Club World Championships: Another trophy?
This is not a competition that is seen as prestigious in the eyes of English based football teams. However, it is a tournament which I am determined to the ever growing cabinet of Liverpool FC. Liverpool have competed in this tournament before, under the reign of Rafa Benitez, and the team failed miserably. I don’t intend on failing. My aim is to go into this competition, give the youngster’s game time, and just show the world what the future of the Anfield club looks like.
Club World Championships Semi Final
This was an extremely comfortable match for us to win to allow us to progress to the final of the competition. We had 22 good shots at goal so I am definitely surprised we didn’t get more than the 6 we did get. Glyn Ince deputised in goal with Ciaran Price, both players being from the Under 18 squad, and put in very pleasing performances. It was great to see them gel into what is a very tough for any player in the world right now to break in to...ok, so Messi might have a chance!
Erik Lamela is a future captain of Liverpool FC without doubt. He has been the player of the season so far and put in yet another outstanding performance that earned him Man of the Match. There is just not stopping this kid, who still at the young age of 23, has a very bright and promising future ahead of him.
Club World Championships Final
The tournament pitted us against Santos FC from Brazil in the final. This competition is one that the Brazilian teams love to take part in and within my game, Santos would be appearing in their first ever Club World Championship final in their 103 year history. My strong team, in comparison to a Santos team without the prolific Neymar (who is at Manchester United), is predicted to dismiss any challenge that the Brazilian outfit manage to throw at us.
I decided to give both my youngsters, Ince and Price, another game in the spotlight just to see if the first game of their senior career was a fluke. Benzia was given another chance leading the line but in case he didn’t perform, he had Cavani, Coutinho and the man of the moment, Lamela, for back up.
I had hoped for the team to come into this competition and take it by storm and breeze past the teams we were pitted against. We did this. We did it comfortably. Not any point against Santos FC did I start to worry. Not even when they were given a soft penalty, which the lead player for Santos FC, Kieza slotted past Glyn Ince. The competition win was another signal to the world that we intend on dominating world football on all levels. We will take every competition seriously, despite by own personal opinion on “lesser” tournaments. This was another proud moment for the club.
Own Accolades
As a result of Liverpool FC winning yet another trophy under my leadership I have managed to progress in the English Manager Hall of Fame but also take the proud step to being recognised in the Worldwide Hall of Fame.
It is an extremely proud moment for myself to have passed the legend of Anfield that is Bill Shankly. He is a legend of the club so it is an honour to just be on the same list. However, my current aim now is not just bypass Bob Paisley, but instead, I want that number one spot. This is my aim so I can assure you this story is far from over.
I may be down in 20th place on the list but the names is an endless list of footballing legends. I don’t just intend on getting to the top of the English Hall of Fame list but I also intend on making my mark on this prestigious list. I have a feeling that it may take a while...
