Manchester United To Play FC Barcelona

Following the draw for the UEFA Champions League Draw 1st Knockout Round, with 16 teams left in the competition, Moyes and co. found out they would face a trip to Barcelona to play the Spanish giants. Manchester United were drawn as the very first team out of the pots, taking the home advantage into the first leg. With 15 teams to possibly face, the Devils could have got teams such as Anderlecht, Basel or Lille. Unfortunately, they drew the 4 times Champions League winners, FC Barcelona.

The first leg will be played on the 13th February at Old Trafford, and the game is expected to be the one of the biggest this year, with tickets already sold out for both the home and away fixture. United will go into the game in a good position, currently sitting second in the league, and doing well in other cup competitions. However, David Moyes won't have faced a team at the level of FC Barcelona, in what could be his biggest game this season.

Moyes has also been linked with Barcelona youngster Thiago, currently valued at £11.25 million, so if rumours are true, David will certainly being using these two games to check him out. Reports from The Sun and Manchester Sports newspapers also linked United with left back Adriano, after the sudden departure of vice-captain Patrice Evra, before the announcement of Leighton Baines. However, Adriano has since moved on to Juventus, for £9.5 million.

Tito Vilanova and his side are currently second in the Liga BBVA, 5 points behind unbeaten Real Madrid after 16 games. FC Barcelona have lost 5 of those games though, including a 3-1 defeat, which will certainly give David Moyes hope. Barca, as they are commonly known, also make a quick exit from the Spanish cup, losing on penalties to Valladoid, a side fighting for relegation.

FC Barcelona have gone into the competition as favourites, with Manchester United in third, just behind Real Madrid, so the 13th February is a date everyone needs to have free for this!
That is not an easy draw but you have a good squad and a good chance if you can hold on to a clean sheet at home or even Barcelona getting 1 away goal. You'll score at the Nou Camp so its a tough one but good luck!

Ooooo. Tough Draw. Barcelona will be wanting to avenge their domestic wounds on you. On the flip side, your Manchester United! Not just any club ;)

Rooney: "We Will Go All The Way"

Fan favourite Wayne Rooney has today spoken about the upcoming fixture between Manchester United and FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, saying he knew the club had the ability to go all the way and lift the trophy for a fourth time. Although Barcelona will go into the game as favourites, many fans and players feel they can cause an upset, and then go on and defeat everyone else in order to get their hands on the coveted trophy.

Wayne was asked about the possibility of him leaving in the January transfer window, with Moyes often preferring Kagawa in the attacking midfield position. However, Rooney denied all links to other clubs, saying he loved the club and wanted to stay for many years. The 27 year old then went on to say:

"When we found out about the draw, we were a bit disappointed. We drew the short straw, and got an excellent team. But we are an excellent team too, and if we beat Barcelona, which we can, we can beat anyone. We can do this for Fergie, and win it again. We want to catch up with Liverpool in the next 10 years, which means we win it twice. We definitely can, and Liverpool are slipping slowly. All the boys can't wait for the game."

Wayne Rooney has so far played 18 years for the reds this year, and wants to get on the starting XI for both games, to try and clinch a vital goal, after being part of the team that lost to Barcelona in the 2011 UEFA Champions League Final, with Wayne scoring Manchester's only goal in the 3-1 defeat.
Great update once again Devil!

Christmas Party Drama!

It will certainly be an eventful day at Carrington Training Ground today. Following the recent Christmas party for Manchester United players and staff, many fines, warnings, and even bans were given out the next day. The players all went out together into Manchester, hitting the towns finest bars, clubs, and even wine bars for a select few, where havoc was caused.

Dutch duo Alexander Buttner and Robin van Persie were seen in a wine bar, with three unknown women, and it has been reported that the bill totaled an estimated £30,000. David Moyes had a word with the players about the unprofessional view they took on the night, being role models and assets to the clubs, but both players accepted the warning and realised their actions were unneeded. Buttner later took to twitter to apologize to all fans, as well as David Moyes.

Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick were all seen out in town, and Welbeck later recieved a fine, for jumping into a taxi and driving to Manchester City's Etihad stadium, followed by running around the stadium singing chants often sung by the Manchester United fans.

Meanwhile, reserve stars Adnan Januzaj and Sam Johnstone both decided to leave early on, with a picture on twitter posted by Sam showing the two playing FIFA with a pizza and beers. Most Manchester United fans, and staff, saw the funny side of things, but Scot David Moyes had to be professional and speak to the boys when needed.

A few fans from both United and other teams used social networking sites and blogs to express their views on the matter, but most realised it was just a bit of fun at Christmas. Manchester United now have just two days to prepare to prepare for the game against West Brom, their final game before Christmas.
Danny Welbeck is such a legend :))

Robin van Persie seen with three women? But he has a wife! Cheeky ;)

Great update Kane!

Haha I will always read every update :P Adnan and Sam being a bit lame leaving early?

Glenn T: I seriously want someone to do a Welbeck now.. RVP may not be to blame, Alexander Buttner could be taking all three! Thanks pal ;)

k1rups: I need a separate page to just reply to you now. Adnan's only 17, just a bit of a lightweight.. :P
Your draw isn't that bad devil. All you need is a legendary midfielder to score a 30 yard stunner in front of the Old Traford Faithful :P
