Mike Phelan Sacked!

Malcolm Glazer has shocked football fans across the world today after he decided to sack Assistant Manager Mike Phelan. It us understood David Moyes wasn't too keen on the move, liking the style and tactical knowledge of Phelan, but had no control and power over the situation and the sacking of the Englishman half way through the season.

Mike Phelan played for Manchester United from 1989-1994, playing over 100 times. During his career at United, he managed to win the FA Cup, Community Shield, League Cup, European Cup Winners Cup and the Premier League. After leaving for West Brom, he continued to Old Trafford as a coach, joining in 2001. He coached for 7 years, until being given the role of Sir Alex Ferguson's Assistant Manager in September 2008, after the sacking of Carlos Quieroz.

Since taking over as Assistant Manager, Phelan managed to win the Club World Championship, Capital One Cup and the Premier League under the reign of Sir Alex. When Moyes took away, despite rumours he would bring in his staff, made no changes, trusting Phelan and wanting him to say. Moyes had expressed his sadness at Mike leaving and wished him all the best for the future.

Many bookies are guessing who will help out David Moyes as his assistant. Favourites include Mauro Tossotti, AC Milan's assistant, Steve Bould, the current Arsenal assistant, Moyes assistant at Everton Steve Round and clubless Italian Bruno Demichelis
Haha Phelan :))
It's alright, no one knows who he is anyway :P
2013-05-17 16:06#101859 Devil. :
Who the f*ck is he?
Louis O.: And that's why he was sacked... and because he's awful at team talks :P

Blue: Yeah, not like everyone knows the City one. ;)

Arvind: I searched all staff profiles and can't find him!! :/

Mauro Tassotti Becomes Assistant

Mauro Tassotti has been announced as the new Assistant Manager who will work alongside David Moyes at Manchester United. Following the sacking of Mike Phelan, the club searched through many potential candidates to find the AC Milan Assistant as the best one. AC Milan have also been paid £275k compensation, with Mauro still having three years left on his contract.

Tassotti has a continental reputation, to go alongside his Continental Pro License. He had an excellent playing career with Milan in the 1980's and 1990's that lasted almost 20 years. Besides his first two years at Lazio, Mauro played his whole career with the red and blacks, where he managed to play 429 times for Milan, scoring 8 times. Mauro played mainly as a right back, but could play any defensive position. He then rotated between coach and assistant manager, before solidifying his role next to the manager in 2002, lasting 10 years before the move to Manchester.

The 52 year old Italian has become known for his defensive coaching and level of discipline, but also his man management, motivating and determination. Nevertheless, his key strength is seen by many as tactical knowledge, being called one of the best in the world.

Mauro Tassotti will be on £13,000 per week in a deal lasting until June 2015.
He's a really good assistant :) hope he succeeds for you!
Blue: I hope so, Phelan was awful!

Ooh, my new assistant also became the 200th post! ;)

November 2012 Results Part 2

After a successful Part 1 to November, hopefully Part 2 will be just as good. Only three games to play, but the Quarter Final of the Capital One Cup against Newcastle will be massive, especially after our recent 1-1 draw earlier this month.

Galatasary SK 0-0 Manchester United

Wed. 21st November 2012 - UEFA Champions League Grp C - Ali Sami Arena - Att. 52,695

United Starting XI - De Gea, Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic, Rafael, Scholes, Cleverley, Carrick, Kagawa, Hernandez, Fierro SUBS - Lindegaard, Evans, Fellaini, Giggs, van Persie, Lewandowski, Rooney

SUBS - None

GOALS - None

MOTM - Rio Ferdinand

A draw isn't the best result, but we still got a point while resting some key players, and away from home. I was never expected a lot of goals, only one or two at most, missing Fellaini, van Persie, Lewandowski and Rooney. This should help in the next few weeks though, when it really matters in the league. We definitely dominated the play, which helped alot even if we didn't score.

Manchester United 3-1 Southampton

Saturday 24th November2012 - Barclays Premier League - Old Trafford - Att. 74,395

United Starting XI - De Gea, Smalling, Vidic, Evans, Rafael, Fellaini, Jones, Kagawa, Rooney, van Persie, Lewandowski SUBS - Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Carrick, Giggs, Hernandez, Fierro, Scholes

SUBS - None

GOALS - Vidic (50) van Persie (54) Lewandowski (87)

MOTM - Wayne Rooney

After going 1-0 down just before half time, I thought this could go Southampton's way, but a brilliant half time team talk from the new assistant manager set the players roaring and ready to go, managing to get three goals to get the three points. I'm very happy with the second half performance, although it was a shame we didn't get any Fergie Time.

Newcaste United 0-1 Manchester United

Wednesday 28th November 2012 - Capital One Cup Qtr Final - St James Park - Att. 52,405

United Starting XI - De Gea, Smalling, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evans, Fellaini, Kagawa, Carrick, Rooney, Lewandowksi, Hernandez SUBS - Lindegaard, Rafael, Jones, Giggs, Cleverley, Fierro, Scholes

SUBS - None

GOALS - Rooney (28)

MOTM - Rio Ferdinand

We're in the semis! Rooney set us up nicely to play a very defensive hour, but we were unlucky to have Lewandowksi ruled offside after a 90th minute finish. Rio Ferdinand had another good game topping off a good month, and now I can't wait for the draw and the semi-final. I really feel we could go all the way now, and maybe win the cup for the first time under Moyes!

League Table

Still coming for City. However, City have some tough games coming up, including us as the next Premier League game, which will be massive. We've done well to say close to them, and our goal difference is slowly improving. Norwich are doing surprisingly well, which is good to see, as are Southampton.

Player of the Month

Rio Ferdinand. Rio Ferdinand has had another great month following his new contract. He got man of the match against Galatasary, with a brilliant rating of 9.0, helping keep a clean sheet. Although he couldn't play against Southampton, he came back for the Newcastle game and got the man of the match award again, with a rating of 8.8, and another clean sheet!
Nice couple of results there! :)
Things just seem to be getting better and better for you. A great signing as assistant manager...possibly the best on the game! I am so tempted to adopt the way you post match updates but I don't think I would have the patience.
Blue: Thanks buddy. :)

Jamesg237: Thanks, I hope he turns out well. I wasn't totally sure on him, but stats looked good, so worth a try. Phelan was crap! So glad you like the update. Patience is key, every monthly updates takes about an hour to complete, so does take a while. :/

James Wilson Signs Contract

James Wilson has become the second player to sign a professional contract with Manchester United under the reign of David Moyes. Wilson was given the contract as soon as he turned 17, making him unavailable for others teams to buy for free, or a minimal fee.

Wilson began his career as a Red Devil as a schoolboy, and was scouted by Manchester United at the age of just seven. The striker then developed with the club into the player he is today, and the Englishman is expected to line up for Manchester United on a regular basis soon, also being a potential England star.

James Wilson is yet to receive a cap for the first side, but is regularly featuring as a key striker for the Under-18 squad, while making appearances in the Reserve side whenever possible. Wilson has been called the next Michael Owen, being praised by many football players and pundits across the country.

The striker will recieve around £300 per week in a contract lasting two years, but may be extended at a later date.

Meanwhile, in other news, Swansea have sacked manager Michael Laudrup and West Ham have sacked Sam Allardyce.
Should be interesting to see how his career progresses :)
Blue: I hope so, he has a 3 star potential. Also, do you like the team he scored against in the picture?
