- 19 year old midfielder Cesar will join club from Gremio in the summer
- Deal believed to be worth around £2 million to Brazilian club
- Youngster signs deal to keep him at the Ennio Tardini until June 2021

Parma have today completed their first piece of business ahead of next season, by confirming the signing of Julio Cesar Goulart, or Cesar from Brazilian side Gremio. The midfielder who turned 19 last birthday, will join Paolo Vanoli’s side on July 1st after the two clubs agreed on a fee believed to be worth around £2 million once additional add ons have been taken into account. The move comes as an exciting development for Parma fans as they start to see their side invest in quality players for the future ahead of a possible return to Serie A for next year, although both Paolo Vanoli and the player himself reiterated their desire to include the Brazilian in the sides first team plans straight away.

The midfielder arrives on a three year deal that will keep him at the club until June 2021, and after scouting the player for a long time, Parma manager Paolo Vanoli was delighted to have finally got his man. The manager also added that the intention was for Cesar to be joining the club with Parma in Sere A but that even if promotion wasn’t secured, the midfielder would still be a brilliant addition to the teams midfield. ”Yes, it’s true we’ve been watching Cesar for a long time now and we first became interested in him whilst we were in Lega Pro. However due to the restrictions of the league this was a transfer that wasn’t possible until now and with him securing a Portuguese passport, we now had the ability to sign him and we have. He is a very good young player that has a massive future ahead of him, and hopefully we can nurture him and help him develop into the top class player that we are desperate for him to become. He is first team ready already in terms of his ability, it will just be a question of letting him settle in in the country and blend into the squad and hopefully that can happen as soon as possible and then we will have a very good player on our books.”

The midfielder himself, who helped Gremio to finish third in last season’s Brazilian Serie A and has impressed in this years Copa Libertadores, was excited to move to Europe and join up with his new team mates in Italy once the day of his transfer arrived. ”Obviously I cannot wait. They’re a team with a lot of quality and a lot of history in recent times and they’ve gone through some hard times but they’re back on the up. It is a great chance for me to move to Europe and really make a big mark on my career and hopefully I can show the fans and the manager what I can do and play a lot of football next year. I cannot wait, and hopefully with any luck the team will do the hard work now and secure a place in Serie A next year.”

SERIE B PREVIEW: EMPOLI VS. PARMA

Date: 18 May 2018
Kick Off: 20:45

Empoli
Based In: Empoli
Position: 2nd
Manager: Walter Zenga
Captain: Robert Gucher
Key Player: Riccardo Saponara
Injuries & Suspensions: Salvatore D’Elia, Riccardo Saponara
Last Match: 2-0 Vs. Virtus Lanciano
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”This is it, everything we’ve worked so hard for comes down to this. It is a little bit frustrating that it is coming down to this final game because of how well we’ve done in the second half of the season and how poor Parma have been. The matter of the fact is, win it and we go up and to be honest I’m expecting Parma to crumble and for us to definitely be playing Serie A football next year.”

Parma
Based In: Parma
Position: 3rd
Manager: Paolo Vanoli
Captain: Raffaele Di Gennaro
Key Player: Norbert Gyomber
Injuries & Suspensions: Francesco Corapi, Denis Baumgartner Pedro Pereira
Last Match: 3-1 Vs. US Lecce
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”Considering how appalling our form has been in the second half of this season, I’m not too sure whether we deserve to be in this situation or not. But at the end of the day, one more victory sends us into Serie A. We can’t afford to draw or lose, we have to win and Paolo Vanoli has to get that message across going into this game. For me it wouldn’t surprise me whatever happens, we’ve been so poor, but we could easily put in a brilliant performance and win the tie. To be honest I can’t see us winning the game though, and if we don’t, then for me Paolo Vanoli’s future has to be questioned because surely he could and should have done more to stop the rut we’ve been in since the turn of the calendar. But for now let’s all get behind the team and hopefully help fire them to victory, even if I think we’ll slip up.”

The three biggest games of Parma's recent history. Do us proud!
