It's unfair to say that Rennes focus too much on veterans. They produce the best regens of the game :P

Aragoneses sets retirement date

Sergio Aragoneses, current captain of the Liga Adelante leaders, has set a retirement date to end his career. This will take place at the end of the season. The player has endured 9 seasons at the Canary Islands based club and had a few things to say to the press. He said," The last two seasons have been a wild ride for me and the club as well! Though, it was hard to keep pace with it and after consulting it to my close friends and family and they agreed." When Aragoneses was questioned about current boss he only had good things to say. He said," Raul has been great. He took the club in a terrible position and we have improved our team and the finances as well. We consider us the veterans of the game and we teach the youngsters some things! We even got David frickin' Beckham on our team!" When the manager was asked about the feelings towards Aragoneses retirement, he did seem gloom. He said," Aragoneses is a great player. He's one of those under rated goalkeepers in the world. I see him like Gigi (Buffon) because he stayed at Tenerife during the rocky times and he is still here." He then added," I'd love to make him a permanent coach here at the club. If I could offer him a contract right now, I would. We will be discussing with him later during the final third of the season, who knows?"

Is a 13 point gap enough to win the league? ;)

Tenerife announce three departures

Tenerife have announced the departure of three players. Baltasar Rigo and Anthony Obodai have both been given free transfers after the manager decided that they were not needed. He said," Neither Rigo or Obodai will play as first team and it wouldn't be good for the club or for the team for them to be here wasting their time." He then added," I wish both Anthony and Baltasar luck in their future clubs. If they ever become staff, I'll will look at the possibility of signing them as staff." Rigo and Obodai had something to say to their former boss and said," Raul was great, and I requested him to terminate my contract. I don't want to occupy a space and it was for the best at the club and for us." Obodai added to what his former team-mate by saying," Since we both are close, we might be signing at the same club. Whatever happens tomorrow or the next week I'll keep in touch with Baltasar (Rigo)." However, the other player that left was Raul Llorente who was the first left-back the previous season. Raul Llorente will now wear a white and black shirt, as he joined Cartagena, who are in 20th position, four points from safety. Llorente, who's replacement was recent signing Cisma, was pleased with his transfer. He said," I am disappointed to leave Tenerife, but I need to play regularly. Del Horno and Cisma have been exchanging the left back position recently and I just needed a change." Raul commented about the transfer and he said," The recent transfer of Llorente eased the finances that the club has been going throughout the years." He later said," I think that the club will be out of debt and in a healthy position by June or August." This might've hinted that Tenerife will be promoted to the Liga BBVA, the division that they haven't been over 5 years.

Anthony Obodai
