Saturday 20th December 2014 – Norwich City v Manchester City (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Nasri, De Rossi, Toure, Nem; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Barry, Milner, Sneijder, Podolski

Norwich Starting XI – Ruddy, Kelly, Bassong, Ayala, Jenkinson; E Bennett, Tettey, Johnson, Bulot; Mason, Gillet SUBS – Matthews, Butterfield, Smith, Snodgrass, Turner, R Bennett, Mellis

For the second game in a row City have dominated a game with over 65% possession and plenty more shots than the opposition and have failed to find the net, only this time their opponents did score and City only have themselves to blame. A great finish from Johnson gave Norwich something to hold onto and they did it.

Final Score – Norwich 1 (Johnson 35) Manchester City 0

MOTM – Sebastian Bassong

Attendance – 26,649

Tuesday 23rd December 2014 – Reading v Manchester City (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Zabaleta, Varane, Nastasic, Ramon; Milner, De Rossi, Sneijder, Silva; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Richards, Kompany, Toure, Nem, Nasri, de Jong

Reading Starting XI – Federici, Martin, Pearce, Gorkss, Mattock; Murray, Gunnarson; Robson-Kanu, Holman; Le Fondre, Pogrebnyak SUBS – Lossl, Mee, Maguire, Madine, Gunter, Lansbury, Parr

With City’s strikers lacking confidence in front of goal, City knew their goals would have to come from elsewhere and today’s first came from an unlikely source as Zabaleta got his first of the season to give City a 1-0 lead at half time. That lead was doubled in the second half by Milner and City held on for a comfortable 2-0 win.

Final Score – Reading 0 Manchester City 2 (Zabaleta 40, Milner 59)

MOTM – Matija Nastasic

Attendance – 23,739
You really have built a ridiculously good squad there, but unlucky about the result against Norwich: there is always that game which you dominate but somehow don't score. Good luck!
Cheers mate! And yeah they are the most frustrating games! You know you should score but you dont and makes it worse when they have 3 shots all game and score lol

Saturday 27th December 2014 – Manchester City v Bolton Wanderers (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Zabaleta, Varane, Lescott, Ramon; Zurak, Barry, Milner, Nem; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Kompany, Clichy, Toure, Bale, Nasri, de Jong

Bolton Starting XI – Bogdan, Baird, Hanlon, Ream, Willems; Pilkington, Rodwell, Vela, Davies, Aluko; Berget SUBS – Lonergan, Malone, Alonso, Fortune, Yann-Erik de Lanley, Green, Ricketts

City’s strikers might not be scoring goals but the team is still winning, today thanks to a brace from young Brazilian Wellington Nem. Nem had a stunning game and Bolton had no answer for his pace and skill.

Final Score – Manchester City 2 (Nem 8, 65) Bolton Wanderers 0

MOTM – Wellington Nem

Attendance – 47,405

Manager’s December Review

A slightly disappointing month sees us fall behind in the race to retain our title, as we dropped five points this month. Things starting positively with a 3-1 win against West Brom, but then we failed to score for 2 games and we dropped 5 points. Since then we have bounced back with two comfortable 2-0 victories, although I have worries over our strikers who have failed to score for a while, with Cavani’s last goal being on the 22nd November and Aguero’s being a week longer.

In the Cup’s I am delighted to reach the Semi’s of the Capital One Cup and we hope to be on the way to Wembley with us facing Nottingham Forest in our Semi-Final. In the Champions League we topped our group and finished off with a very nice 2-1 win against Sporting Lisbon.

My player of the month for December goes to James Milner. He always produces in whatever position I ask him to play and rarely let’s the side down. This month he has contributed in most games and managed to get himself on the scoresheet against West Brom. Gareth Bale’s goal against West Brom on the 6th December has won the Premier League Goal of the Month award, the first by any City player in my time at the Club.

Yaya Toure has been named as Broadcaster’s African Footballer of the Year and was also named in the African Team of the Year. He also finished runner up in the African Footballer of the Year award.

Saturday 3rd January 2015 – Manchester City v Bristol City (FA Cup Third Round)

Prior to the game, Manchester City and striker Lukas Podolski agreed to terminate his loan agreement and he has returned to the Emirates Stadium.

MCFC Starting XI – Forster, Sanfo, Kompany, Lescott, Ramon; Zurak, Barry, Humberto, Bale; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Hart, Zabaleta, Nastasic, Milner, Silva, Blanco, Biesmans

Bristol C Starting XI – Lillis, M Wilson, J Wilson, Fontaine, Cunningham; Adomah, Elliott, Skuse, Pearson; Baldock, Freeman SUBS – Brown, Burns, Kane, Davies, Bothroyd, Adeyemi, Ilesanmi

Champions of England Manchester City made very hard work of their Championship opponents and struggled massively to shrug them off. Despite taking a one goal lead, Bristol City pulled it back to 1-1 and when City raced into a 3-1 lead it looked over, but Barry missed a penalty and Bristol grabbed another to make it 3-2 and City fans looked a bit nervy but their side held out. In the 5th Round City will host Everton.

Final Score – Manchester City 3 (Lescott 20, Bale 74, Kompany 78) Bristol City 2 (Davies 72, 90)

MOTM – Joleon Lescott

Attendance – 41,189

Tuesday 6th January 2015 – Nottingham Forest v Manchester City (Capital One Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg)

MCFC Starting XI – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Nastasic, Clichy; Nasri, De Rossi, Milner, Nem; Sneijder; Cavani SUBS – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Toure, Zurak, Silva, Aguero

Forest Starting XI – Camp, Caddis, Lascelles, Williamson, Harding; Gosling, Davis, Gosling, McFadden; Cox, Blackstock SUBS – fon Williams, O’Shea, McManaman, Miller, Tipple, Pederson, Conway

A stunning first half performance has all but sent Manchester City into the Final of the Capital One Cup, and will give manager Georgi Kinkladze his first experience of a Wembley final. What will make City fans just as happy is a first goal since late November for striker Edinson Cavani and they will hope this will be the first of many in the second half of the season. The Final is likely to be an all-Manchester affair, as United won the first leg of the other Semi 4-0 against Stoke.

Final Score – Nottingham Forest 0 Manchester City 3 (Cavani 8, De Rossi 21, Nastasic 31)

MOTM – Raphael Varane

Attendance – 30,576
Close game against Bristol City there, but I'm sure we will be seeing you at Wembley for one final ;)
Great 1st leg win away to Forest :) This story has been amazing so far, simply amazing :)

Saturday 10th January 2015 – Queens Park Rangers v Manchester City (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Ramon; Nasri, Barry, Milner, Bale; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Richards, Varane, Toure, Nem, Sneijder, de Jong

QPR Starting XI – Julio Cesar, Bosingwa, Onuoha, Magri, Ferdinand; Hoilett, Ko, Livermore, Granero; Zamora, Balotelli SUBS – Larson, Ehmer, Troare, Park, Nouioui, Burgess, Emmanuel-Thomas

Manchester City nearly found themselves victim to an embarrassing draw but a late goal from Sergio Aguero, his first league goal since November, gave them all three points. Not quite as dramatic as his goal in the dying seconds of the final league game in 2012, but the three points were vital today and City got the win.

Final Score – Queens Park Rangers 1 (Zamora 83) Manchester City 2 (Nastasic 56, Aguero 88)

MOTM – Matija Nastasic

Attendance – 17,934

Tuesday 13th January 2015 – Manchester City v Arsenal (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy; Nasri, De Rossi, Toure, Nem; Sneijder; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Nastasic, Milner, Bale, Silva, Aguero

Arsenal Starting XI – Szczesney, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Armero; Holtby, Arteta; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Griezmann; Llorente SUBS – Fabianski, Dragovic, Verratti, Giroud, Mertesacker, Walcott, Krejci

Man City took control of the game in the first 10 minutes when they took a two goal lead and looked to be dominating the Arsenal side but Arsenal slowly grew into the game. With 15 minutes to go Arsenal grabbed a goal and City fans looked nervous and the team started to make mistakes, but Arsenal couldn’t take advantage of the first goal and City walk away with the three points. The only disappointing thing for City is that Sneijder broke his wrist and will miss 4-5 weeks.

Final Score – Manchester City 2 (Sneijder 3, Toure 11) Arsenal 1 (Llorente 78)

MOTM – Yaya Toure

Attendance – 47,405

Sunday 18th January 2015 – Liverpool v Manchester City (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Nasri, De Rossi, Toure, Nem; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Milner, Bale, Silva, de Jong

Liverpool Starting XI – Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Dawson, Agger; Garcia, Allen; Henderson, Gerrard, Assaidi; Suarez SUBS – Konigshofer, Johnson, Sterling, Ibe, Coates, Shelvey, Djuricic

Definitely not City’s best performance of the season but they battled hard against a strong Liverpool side and came away with a point. City fans would have taken this before the game and with the performance of the team they will have been more than happy to walk away with a point.

Final Score – Liverpool 1 (Gerrard 53) Manchester City 1 (Kompany 68)

MOTM – Joe Allen

Attendance – 45,276

Wednesday 21st January 2015 – Manchester City v Nottingham Forest (Capital One Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg)

MCFC Starting XI – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Lescott, Ramon; Zurak, Barry, Milner, Bale; Silva; de Jong SUBS – Hart, Nastasic, Toase, Toure, Nasri, Adryan, Matic

Forest Starting XI – Camp, Caddis, Lascelles, Williamson, Harding; Conway, Davis, Cohen, McFadden; Cox, Blackstock SUBS – fon Williams, Pitman, O’Shea, Debreceni, Miller, McManaman, McShane

Two first half goals from James Milner were enough to book Manchester City’s place in the Capital One Cup Final. It will be Kinkladze’s first domestic Cup final and a chance to add to his previous two triumphs at Wembley in Community Shields. In the Final City will face rivals Manchester United, after they defeated Stoke 7-0 on aggregate.

Final Score – Manchester City 2 (Milner 19, 44) Nottingham Forest 0
Manchester City win 5-0 on aggregate

MOTM – James Milner

Attendance – 47,405
