Season Two: April

March had passed and April approached, how would we fare this month? In all honesty, it was a topsy turvy month with one win, one draw and a loss in a short month. This month, I think promotion honestly might have slipped out of our grasp.

The month started with a match at home against FC Porto' B Team. We eased through the game comfortable with a 3-0 victory. Then two weeks later we travelled to Leixoes SC and should've got a better result than the 1-1 draw we did get. To finish off the month we hosted league leaders Vitoria Setubal but it wasn't to be a repeat of what happened last time as they crushed us 3-0 to send us further down the table.

League Table

With one month remaining, our title hopes are over, but we can still maybe snatch a promotion place. Vitoria Setubal have all but secured promotion, so it is up to Gil Vicente and UD Oliveirense to slip up and allow us to get through.
Just caught up with the story again.
Some very impressive results in the second division and still a quality read.

Two teams get promoted. No play offs or anything like that.
Unlucky against Leixoes. A tough team in real life to play away from home against. Setubal would obviously be tough, being more or less Liga Zon quality and top of the league. Still 4 games left am I correct? If so, there is still hope of promotion. Congrats with the views!!! You deserve it mate. Your story is booming :D

Thanks and yeah they are. Setubal are quality, but what is weird is their top scorer is a 16 year old who I tried to sign from them earlier and yeah you're right. Thanks mate :D It's going really well!
Strange month :P Win 3-0 draw then lose 3-0 :P Great story and congrats on 10k

One More Month

The last month of our second season approached, and we needed to win all our remaining games to withstand any chance of catching up to Vitoria Setubal and Gil Vicente, who were fast tracking themselves to promotion.

The last month included games against Gil Vicente, a must win, SC Freamunde, Naval and finally UD Oliveirense. The last game of the month may just decided who gets promoted in second place, as they are in third and we are in fourth.

This is what the table looked like currently, making promotion even tougher. If we were going to leapfrog the two teams ahead of us, we would have to beat them and then rely on results in other matches, stacking the odds against us.

Vitoria Setubal were five points ahead of Gil Vicente, who were five points ahead of us, but I was not ready to give in. If we were ever going to get into the Liga Zon Sagres, we were going to have to be confident, otherwise we would get nowhere.

I was prepared for the month, and the players had to too. I fielded a team meeting for the final few games and told the team to push on, and that anything was possible. But even I was wondering how we would fair in the end of it.

Just read through this story and it's amazing. Best of luck with the remains of this season, you have yourself another follower!

Thank you, it's the same idea as your Paris FC, except with Sporting/Benfica :) Thank you and I'm really glad you are!

New Boys On The Block?

As the final month of the Segunda Divisão approaches, many are wondering whether we could be seeing a new Lisbon outfit in the Liga Zon Sagres next season. Oriental have made a brilliant start to life in the second division of Portuguese football, and they might be making another step up shortly.

Unknown manager Vitor Martins took over the club whilst they languished as a mediocre third division team. Martins, however, turned them into a title-winning side as they raced to the title of the Second Division - South. They then won the third division shortly after.

Many predicted the Lisbon team to struggle with life in the Segunda Divisão, just like fellow promoted teams Pampilhosa and AD Fafe. But after a shaky start, Oriental found their feet and made a huge run towards the promotion places. At one stage they found themselves on top of the table.

After a small blip in form though, Oriental slipped up and now find themselves in fourth, and need to win all remaining games to secure promotion which would give them entry int PI the promised land of the Liga Zon Sagres. Many think that after defeating S.C Olhanense in the Taça de Portugal, that they can stay up if they are to be promoted.
Nice update :P
