Phelan's View: Expectations
Club: Millwall F.C.
Last Season: 20th
Predicted: 20th
Key Player: Steve Morison
I have made some signings and with pre-season approaching, we look good. I was quick to tweak Kenny's tactics which were fine. The players just need to improve their positioning and maybe their movement and then I don't see why we can't settle for a mid-table finish like John (Berylson) expects.
Steve Morison and
Andrew Keogh showed encouraging signs upfront scoring all five goals against the reserves between them.
Danny Shittu and
Paul Robinson look comfortable in defence together with some good full-backs beside them in Lowry and Dunne.
Liam Trotter and
Najim Abdou will be my first choice in the middle of the park but we will have to find some backups because
Josh Wright can't do that all on his own. Out wide on the left I have stuck
Liam Feeney and
James Henry on the right. Henry will be key to our season with his movement on the right wing.
Overall, what Kenny did well is get the team working as a unit. A team of amazing individuals is no match for an average
team. Our players might not have the most amazing technical skills but we make up for that in determination and hard work. It may not be pretty, but it works.
