Another great month for The Posh picking up 4 wins and 2 draws and an FA Cup first round win against Plymouth. We are still battling with Bristol City for first place but, following their unbeaten run coming to an end. We could still take the title and Joe Newell is our superstar that could make it happen.

Up The Posh!

Player of the Month

Joe Newell

http://i41.tinypic.com/2zfsfly.jpg

Joe Newell has really been stepping up for us these last couple of months. After expressing his desire to leave the club without first team football. I considered loaning him out so he could age and improve. However, Posh legend George Boyd, hasn't been up to the challenge this season and I decided to give Joe the shot he was wanting.

He has achieved 4 goals this month (6 in 2 months) as an attacking winger with an average rating of 7.26. Compared to George Boyd's 4 goals all season and an average rating of 7.02.
Fantastic couple of results mate.

I actually brought Joe Newell to Malaga in one of my FM12 saves. It seems he's doing well in FM13 too :P

Keep going with this! It's great :D

We are proving that we are wanting promotion more than any club and I think we will soon be overtaking Bristol City in a comfortable position. We have gained 5 wins and 1 draw in the league this month along with 2 competition wins in Johnstone's Paint Trophy and The Fa Cup.

We are sitting at the top of the table 2 points above Bristol City. They still have a game in hand on us.

Player of the Month

Michael Bostwick

http://i40.tinypic.com/vzbifb.jpg

Michael Bostwick wins player of the month yet again. He has proven that he has the quality and picking up approximately 3 man of the match accolades every month, he is proving he is one of the best players at the club.

He has an average rating of 7.87 and will certainly be signing a new contract soon.

If Bostie keeps it up he may even be picking up captaincy.
Your updates are actually fantastic. So much detail :D Amazing performances in the league.Keep it up! Peterborough to the Prem? ;)

January Transfer Window

Transfers Out

George Boyd and Mark Little are the two faces to leave Peterborough United during the mid-season transfer window.

George Boyd has been a superstar for The Posh over the years but due to his recent poor form, he has been replaced by attacking midfielder wonderkid Joe Newell. Darren Ferguson has said that it's time for younger players to make their mark for The Posh.

'George Boyd had been an iconic player for us but his job is done and he is looking forwards to directing his efforts to his new club, Nottingham Forrest. Joe Newell will be filling the role, who is more than capable of far exceeding what George Boyd could. His recent performances has shown this to both us and our fans.'

Mark Little has been expressing his desire to leave since the beginning of the season due to his wish to play first team football.

'Mark is a fantastic lad and I'm sorry to see him leave the club. Unfortunately I had him as a back up player and he felt that his talents were being wasted. I promised him I would find him a new club and there are no hard feelings between the two of us. I wish him the best of luck at Ipswich.'

New Faces for The Posh

Goalkeeper Jed Steer has joined joined Richard Chaplow on the loan list at Peterborough. He has joined from Norwich City until the end of the season with Norwich still paying 100% of the young players wages.

Their are rumours of some incentive to sign Steer at the end of the season. Whether or not this is true is unconfirmed.

Davide Petrucci has put pen to paper and joined The Posh on a more permanent basis following his previous loan. The attacking midfielder is said to be ecstatic that Ferguson made a move for him and has expressed his love for the club.

He has signed a deal worth 600K over 24 months and is contracted until June 2016.

Davide Petrucci was not the only youngster from Manchester United to sign a contract with Peterborough United this January.

Winger Jesse Lingard also signed a contract until June 2016 on a deal worth 575K over 24 months. He is also ecstatic to join first team football and play alongside his attacking partner Petrucci.

Following Mark Little's desire to leave The Posh. Scunthorpe's Eddie Nolan has been brought in on a free transfer for backup to right back Craig Alcock.

Nolan is happy to accept back up football and is pleased he was able to sign a deal with Peterborough United due to their performance in npower's League 1.

Other Posh News

Posh superstar Lee Tomlin has been said to step up in place of Tyrone Barnett and Dwight Gayle as their starting striker. Tomlin is known to be one of Posh's better attacking players and due to recent transfers and formation changes, his midfield position has been filled.

Lee Tomlin said to the press,

'It a great feeling that the boss is giving me the opportunity to show I have the quality up front. I've been working very hard over the last couple of seasons as a striker and the extra training has paid off. I'm ready to go out there and show what I can do.'
