Well, as we know Barca and Messi in particular are crap, so I had to it's been a great start to the season.

Matthaus: "This Could Be A Great Year"

Sporting CP manager Lothar Matthaus has told fans that he believes "this could be a great year for us". His Sporting team have already won two trophies this season, and will be hoping for at least two more to add to their collection under the German manager.

Speaking at a supporter's club meeting in Lisbon, Matthaus spoke of how he thinks the season could develop. "If you look at our Madrid and Barcelona games this season, it really will give a good indication about how it could go for us this season. They're the best two teams in the world, and we managed to come away from the games with two wins. I am struggling to believe Porto or Benfica could get even one win, let alone two. We managed to get a trophy from winning one of those games, which was our second of the season. If we keep playing the way we are, the title is ours... again."

Sporting also face more games against top teams, as they face games home and away to Italian giants Juventus in the group stages of the Champions League, as well as Turkish club Galatasary and Russian club Spartak Moscow.

Sporting Sign Machis

Sporting CP have signed Venezuelan striker Darwin Marchis on a free transfer. The 20-year-old will join at the start of the January transfer window on a 3-year deal. He can also play as a central attacking midfielder.

The former Granada player was released earlier in the season, after an unsuccessful second season in Spain. Last season he spent the year playing for Granada's B team, and netted 30 league goals in 43 games. At the start of this season he was moved into the senior team, but failed to make an impression, before being demoted back to the B team. He also failed to make an impression back there, and was subsequently released. The young striker has played 4 times for Venezuela, scoring twice.

Sporting are always looking for new young players to sign, and Marchis is the latest in a line of new signings. The striker will be on £7.5k p/w.

Looking great, hopefully the newbie will net as many as he scored at Granada B the 1sttome around. You deserve the fabulous win against Barca s well.
