United Feature In Awards Night

The very best of the best were shown last night, with the annual Player of the Year bash in Stockholm, Sweden. Players from all around the world were nominated for many different awards, with a few Manchester United players lined up as a potential winner. Sir Alex Ferguson attended the night, receiving an award for his Services to Football, followed by a clip on the success he had as a manager of United for 25 magnificent years.

The first award was the World Golden Ball. In third place, Carlos Tevez, of Manchester City. Second place, former United star Cristiano Ronaldo, meaning Lionel Messi, the Barcelona great and tipped the others to win, so far scoring 15 goals in 29 games, with an average rating of 8.15. However, Messi didn't beat Ronaldo on the night, as the wing wizard won the biggest award of the night, the World Player of the Year, with Tevez taking second place and Messi in third.

The next award was the World Team of the Year, featuring a Manchester United player. The team lined up as followed: Casillas (Madrid), Marcelo (Madrid), Kompany (City), Vidic (United), Zanetti (Inter), Xavi (Barca), Tevez (City), Ribery (Munich), Ozil (Madrid), Ronaldo (Madrid), Messi (Barca). Real Madrid seemed to have stormed the Team of the Year, with a magnificent four players featuring, with Manchester City also having two. Rio Ferdinand made the bench of the team, but couldn't beat Kompany to a place in the eleven.

The Asian Player of the Year award when to CSKA Moscow's, with Shinji Kagawa coming a close second. Shinji may have only made the move to Manchester recently, but has settled in well, and if he carries on, could well be the winner next year. Younis Mahmoud took third. The European Golden Boy only had a first place, James Rodriguez of FC Porto.

The South American Footballer of the Year award wasn't a contest, with Neymar storming the line. Ronaldinho Gaucho came second and Alex in third, but were both a long way away from the Santos winger.

Elsewhere, Robert Lewandowski won the Polish Footballer of the Year Award, Wayne Rooney won the English Footballer of the Year Award, and Marouane Fellaini won the Belgium Footballer of the Year Award. Robin van Persie lost out in the Dutch awards, finishing second to Arjen Robben. Fellow Dutchman Alexander Buttner won Best Young Dutch Footballer of the Year for his recent performances for both club and country.
Some great stuff here, really fleshing out the FM experience :) Sam Johnstone for the win, he has been a rock in my net on my save... although starting to moan a bit now he isn't number 1 anymore ;)
Woah some surprise winners there like Buttner. Nice update Kane
Carlos Tevez at 3rd :))

Great update Kane! Brilliant as always!
ziechael: Fleshing it FTW! ;) Wanting to send him on loan now to get some experience!

k1rups: Shush, don't tell anyone, I made up the last paragraph, wanted to make the club sound good, but keep it quiet! :P

Glenn T: I don't know, what's happened, he's playing as a CM! Thanks :P

December 2012 Results Part 2

Most of the tough games are out the way, but let's end the year on a high! We're still chasing rivals City to the top, so hopefully we can close, or at least narrow, the gap between us. We should be able to win most games this month too!

Liverpool FC 0-0 Manchester United

Wednesday 19th December 2012 - Barclays Premier League - Anfield - Att. 45,276

United Starting XI - De Gea, Smalling, Evans, Vidic, Rafael, Fellaini, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa, Lewandowski, van Persie SUBS - Adan, Ferdinand, Fierro, Giggs, Welbeck, Jones, Hernandez

SUBS - Giggs, Hernandez

GOALS - van Persie (46)

MOTM - Jonny Evans

Not a bad result. Taking a point at Anfield is always a struggle for Manchester United, so I'm glad we did it. And to make the point a million times better, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard decided to miss a penalty... in the 88th minute! It's great to see Jonny Evans have a good game, his season really starts to be kicking in now. Hopefully we can avoid defeat for the rest of the month now!

Manchester United 2-0 West Bromwich Albion

Saturday 22nd December 2012 - Barclays Premier League - Old Trafford - Att. 74,303

United Starting XI - Adan, Jones, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evans, Fellaini, Kagawa, Carrick, Rooney, van Persie, Lewandowski SUBS - De Gea, Rafael, Fierro, Giggs, Welbeck, Smalling, Hernandez

SUBS - None

GOALS - van Persie (42) Vidic (69)

MOTM - Jonny Evans

Jonny Evans has done it again, on great form and gets man of the match for two weeks running. He assisted both goals to help get us the three points, over a team who have been on good form recently. An easy win for the boys, and hopefully the form can carry on. Great to see Vidic grabbing another goal too, he's getting a few lately!

Reading FC 1-2 Manchester United

Wednesday 26th December 2012 - Barclays Premier League - Majedski Stadium - Att. 24,161

United Starting XI - De Gea, Smalling, Evans, Vidic, Rafael, Fellaini, Giggs, Kagawa, Rooney, Lewandowksi, van Persie SUBS - Adan, Ferdinand, Fierro, Carrick, Welbeck, Jones, Hernandez

SUBS - Jones

GOALS - Lewandowski (57) Smalling (85)

INJURIES - Giggs (Strained Knee Ligaments, 5-6 weeks)

MOTM - Jonny Evans

Jonny! Super Jonny! can be heard every week now, as Jonny Evans becomes Man of the Match for the third week running. He got another assist for Lewandowski's late goal, and almost scored the second hitting the post before it fell to Smalling! Another three points, even if we did leave it late. Reading are a side I don't like playing, so I'm happy we've taken maximum points.

Stoke City 1-2 Manchester United

Saturday 29th December 2012 - Barclays Premier League - Britannia Stadium - Att. 27,740

United Starting XI - De Gea, Smalling, Evans, Ferdinand, Rafael, Fellaini, Kagawa, Carrick, Rooney, Lewandowksi, van Persie SUBS - Adan, Vidic, Jones, Fierro, Welbeck, Hernandez

SUBS - Jones, Hernandez, Fierro

GOALS - Rooney (11) Lewandowski (89)

MOTM - Charlie Adam

Leaving it late for a second week, this time Lewy scoring. We almost got a goal in Fergie Time, something we are determined, but yet, to achieve. Nevertheless, yet another three points, to really put the pressure onto City now. Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney were the highest rated United players, followed by Robert Lewandowski and surprise, surprise, Jonny Evans.

League Table

Finally the gap is closed! We are equal on points with Manchester City, and have exactly the same Win-Draw-Loss ratio, the only difference between goal difference. Our goal difference hasn't been great, but we can find that extra win to put us top! I'm still shocked at how Swansea are doing though, and Norwich!

Player of the Month

Jonny Evans. There's no one who could question this. Man of the match twice, and being one of the best players in the other games can't go unnoticed. He may not have scored, but he's set up some vital goals, the difference between us being level or City being ahead. Hopefully Evans can continue, with fellow defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic also having great months. It's a hard decision on who to start now.
very nice mate keep going :D
Clawed your way back to match City! Now you got to beat them to the title! Evans churning in good performances is a good sign

Jonny Evans has never failed for me on any FM game I have had him, and he seems to be doing the business for you too :D
Zogra: Thanks pal!

k1rups: We have to get on top now though! Thanks for yet another comment, I love you for this :P

Louis O.: I've never liked Evans, but he's pretty good. I've always sold him before and got like £15-20 million for him, but now I see why they buy him! ;)
