April

After all the champagne in the dressing room last night I barely got to my press conference and I woke up very late this morning. I had to check the league table once more to convince myself this wasn't a wild dream.

I checked over the three fixtures which took place in April, a 1-0 win over Pinhalvonense, which we scraped through. A tough but good 0-0 draw against Sertanense and then finally we were promoted after a 3-1 win at AD Oeiras. Even if we had of drawn on the final day, we would have been promoted, because CD Fatima drew also.

In the end we finished 5 points clear and go into the Second Phase of the Terceira Divisão, which is the champions of the North, Central and South Championships. We would be facing Pampilhosa and AD Fafe. I didn't have any interest in that whatsoever, it was just to decided who was champion of all three divisions.

Liga Zon Sagres
Champions: Benfica
Runners Up: FC Porto

Taca Portugal

Under new manager Manuel Pellegrini, Sporting CP finally got some success and finished fourth this season in the LZS. The cup win was the icing on the cake for Sporting fans, as they beat Vitoria S.C 2-0 to triumph.
Yay! Now to play against some teams I may have actually heard of :P

Hahaha :P Yeah, there is all the big teams B Teams in the Segunda Divisão (Benfica, Porto Sporting and Braga's B teams are all in the league :( )

The Second Phase

The Terceira Division is divided into three divisions: North, Central, South. The winner of each division goes into the Second Phase, and whoever wins becomes the 'champion' of the whole division.

As winners of the South division, we were up against Pampilhosa (North) and AD Fafe (Central). Each team plays eachother twice. I wasn't taking this seriously as we had already been promoted so it was really pointless.

But even though I didn't care, we wiped the floor. We annihalated everyone else in the group, by 3 goals in every game. The team was obviously no match for us or we were in good form.

For winning this we actually won the whole third division, a remarkable achievment and hopefully we can continue this success in the Segunda Divisão, but we need to improve the squad in the of season.

Good Luck in the Segundo Division! :D

Going Pro

I had reclaimed my baggage and hired a taxi, and been whisked away to my tropical bungalow on the shores of Barbados. I opened the door to the house which was shaded by large palm trees that hung over it, and put all my luggage in the bedroom.

I walked over to the balcony over looking the beach. I enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine, with all the tropical colours and fruits. Good way to clear the mind.

If I had any idea of 'clearing the mind', in the holidays, they were quashed the second I arrived, as my phone started vibrating in my pocket.

I sighed and sat down on one of the chairs on the balcony and answered the call. I asked who it was and Jose Nabais replied on the end of the phone. He told me that there was great news for the club.

At first I was pessimistic. Nabais rarely got involved and I doubted his actual knowledge of the game, but I listened anyway.

The two words at the end of his sentence shocked me, and I couldn't believe it. "The club is going professional!" Those words I will always remember, one of the best days of my time at the club, even if I was on vacation.

The only downside meant I had to cut short my tropical holiday in order to return to Lisbon and put all the staff onto full time contracts. Most of the staff I wouldn't be keeping anyway. Improvments could be made in every area, and they had to, too.

Still, I relaxed in the Caribbean sun for the next couple of days, taking football out of my mind for the first time in a while.

Tropical villa on the shores of Barbados??

Sure must pay a LOT better to manage in the lower Portuguese leagues then what you can make in Spain.
Congratulation on going pro. Will enjoy seeing the LIGA Orangina logo in every update. :D
