AVTV Interviews: The Bald Brazilian Boy

In this exclusive monthly interview presented to you by AVTV, we interview the club's newest recruit - young Brazilian defender Doria.

How many clubs were interested in you, honestly?

Doria: Ah ... ha ha. Eu não sei, três, quatro? Havia ofertas da Áustria e da Rússia. (Ah... ha ha. I don't know, three, four? There were offers from Austria and Russia.)

And what made you decide to come to England instead?

(I think it's pretty obvious, it's every player's dream to play in the Premier League. The style of football here is fantastic and the opportunity to go up against some of Europe's best is just impossible to resist.)

Can you speak a language other than Portuguese?

(Unfortunately not but I want to learn English!)

What do you think of Aston Villa so far?

(A great club obviously. The style of football they play is good. We are in a bit of trouble right now but I'm confident we can stay in this league next season.)

How are your teammates helping you to settle in?

(It's helpful to have guys like Wellington Nem and Mattheus around because they're helping me a lot at the moment. They can't speak much English like me, but I am just glad there is local company.)

You have made two appearances for the club and have been playing so well. Are you delighted with your start?

Doria: Sim, é claro. (Yes, of course.)

What do you think of the manager, David Beckham, so far?

(A great, great guy, a legend, no doubt about that. It was an honor to be able to meet him, let alone being managed by him.)

What are you looking forward to?

(To be able to face Arsenal. That's the team I support.)

That is all for this month's AVTV interview.

February: Win, Loss, Draw

It has been a great first month for new Aston Villa boy Doria, who filled in the boots of injured captain Ron Vlaar to partner up alongside Ciaran Clark in defense. However, Aston Villa's fortunes this month are not so lucky - only able to get one win, one loss and one draw from three Premier League matches.

Doria capped off his amazing first month in a Villa shirt by winning the Premier League's Young Player of the Month award.

March: Up the Villans

It was a great month for David Beckham's side as they played some quality football to secure six points from Southampton and West Brom, losing narrowly to Chelsea 1-0 in between.

With Doria taking the Premier League by storm, Wellington Nem joins the South American newcomer on this month's Young Player of the Month.

Nem: The Next Villa Legend?

Former Aston Villa player & manager Brian Little has come out to the media to talk about Aston Villa's exciting young Brazilian, Wellington Nem.

"I think he can become the next Aston Villa legend," said Little, who is a fan favorite with Villa fans. "If he stays long enough, of course.

"He plays beautifully and I think he could make it at top clubs like Manchester United or Manchester City.

"It will be very difficult for Aston Villa and David Beckham to hold on to him but I hope they do. I can tell that he loves to play for the club so hopefully we'll be able to see Wellington Nem still in a Villa shirt 5 years later."

May: Epic End

It was a brilliant end to the season for Beckham's boys as they smashed Swansea and Queens Park Rangers. Despite narrowly securing a point from Stoke, it was still an unbeatable month for the Lions as they finished the season in 12th place. Not the best of seasons, but an unbelievable turnaround from the squad that was 19th in the Premier League during Christmas.

Delph: I owe it all to Becks

Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph has revealed that he owes his season's success to manager David Beckham.

The 23-year-old won the Premier League's Young Player of the Year, narrowly besting fellow Villa teammate Wellington Nem and Chelsea's Eden Hazard, who had to settle for runner-up positions.

Delph, who conjured up 8 goals and 10 assists within 27 appearances in the league, spoke to assembled journalists about his manager just after he was announced to be the winner of the award.

"David is fantastic," said Delph. "To be able to be working alongside a legend like him is already brilliant, but he's shown that he can be a top, top manager as well.

"He doesn't pressure you to score, and the only time he loses his temper with you is after a bad game. The day after that he'll be giving you a smiling face and all.

"I think the entire squad's benefited from that, myself included.

"I'm just glad that the board was not too impatient with him. If David had been sacked, I don't think I would have came up here to receive this award. David gave me a lot of chances to prove myself - something not other gaffers might have done."
I saw a highlight of the bald guy a.k.a. Doria
