Tactics

There is the saying, why fix something that isn't broken. And that is the mentality I would be taking into this season in terms of tactics.

After we won the league with a simple, direct tactic, I decided to not change anything except a couple of player roles.

Sufrim and Condesso were excellent last season, so were Antonio and Alves. The new defensive partnership of Tero and Monteiro hopefully had the same impact.

Pedro Alves remained first choice, but youngster Bruno Martins will be joining on January 1 after being released by Braga B.

Basso only holds the right back position because of Moisao's horrible training levels, and youngster Herlander Bengue takes the right midfield spot over Taroco and Tiago Mota.

Tiago Duque could well jump over Tero if he performs well in training, and game time will definately help his developement.

I like to play more direct passing, and to stand off opponents, which worked very well last season. We let other teams try and break us down.

This is not the normal starting lineup, this is just the formation I play.
Interesting tactics, how do you think it will go in the segunda divisao?

Well I know how it goes :P I will update further about how they work.

It is a very simple tactic, doesn't require a lot of false strikers and what not just gets them playing to the best of their abilities. thanks for reading edu :)

2500 Views!

I have officially passed 2500 Views! I'm really glad so many people are reading it and it has definately been my best save yet! More updates will come because I have recovered from my FM Burnout, hope you continue to read and comment! :D

Pre Season

We went into pre season with only two friendlies, one against Barreirense and new parent club SC Beira Mar. Barreirense I expected a win and SC Beira Mar was about the fitness.

We enjoyed a good pre season, and the new signings looked good. It started off with a thrashing of FC Barreirense. The final result was 7-2, but that was only because they got two late goals in the last 15 minutes or so.

New signing Tiago Duque got us off to a flying start in the 6th minute, Tiago Mota and Antonio Alves added goals in the first half to make it 3-0. Nuno Samarra and Sufrim added to the score sheet and it was good to see Ibrahima Baldé get on the score sheet which should give him some much needed confidence. He also added a second later.

What was also reassuring was seeing Hugo Grilo playing well for FCC Barreirense, the club we sold him to in the off season. He may have ended with a 6.1 rating but it was good to see him in the first team.

Next was Beira Mar at home. As you may know I am not very fond of having a parent club and I don't intend to keep it that way. We got off to the best possible start when Antonio Alves scored on 8 minutes. But Dudu equalised before half time and Dias score a penalty to make it 1-2 early in the second half.

Fleurival scored on 70 minutes, all but sealing the game. Alves scored a second on 87 minutes to scare Beira Mar but it wasn't to be. Overall, we did well, playing well against weaker and stronger opponents, hopefully it's a sign of things to come!

Oriental: One Step Closer

Today Oriental Lisbon will play their first game in the Segunda Divisão, when they take on SC Covilha. After languishing in the third division for quite some time, they hired inexperienced manager Vitor Martins, who powered them to the title.

Oriental survived a late purple patch of bad form and a resurgent CD Fatima to earn promotion. Fans heaped praise onto Martins, as his simple game reaped the rewards. But will they have enough to grit it in the Liga Orangina?

Vitor Martins, the quiet guy who was the catalyst behind the promotion, believes so. "We have enough to stay up," he said.

Many others don't think so but only time will tell, and Martins, 37, will want his side to get off to the best possible start in the second division, to avoid any chances of a season long relegation scrap.
Nice speech and story.
