Prior to the game, Manchester City and striker Lukas Podolski agreed to terminate his loan agreement and he has returned to the Emirates Stadium.

Champions of England Manchester City made very hard work of their Championship opponents and struggled massively to shrug them off. Despite taking a one goal lead, Bristol City pulled it back to 1-1 and when City raced into a 3-1 lead it looked over, but Barry missed a penalty and Bristol grabbed another to make it 3-2 and City fans looked a bit nervy but their side held out. In the 5th Round City will host Everton.

Tuesday 6th January 2015 – Nottingham Forest v Manchester City (Capital One Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg)

A stunning first half performance has all but sent Manchester City into the Final of the Capital One Cup, and will give manager Georgi Kinkladze his first experience of a Wembley final. What will make City fans just as happy is a first goal since late November for striker Edinson Cavani and they will hope this will be the first of many in the second half of the season. The Final is likely to be an all-Manchester affair, as United won the first leg of the other Semi 4-0 against Stoke.
