Gaining Trust

Due to an injury to star striker Antonio Alves, I was forced into making a choice. I had three options for the replacement for him. I decided on Ibrahima Baldé, who had been largely inconsistent over the past season and a half. How he proved me wrong. Goal after goal after goal meant Baldé was our top scorer. Finally, he had found some form, and he went into the match versus FC Penafiel as the striker.

Penafiel took an early lead in the match, and we couldn't claw our way back. Baldé was not in. A scoring mood and with 15 minutes on the clock things were looking gloomy for us. The striker I had put on the bench was youngster Hugo, who had never had sufficient time to make an impact. So I made the choice to se d him on. He was capable of playing as a striker, but could also play attacking midfield, where I had mainly played him.

I sent him on with 15 minutes to go, and what an impact he had. Firstly, he scored a goal to equalize in the 82nd minute, before nodding home Mauricio Vaschetto's cross in the 85th minute to give us all three points. Up until this point I had never really had full trust in what Hugo could do, but now I knew that he was worthy of a starting place, and he had certaintly gained my trust.
It's always nice to see a player you lost trust in be forced back into the squad and finally turn on his form again.

Wow, what a way to introduce yourself. You must have been very pleased that your change worked out.

Season Two: February

In February, we stuttered and started, and eventually lost our place at the top of the table. First up were early leaders CD Feirense. We went their with good form on our backs, I was shocked when they hit two past us. Luckily, next we had Braga B, who were rock bottom of the table, and we went out dominated from kick off, coming home with three points in the bag and plus three goal difference. Next was CD Aves and we escaped with a point after some hard work. Ibrahima Balde has been our best player scoring goal after goal. To round it off we went to União Madeira and were very unlucky. To be fair, our poor finishing cost us, but we didn;t have much luck.

League Table

After Gil Vicente's brilliant form we drop down to 5th, and they take our position of fourth. It is now an uphill battle with timing not on our side. Hopefully we can do it, but we need to get our form in tact, otherwise we're out of it. Mind you, all the top five teams are extremely close in terms of points and goal difference, so it could go anywhere.
Not a great month! However still a fantastic story!

Unlucky there. However, just as quick as your results changed there, they can change again for the better

Ouch, that is a disgusting set of results :/ Hopefully the team will come up big when you need it most :)
