Reading Miss Out on Honda, But Capture Capuano

Reading had good and bad news today as it emerged that Keisuke Honda had rejected their offer in favour of a move to German giants Schalke. However, Marco Capuano had sealed his 3.9 million deal from recently relegated Pescara

Honda was reportedly offered £70,000 a week on top of lucrative bonuses to join Reading but has told the media that playing in the UEFA Champions League swayed him to the German side. Marco Capuano was in a press conference with Le Fondre today and had said he was looking forward to the challenge of the Premier League and working under manager Adam Le Fondre

Press: You had been offered contracts by clubs as big as A.C. Milan and Athletic Madrid. What made you choose Reading, The squad, The League, The Money, The Manager?

Capuano: I am looking forward to playing in the uhm, Premier League, It is any footballers dream to.. uhm.. perform on a stage as big as the Premier League and I am looking forward to uhm.. how do you say, Develop, under Adam Le Fondre and within the Premier League.

Press: With Capuano signing, You now have FIVE central defenders, Should alarm bells be ringing for any players in that position now?

Le Fondre: We're looking into moving some players on, Unfortunately that's just the way it is, to bring players in sometimes players have to leave and it looks like that's going to be the case.

Marco Capuano has made 12 appearances for his countries under-21's and looks set to break into the first team very soon.
Great signings! Good luck mate! I love how you made Capuano a bit hesitant on the talking :P

Adam Le Fondre has told Sky Sports that he is regretful to see Mariappa leave but feels it's both best for the club and the player. "Mariappa had come to me voicing concerns on his position in the squad, He said he felt over-pressured with the arrival of fresh talent in the team, after a long talk, Both the club, I and Adrian all decided it was best for both parties if he was to move elsewhere."

Mariappa has joined Newcastle in a deal thought to be worth 3.2 million, Mariappa has announced he is sad to leave Reading after only one season at the club but wishes the club all the best in it's future endeavors.
