The seasons expectations were set at a top half finish, for obvious reasons.



We were seventh in the league, with nine games to play before the close. My objective was to win as many of those as possible and then reshape the squad during the off season.

There were limited transfer funds, and we were operating at the top end of our wage budget. I also must confess that the previous manager had done appallingly with the resources at his disposal and I was adamant that I would do better.

The restrictions in the Czech league were relatively loose; no restriction on the number of EU players and a maximum of three non-EU players in the match day eleven.

With this in mind, I set my scouts to work.

A pleasing aspect of the Czech league is that even the average and rubbish players can be sold for reasonable money.

Sizing up the squad, I have many aging players retiring, as well as a couple leaving on frees. Given the average state of the facilities and youth setup, I think we can forget about producing any decent players in the foreseeable future, so the mindset needs to be buying, not building youth. And saving coin so we can buy youth, and ultimately build facilities.

We have approached more than a few players to sign with us, and I am not sure whether it is the Czech League, or the Sunday League background of the manager, but there are not terribly many players who are interested in signing.

As I found during my time in South Africa, recruiting youngsters from other Czech clubs is an expensive way to build the side.

We will be looking to recruit mainly from EU countries, and integrate those players over the course of next season.

Most of the players currently in the squads; including the Under-21 and reserve league will be sold for whatever we can get for them, because in my opinion, there is very very whom are up to the task, and whom would play the type of entertaining, attacking football I want on display.

Another reason I thought it was imperative that control was seized from the previous manager was the simple fact that the club is financially in the toilet.



The challenge is going to be to get the club back on a even keel financially, and that will mean the sale of some players.

That balance is ridiculous, but you've done incredibly well to control everything - that profit!

That is the balance and profit as at 31 March 2015, the day I took over. Judging from the monthly income and expenditure - which I will talk about next - the only way to keep the club in profit is to flog players.

Until I find a way to manage the finances better, it is something I will need to copy!

Боjaн wastes little time

New manager Бранислав Боjaн has wasted little time before dipping his toe into the transfer market. In a clear signal that he is unhappy with the current squad and the previous business conducted by the previous management, Боjaн has finalised four transfers to date, and if his previous track record is anything to go by, these will be the first of many, as he will attempt to stop the slide of SK Dynamo České Budějovice and win over the clubs fans.

In order to begin the rebuild, the majority of the previous backroom staff had already been let go, and replaced with men of Боjaн choosing, there is a feeling that he will do the same with the playing roster, all of whom have been decidedly disappointing this year.

Of the players who have newly signed with České Budějovice, only Christian Medina will join immediately, having been available on a free.

Clear message sent

In what can been seen as a clear lack of faith in the current goalkeepers on staff, Боjaн has shored up the custodians position by the signing of two up and coming goalies from Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is the expectation that the current goalies will be told shortly that they will not be needed next season, and with the clubs finances teetering on a knife edge, the most likely candidate for the third 'keeping position is a member of the clubs current under twenty one squad.



Expect Mujkic to installed as the number one next season, but rumour has it that Hadzic will also see considerable game time. In speaking to Боjaн after the transfers were announced, he was pleased with the captures, and especially pleased with the financials impacts, as only Hadzic triggered a transfer fee and the fee was reportedly minimal.

Боjaн goes with what he knows

The fourth, and last immediate signing announced by SK Dynamo České Budějovice, takes Боjaн back to Africa, and in particular, the School of Excellence, and young under twenty one representative midfielder Clifford Lichaba. Боjaн is hopeful that the impressive Lichaba will add some backbone to what has been described as a soft midfield for Dynamo. Lichaba will again join on a free at the conclusion of his contract, and will be the second foreign player for the Czech side, after Christian Medina.
