Nacer Chadli Injured during Spurs Match

The Belgian has been ruled out for several months due to an injury sustained against Sunderland

Tottenham's Belgian midfielder, Nacer Chadli, has been ruled out for up to 3 months after sustaining what seems to be a torn calf muscle.

The 27 year old managed just 26 minutes on the pitch against Sunderland before being stretchered off.

The injury will be a cause for concern for Tottenham's boss, who now has just three fit wingers, and with a busy Christmas period, an injury was the last thing that the Portuguese boss needed.

Chadli arrived at Spurs in 2013 from FC Twente in a deal worth around £6m. He has since gone on to establish his self as a fan favourite, making 148 appearances in four years at the club, scoring 32 goals and getting 30 assists.

Villas Boas spoke to the BBC after the match, confirming that the injury was serious.

"Sadly, Nacer looks like he could miss a good two or three months. He is a great player and we will miss him during his absence, but now we need the other players at the club to step up and take control."
Solid month! Looking good for the title again. Pleased to see no Chelsea in the top 5 at the moment :D
Solid month and as Kiddy said, I'm sure about you winning the title again.
Doing great yet again. Interesting if you could sign a high profile player. Maybe Balanta in your defence.
Paddy Yeah, Chelsea aren't doing too great, although it did take me until the 89th minute with my only shot on goal to beat them... B)

Stephan Hopefully, it'll be awesome to win it two years in a row!

Hazard I try not to go for the obvious wonderkids (such as Balanta). He's at Bayern, anyways, and they would probably want big money for him.
top of the table again and ward-prowse is scoring good going man!
Looking good for the title again like everyone's said; i'm loving the graphics in the updates too! Really good!
Townsend looks really good, scoring plenty of goals!

"Vlad would be perfect for Madrid!"

Impressed: Ancelotti has confirmed that he wants to add the Romanian to his squad

Real Madrid are hot on the heels of Defender, Vlad Chiricheș. The Romanian defender, who has been monitored in recent years by the likes of Barcelona, Napoli and A.C Milan, could be in a shock move to the Bernabeu if Carlo Ancelotti - the Los Blancos boss - has anything to do with it.

In a recent press conference, the Italian confirmed that he is wanting to add the Romanian to his squad, seeing him as an ideal replacement to Portuguese defender, Pepe, who is set to leave the Spanish club on a free at the end of the season.

Wanted man: Chiricheș has been monitored by several top, European clubs.

"We have been monitoring Vlad very closely over the past few months, and he is a player that would be perfect for Madrid. He is the type of defender that does everything so effortlessly, and he would be perfect for Spain. I think Spain would suit him very well."

"Have we spoken to Tottenham? No, but I'm sure we can do a deal - we have a good relationship with them since the signing of Luka (Modrić) and Gareth (Bale)."

"I think that maybe a deal for Vlad to come to Spain would be best all around. We would help him develop into a world class player. Tottenham are more of a stepping stone to get you close, but never push you over the line. Real Madrid are known for making players." The Italian added.

The 27 year old Center-back joined Spurs 4 years ago in 2013, but has found his time at Spurs frustrating to say the least.

He has failed to hold down a starting at White Hart Lane, until this season, often finding himself having to jostle between Kaboul, Vertonghen, Caulker, and most recently, NKoulou.

He also seemed destine for the exit after Villas-Boas let the Romanian enter the last year of his contract. However, since the start of the Season, Chiricheș has been in fine form, making him one of Villas-Boas first names on the team sheet. He was also appointed Vice-Captain at the beginning of the season.

The Romanian has made 139 appearances during his time at Spurs, scoring 16 goals.
No :(
Nice update, Nick! "Stepping stone" :P
Jason I've been really impressed with him, been playing him in all my cup games, including some Champions League, as well as some Premier League games.

Today&Tomorrow Thank you, I appreciate the kind feedback! :)

Neal He's been really good lately, he's been keeping Bernard out the team!

EbEliminator It's a very tough, Dortmund are in very good form, so it will be really difficult to beat them, although I managed a 5-0 win on aggregate against them last year, so hopefully I can repeat that form.

Adam :(
