2012-09-03 10:37#65029 stam : A lot of people are worried about Football Manager 2013 system requirements with the fear their old laptop won't be able to handle the new game; either that or there will be annoying delays between 'continues'.

There has been no official statement clarifying whether system specs will remain same on not, but we expect that they are likely to remain the same as FM 2012 and FM 2011.
We will know for sure once Football Manager 2013 Demo is released.

Update 6 September: Steam has launched a pre-purchase page which suggests that FM13 minimum system specs will be slightly higher compared to FM12.

PC
OS - Windows XP/Vista/W7
Processor - XP : 1.6GHz or Faster, Vista/W7/W8 : 2.2GHz or Faster
Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core, AMD Athlon
Memory - XP/Vista/W7/W8 : 1.0GB RAM
Video Card - 128MB *Supported Chipsets (see below)
DirectX: 9.0c
Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Supported Chipsets:
Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 or greater; Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater.
A fully DirectX 9 compliant graphics card is required.
Earlier cards may only display 2D Match Viewer Mode and are not supported.
Earlier cards may require the DirectX 9.0 SDK is installed to run the game.
Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.

Mac
OS - OS X 10.6.8/10.7.x/10.8.x or higher
Processor - Intel Processor
Memory: 1.0GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 7300 GT or greater. ATI Radeon X1600 or greater.

Either PC or Mac, you will need at least 2GB free space in your hard disk drive.

Football Manager on Netbooks
There are people on Netbooks who were able to play Football Manager 2012 just fine by using the special Netbook skin for FM 2012, even though game performance was admittedly slower especially when they tried to load more than one leagues for their save.
The thing is that Netbooks are not powerful enough to provide a smooth playing FM experience, hence why there is no official Netbook optimized skin in the first place.
So if your Netbook could play FM 2012, chances are you'll be able to play FM 2013 on it as well.

Football Manager Handheld
PSP
We expect Football Manager Handheld 2013 for PSP to be playable on both PS Vita and older PSP editions, but most likely without native support for PS Vita. If FMH13 comes out for PSP in the first place that is, because there are some rumors that it might not.
iOS and Android
The specs of FMH 2012 will probably remain the same, so Football Manager Handheld 2013 for iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch shall require iOS 3.0 or higher. So if you're running an iOS version prior to v3.0 you should apply a newer update.
Football Manager Handheld 2013 for Android is expected to require operating system version 2.2 or higher.

Hi I am trying to post on this site. My MAC is a 10.5.8 and I've had no bother with previous football manager games. However, having pre-oredered the new one I have found my computer might not be up to scratch. Will the game run at all? I've enjoyed playing for years and will be frustrated to find I can't keep enjoying the series. Any help or guidance will be great. Its the only game I play. Just concerned I've paid money(My own fault for not checking it would be alright,I just assumed) and i wont get to enjoy the game at all. Big ta.

i dont know much about macs, but SI always make the game quite so friendly even with those with older computers. So you should be able to run it, you might have to run it on lower graphics and such. but you should be able to run it for sure.
Red Army,thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately,I've had to order a disc to upgrade my OS for the Mac. The game wont run. I have ordered a snow leopard disc and that takes it to 10.6 I've looked on the steam forum and it seems alot of Mac users are having same problem. Am not tech savvy,in fact I know nothing about computers. Do you know if now with an upgrade due in a few weeks(Delivery time) the game would run? Can't honestly believe I've went out and bought an upgrade to play the game, haha. But there ye have it. The game is obviously filling out,I've followed it since the early days on an amiga as championship manager! But think this will be the last, just too troublesome. A shame as its a great series and the only game I actually play. Anyway, thanks again for your reply and any help as always appreciated from anyone.
Yes, thegodfuzzy. As far as I know, SI has decided to bring up the system requirements from 10.5 to 10.6 for Mac this year. I think it is because the new Mountain Lion (10.8) has come into effect, so they just assumed people stopped using the old Leopard 10.5 that you are using.
I'm currently using 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and most other games don't work anymore. Even an essential programming tool refuses to work for Macs under 10.7.
I'm sorry I didn't see this before, because I would've suggested you go for Mountain Lion instead of Snow Leopard (if the price difference wasn't too much).

Anyway, I'm talking about random things. If you have bought the upgraded Snow Leopard, which I'm sure you have, the game should work comfortably. Since you are clueless about computers, my suggestion would be to go on the official apple website and make sure you follow the guidelines to backup your files.

Akash. Vidyasagar my thanks to you for reply!

Thats a bugger as I've no idea how much the newer lion would've cost but I have went ahead and purchased the disc (Leopard) and I hope its in quick. I also got more RAM. 2MB which I'll have to put in computer.

If game works(I bloody hope so) with the leopard then no hassle but if not I'll look into the Lion upgrade. Don't really want to be spending all this cash but it can do no harm to upgrade the computer anyway.

When you say "back up my files" is that because they may be wiped when I put in new 10.6 device? I'll have a look and thank you for giving me a shout about that. As I say not really tech savvy but the Mac is an excellent computer and I've had it now nearly 5 years. The reason being they're great and they last. Saves me going out and buying a PC every few years.

You've put my mind at ease that I haven't wasted my money on either the game or the upgrades. Thank you for that. Thats been really eating away at me. And at least I can enjoy the game once everything is in order. You're a good man.
Hi guys 'n' girls

Haven't played the FM series for a few years...thought I'd matured and moved on. I miss it though and hope to purchase the latest installment on its release. I have a seemingly daft question though....Am I likely to encounter difficulties running DX11? I see the developers are still hugging DX9 and I'm wondering if it's DX9.0c upwards or specifically DX9.0c. Yeah I know, silly, but I'm only a couple of gulps into my first coffee of the day.
Hello everybody ...
I really exiting about the new fm13, but i'm as well really scared... In fact I've got a netbook, and my caractéristics seem to be a bit too bad. therefore, I want to know if the game will work on my laptop... Those are the caraxtéristics :

500 GB Seagate SATA hard disk

Hi everyone,

I have just bought a new laptop, a HP Pavilion g7-2089.
It is a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 processor. 2.5 GHz and 4.0 GB RAM. Videocard: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000.

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com tells me that my videocard has 1.7 GB video RAM. It says that I should be able to play FM 2012 perfectly. However, it says that FM 2013 will not work at all, because my Dedicated Video RAM is only 64 MB, while 128 MB is required. I do not know much about laptops or videocards, but the thought that this laptop can't play the new FM never even crossed my mind. Honestly, I still can't believe it. Somewhere on this forum it said that the system requirements have only slightly increased. Please, can someone help me out here? Shouldn't I buy FM 2013??

Thanks in advance!

Hello folks.

I'd appreciate any help...again.

I've never managed to get the game to run. I'm still waiting on Snow Leopard disc to install. I've been told however it wont make a difference to me being able to play game. My graphics aren't powerful enough and my mac wont be able to upgrade this as it's not powerful enough. I'm pretty gutted. I was looking forward to getting into game eventually. Can anyone clarify for me that the game wont run at all? I'll have the OS needed but lack graphics. Does this mean the game wont work?

I've already pre ordered game so I could play beta. Then I thought it might work once I get snow Leopard. Now it's looking like I've wasted my money. I've copied my current graphics below. I can't upgrade.

Thanks for any help on this.

I've just got a new HP pavilion g6 with a AMD E2 Vision processor, I was told this was great for games...I've just loaded my first game with all English leagues, two Spanish leagues and 1 view only German league yet both the estimated game speed and computer performance is 1/2 star. I downloaded the game via steam and was wondering why it was like this and how can I quicken it up? Or will it be quick anyway?
