2019-11-27 15:16#263280 ScottT : A very good start to the season. I'm surprised to see newly promoted Radcliffe Borough accompany you at the top of the pile, albeit we are only five games into the season. A slow start by some of the more favoured clubs for promotion could aid you in your bid to secure promotion. South Shields will be your toughest challengers personally. They have a budget that could attract some excellent players to this kind of level. Josh Amis' departure to Southport strikes me as an interesting one considered he didn't start in either of the two games he was available for. Either you've missed a trick or you have a strong pool of options, I'd lean towards the latter! Have to mention that I love the simplicity of the lay-out. Simple but very effective. Keep up the good work.

I don't expect them to stay there if I'm honest. As you say I'd expect South Shields to be up there, maybe Lancaster too. In terms of strikers, I don't really like any of my options and it's something I'm looking to address in September, hence his departure.

Glad you love the simplicity of the layout, that's what I was going for!

2019-11-27 19:25#263291 TheLFCFan : Won't pretend to know half as much as Scott! But second is a good place to be, lets hope you only continue to go up! Good start, going unbeaten, keep it up!

Thanks, that's the plan!

2019-11-27 20:58#263297 Griffo : Great start for the mighty Yellows!

Indeed, let's just hope we can maintain it

After the disappointing draw last time out, I decided to run with a two striker formation for the home game against Mickleover. It was a total success as we ran out 30 winners and dominated the game. That's definitely given me food for thought.

Warrington Town draw Potters Bar Town at home in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round

Wednesday 11th September
Striker Tony Gray departs the club, joining Farsley Celtic on a free transfer

Not our greatest performance but we more than deserved the win in the end. With Tony Gray leaving, the lack of depth at striker showed in this one so I'll be looking to bring in a striker or two before next week's FA Cup game.

Tuesday 17th September
Striker Lewis McNall turns us down to join Buxton.

Former Newcastle striker Tom Heardman joins us on a free transfer

Friday 20th September
James Gray becomes our latest signing, the striker joining on a free transfer.

We made an absolutely horrendous start, conceding inside the first three minutes. That seemed to shock the lads back into life and we equalised almost straight away. From there, we were the better team and safely made it into the 3rd qualifying round. Still a lot of room for improvement.

Monday 23rd September
Warrington drawn to play either Aylesbury United or FC United at home in the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round.

Wednesday 25th September

An excellent result away against the 4th placed side in the league and one that keeps us top of the table. Being honest, the red card for them helped us a lot but take nothing away from our lads, they were excellent from start to finish.

Saturday 28th September
Evo-Stik Premier League Matchday #9

Buxton 1 - Hardy (54)
Warrington Town 5 - Brown (14), Heardman (33, 74), Chadwick (61, 76)

Another great away win. Our second half performance was a joy to behold and a specific mention has to go to Matt Chadwick, who came off the bench to score twice. I was particularly pleased to see former transfer target Lewis McNall fail to net for Buxton, whilst the guy we signed instead, Tom Heardman, scored twice.

League Table

Unbeaten and we're already starting to build a gap between us and second place, which is fantastic. Hopefully we can keep up this good form and continue to edge away from the rest. Definitely can't complain when you look at the fact that we've scored the most and conceded the least in the league.

Next Month's Fixtures

Next month's fixtures see us take on FC United in the FA Cup before home games against two mid-table sides and away games against bottom club Gainsborough and 15th placed Bamber Bridge.
Excellent month. Goals haven't been in short supply, despite your concerns with the striking options at the club, although Heardman's arrival has certainly aided that cause. FC United present a decent opportunity of progressing to the 4QR of the FA Cup. Alternatively, it's a chance for them to extract revenge. Enjoying this thus far.

We were second best all over the pitch and got away with a draw in this one. I had to switch to 3 in midfield in the second half to stop us getting overrun in midfield which really limited our options going forward. I've got a big decision to make before the replay on Wednesday.

Monday 7th October
FC United or Warrington will host Hartlepool in the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round

Tuesday 8th October
Mike Burke joins Warrington Town as a scout

Wednesday 9th October

After the way the game at home went, I opted to use the 41221 for the replay to give us more stability in midfield. It worked a treat as we dominated the game and won with ease, booking a 4th Qualifying Round tie with National League side Hartlepool.

Saturday 12th October
Evo-Stik Premier League Matchday #10

Absolutely disgraceful. In the first half we were excellent, going in at half-time with a three goal lead. The second half on the other hand...**** me they were awful and we were lucky to escape with a draw. The lads certainly felt my wrath at full-time, that's for sure. Big response needed on Wednesday.

Wednesday 16th October
Evo-Stik Premier League Matchday #11

Warrington Town 0 - N/A
Nantwich Town 0 - N/A

Not the response I wanted really. Sure, we were the better side and they never really looked like winning, but a lot of our shots were from distance and wayward.

Saturday 19th October
FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round

Hartlepool 0 - N/A
Line-Up - Spiess, Raven, Roberts, Corke (Corbett 79), Blackshaw, Garrity, Harris, Mackreth (Dunn 88), Brown, Gray (Chadwick 79), Heardman.
Unused Substitutes - McMillan, Beeley, Jennings, Finnie.
Man of the Match - J. Mackreth (Warrington).

WHAT HAVE I JUST WITNESSED!? I dropped our wingers into right and left midfield for this one in order to be a little more defensive against a side TWO leagues above us but what I saw was totally unexpected. We absolutely DOMINATED and I mean dominated Hartlepool, their keeper made THIRTEEN saves. What a performance from the lads.

Monday 21st October

Three points, job done. That said, I hope we never have to have that pathetic excuse of a referee again. The guy spent more time with this cards out than he did refereeing the game. He gave out thirteen cards including a second for Lewis Blackshaw late on.

League Table

We still sit at the top of the table going into November. If we win our game in hand we'll also go 9 points clear, potentially 12 if we win our next league game.

Next Month's Fixtures

There are some massive fixtures coming up in November, including a top of the table clash with Radcliffe and the FA Cup tie at Grimsby.
1
Huge congratulations on reaching the FA Cup First Round in such excellent circumstances. The month certainly ends on a more positive note after that performance against Stalybridge. Lessons have been learnt, hopefully. Some very important games coming up in the league, but maintaining focus ahead of the Grimsby clash will be vital. A trip to Blundell Park... could have been better, could have been worse for those away supporters.

Sasha Baron Cohen is ready for the first round match up

Another superb performance to put us seven points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand on 2nd place Grantham Town. We were excellent throughout but we really showed what we were capable of in the second half with three goals. Long may the good form continue.

We had to work hard for this one. Ben Garrity's sending off in the first-half put us up against it but we weathered the storm and managed to come away with a 2-1 win. Relieved.

HSDHDHFHFJDSF LIMBS! SCENES! MIRACLES! WHAT JUST HAPPENED!? Jordan Corke is a new FA Cup hero. I can't believe that's happened. I thought we were out, the ball just wouldn't seem to go into the net. Then Chadwick scored and I thought we'd earned a replay but Jordan Corke with a header in injury time means we beat football league opposition and go into the 2nd round. Unbelievable.

Monday 11th November
Warrington drawn to play at home against Stevenage in the FA Cup 2nd Round.

Saturday 16th November
Evo-Stik Premier League Matchday #15
Cantilever Park
Warrington Town 2 - Gray (53), Heardman (90+2)
Whitby Town 0 - N/A

Back to league action and another routine win. Whitby Town came for a 0-0, offering nothing going forward so once we broke them down there was only going to be one team winning the game.

Wednesday 20th November

Our FA Cup tie against Stevenage has been selected for TV. Can't beat a bit of extra money!

Saturday 23rd November
Evo-Stik Premier League Matchday #16
Cantilever Park
Warrington Town 2 - Heardman (15,23)
Morpeth Town 3 - Foalle (1,82), Yonsian (90+4)
Line-Up - Spiess, Raven, Roberts, Corke (Duggan 66), Blackshaw, Mackreth, Harris, Jennings (Finnie 66), Brown, Heardman, Gray (Chadwick 75).
Unused Substitutes - McMillan, Beeley, Byrne, Dunn.

Lewis Blackshaw is an idiot, he has cost us our unbeaten start to the season. To their credit, Morpeth were very good and more than matched us and a draw would have been a fair result. It looked to be heading that way before Lewis stupidly got himself sent off at the death, which they then capitalised on. Fuming.

Sunday 24th November
Goalkeepers Luke O'Reilly, Max Bramley and left-back Andy Kellett join Warrington on a trial basis.

Oh for ***** sake. They equalised with the last kick of the game, talk about annoying. They did probably deserve it tbf but we simply switched off at the end.

Wednesday 27th November

Saturday 30th November

The FA Cup dream is over for this year but we can really proud of what we have achieved. Stevenage deserved the win but we gave them a right good go and could have won it on another day. I'm proud of the lads and I hope the fans are too.

League Table

It could have been more but we sit 8 points clear at the top of the table. I'd have taken that at the start of the season so I'm happy. Now the FA Cup is out of the way, we can focus on our league form.

Next Month's Fixtures

Just four games to play in December with three of them being away from home. I'm targeting at least 8 points from those 4 games really.
An amazing victory against Grimsby. I can imagine how pleased you would have been by that result, especially with the timing of the goals! Very unlucky against Stevenage but a run to the second round is admirable and will certainly aid with the financial side of things. TV coverage against Stevenage is an added bonus! A couple of dropped points towards the end of the month, but a lighter schedule next month may help get you back into your stride. Tom Heardman has certainly found his scoring touch and the signing of Andy Kellett is incredible business should you keep him fit!

Definitely the first proper fist-pump moment of FM20. Getting to the 2nd round was certainly helpful in terms of the finances. I feel like cup runs will be vital to our success in future seasons.

Tom Heardman has well and truly alleviated my fears about our striker options!
Making some progress here, you are in a great position

League Table

9 points clear with a game in hand going into the new year, can't ask for more than that. Tom Heardman has been the standout performer, topping the league scoring charts and having the highest average rating. Jack Mackreth also leads the way in the league for assists.

Next Month's Fixtures

Three home games and two away represents a good chance to build on our lead at the top if we can keep our good form up.
Excellent. Heardman continues to be a man to depend on when it matters most!

That FA Cup run was excellent and the TV money will help the finances. Still sitting very pretty at the top and I think it should be expected that you will see it out from here.

You'd like to think so. The style of play seems to fit the team well along with actually working in the game itself.
