It is now finally time to look back at July and August 2017.
July started with us facing Myresjo in Superettan, this was an away fixture and at half time in this one we were 2-0 down and not looking very good whatsoever, however we managed to pull back and go on to win 3-2 thanks to goals from Guri Baqaj, Edvin Ahmetovic and Mattias Frejj with Pontus Overgaard being named Man of the Match.
Following the victory against Myresjo we had matches against newly promoted Tegs SK at home and against IFK Norrkoping at home, unfortunately we lost both of these matches, a 1-0 loss to Tegs SK and a 3-2 loss to IFK Norrkoping. I was disappointed at these results as I felt that we were able to beat both of these teams. We then had to travel to face GIF Sundsvall, this match resulted in a 0-0 draw and more disappointment.
To end July we hosted recently relegated Trelleborgs FF, this was a fixture I was not expecting to win and was hoping for a draw at best but much to my surprise we came out of it with a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Ville Kolehaminen, Gabriel Somi and Pontus Overgaard with Kolehmainen being named Man of the Match.
We then went in to August with our first match of the month being against BK Forward in an away game, I was expecting a draw or 1-0 win in this match but it ended up with us winning 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Guri Baqaj, one thing I have noticed is that Baqaj has not had his name chanted by the fans this season and is starting to decline slightly, however he remains the club's first and only icon.
After the victory over Forward we played host to Karlslund at Tornvallen, I was very confident of victory in this match and was right to be confident as we won 3-1 with goals from Dennis Malmqvist and Pontus Overgaard, Overgaard has been really impressive this season and I am confident he will one day be a superstar in the footballing world having signed him at the end of his contract with 3rd tier Hogaborg for £14K compensation.
The Svenska Cupen 2nd Round followed this with us having to travel to face 3rd Tier Vasby United, I felt we could have and should have won this game to advance to the Group Stage but after finishing 1-1 aet, it went to penalties where we performed horribly losing the penalties 5-2. Then it was back to Superettan action with an away game against Syrianska which I was looking forward to and hoping for a victory, however we lost 1-0 due to a change in formation from a 4-3-1-2 to a 4-5-1.
Our last game of August was against Eskilstuna City at home, I was confident of victory in this one as Eskilstuna are not exactly the best side in the league but I was left slightly disappointed with a 1-1 draw being the final score and Pontus Overgaard being named Man of the Match.
We have been severely underperforming this season and could easily be drawn into the relegation battle, I am starting to feel the pressure to stay up.
I leave you with an appropriate song.
